If the Panthers take Dareus

Recommended Posts

Yeah too bad it doesn't take a great athlete to be a QB see Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Drew Brees.

I agree...I find it very hard to believe the Bills or any team for that matter has Newton ahead of Gabbert...for that reason I believe that if Miller and Dareus are gone the Bills turn to Gabbert...last night on NFLN Casserly said the Bills will not go QB in rnd. 1 because they can get an immediate starter on defense with the 3rd pick and I prefer that approach vs. taking Gabbert. miller, dareus or peterson one of them has to be available.

he played 34 OLB in school. hes not some projected OLB he is a OLB in a 34 like he played in school. having him play in the 43 and making him cover TEs and drop takes away all his value. and that value is rushing the passer as a OLB. some of you people here are seriously retarded. go do research before you post please.

Von Miller played 3-4 OLB last year for Texas A&M. Anyone who says he can't play that position is wrong. In 2010, against Texas, he made an interception while COVERING a RB. So anyone who says he hasn't covered is also wrong. He's also a similar size to Clay Matthews, who seems to do just fine at OLB. Please God let it be draft day soon so these silly comments can stop.

Well then Miller must be retarded, too, because he even said that he can play in any scheme.

You are wrong. Miller's talents make him a pass rushing threat. A 4-3 OLB is not big in rushing the passer as much as a 3-4 OLB is. He is much better suited for a 3-4 OLB. Maybe if he could help in run support, then maybe 4-3, but he can't stop the run to save his life. The guy is a true 3-4 OLB.

I agree that Miller's pass rush ability is a better fit for 3-4, but I respectfully disagree that "he can't stop the run to

save his life". In the Senior Bowl he showed that he could use his quickness and agility to play run D. Just because

he isn't 260 lbs doesn't mean he can't play run D. James Harrison from Pittsburgh isn't any bigger and he is \

pretty good. I agree that for Miller, power is not his strongest suit, but he is also far from weak.

Wow, we totally disagree. Go to youtube and watch the Nebraska game and tell me if Von Miller plays OLB, and tell me what you think about how the TE Reed #25 handled him. He dominated the LT with his speed, but the tight end held his own neutralizing Millers speed and if you get your hands on him, he's done moving forward. He isn't built anywhere near the likes of Clay Matthews.

LOL. Stop dude. How many games have you seen Miller play in? Because he's standing up at the LOS, outside the LT/RT, easily 80-90% of the time.

And as for your Clay Matthews statement, is that a literal statement or simply figurative? Because they're almost identical in size.

he CAN play in both schemes. but you saying hes a better fit in the 43 is just insane. the guy is a pass rushing specialist from the olb spot. the rush in the 43 comes from the DEs mostly.

tell me one thing in your opinion. why would anyone have a LB such as miller ranked so high if hes gonna be covering TEs?

ill answer for you its because hes a pass rusher! lol seriously man are you just trolling to get people to argue with you?

Of course Von Miller said that, why wouldn't he? He also seemed to play 4-3 OLB in the Senior Bowl ok.

My comment was regarding people saying he can't play 3-4 OLB, which is the EXACT position he played last year since A&M ran a 3-4 in 2010.

First you said this:

Are you kidding? I hope you are being sarcastic. Miller as an OLB in a 4-3, huh? Um he'd be the DE.

How in the world would you know he is a 3-4 OLB? Have you seen him cover? The answer is no, he wasn't asked to do that in College. Huge unknown.

The bolded part shows where you are wrong. After spending 2 years playing DE, Sherman moved Miller to the 'Jack' position, a hybrid DE/OLB spot. That's when Miller had 17 sacks. When Tim Deruyter instituted a new 3-4 defense, Miller was moved to the 'Joker' position. In the 3-4 in 2010, he was asked to drop into coverage every week. The interception against Texas (by Von Miller) won the game. So, now that we've established that you have ZERO CLUE about Von Miller, let's go onto the next bit...

First off, we've already established that A&M ran a 3-4 last year. I see you have an issue with cold, hard facts, but if you don't like where Deruyter had him lined up as a 3-4OLB, call up A&M and complain. Furthermore, I can watch the Nebraska game against Oklahoma State and show that Prince Amukamara had a tough time against that OSU WR, but that doesn't mean he's a bad player. Also, Von Miller was instrumental in stopping Oklahoma in two goalline stands. You got anything else besides the Nebraska game?

He isn't built anywhere near the likes of Clay Matthews.

When Clay Matthews left USC, he was listed at 246 pounds. Last time I checked, Von Miller was 246 without any impact on his speed. They're both 6-3. And you're retarded.

Welcome to my ignore list.
