Looking to attend Arrowhead for the Bills game

I'm looking to attend my first Bills road game :D . I've targeted the Halloween matchup vs. the Chiefs as my destination. I've found good tickets and a good deal on a flight/hotel package.

My question is what was it like at Arrowhead as a Bills fan?

I plan on wearing Bills colours and cheering loudly while remaining respectful and sober of course.

What are the fans like? What is security like? Etc.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I went to the Bills game at Arrowhead two years ago and it was a fantastic experience, sat a few rows up behind the Bills bench. We wore Bills colours and had no problems. KC fans go all out in the tailgate party with BBQ and are very hospitable. We found a lot of other Bills fans at the game too. Suggest to stay at the Embassy Suites Kansas City if you're looking for a hotel, perfect location close to great restaurants. Make sure you check out Jack Stack BBQ. I think they also do take out on Sunday morning of game day. Enjoy the game.

Me too!

I've only been to one game. 1980 when the crowd took down the goalpost! Unfortunately I was too young/uninterested to remember it. I am hoping to begin a new tradition of traveling to one Buffalo Bills road game at a different stadium every year. I'm in Tulsa, so I picked Arrowhead on Halloween for our first year.

I have several Chief fans for friends and by all accounts, Arrowhead is one of the best venues in the league. I've heard this from non Chief fans as well. They say that the tailgaiting is great, and that that famous KC BBQ is as much a tradition as wings in B'lo.

Maybe we could meet up.

Fans are more docile than years ago... they are a traditional AFL rival and play off rival of the 90's. I have been to the last 3 Bills/Chiefs games there. I go with Chief's fans as my wife is from KC and we live here. Generally treated well

Thanks for the info, that's good to hear! I love food, especially BBQ, lol. I'll have to check it out.

I wanna start a yearly tradition of one road game a year too. I live in Canada, close to the WNY border. Love my season's tickets but I'd like to experience some road games and go to every NFL stadium once. How cool would that be!? It'll take 31 years, but I'll give it a shot! Although I'm concerned that fans in Oakland, Cleveland and Philly might kill me. Those are dangerous places for visting team fans!

Sounds good. I'm well mannered and respectful, but also passionate about my Bills. I don't mind friendly ribbing but I don't wanna wind up in a scrap with some Chiefs fans and get arrested. I won't tolerate ignorance or worse yet, things thrown at me. I just wanna have a good time and enjoy the greatest sport on earth!

Went a couple of years ago and had a great time. Tailgated with an old college buddy who lives in KC and his Chiefs fan friends. Wore my Bills colors proudly and had no problems at all, even after we stomped them badly. A great time all around. Not much else to do in KC other than the game, however, but the game was enough for me....

While I don't wear much Bills gear (maybe a hat) when I go to an away game (or even a home game to be honest) I am open about being a Bills fan and root for the Bills during the game. I have had almost universally good experiences at other stadiums. I have been to Oakland and LA (Raiders both), SF, Miami, Jacksonville, Seattle, San Diego, Pittsburgh, Foxborough (a long time ago), New Jersey (Jets and Giants). Cleveland, Milwaukee (Packers a long time ago) and probably a few more. I find most fans like to give the visiting fans a bit of the business, but you should expect that. Respond with humor and they tend to do the same. Some of the most fun I have ever had with the opposing fans was with Raider fansin LA (believe it or not) and Steeler fans. Often we end up drinking and tailgating after the game. I find Jets fans easier to deal with in New Jersey than at the Ralph (where those who attend seem to act like jerks).

But if you meet up with jerks and/or act like a jerk I imagine things can get ugly, like they do at The Ralph from time to time. Covering yourself in Bills gear may not be the best way to go to another teams territory, but that's a personal choice.

Don't worry about the Bills gear..I had my Bills starter jacket and my son wore my early 90's starter jacket. There were a bunch of Bills fans there. In fact, we met up in the parking lot with about 100 for that game. There were a hell of a lot more on the concourse.

I can't speak for Jack Stack's BBQ, but Gates and Arthur Bryant's are the traditional ones. A NY Times writer once referred to AB's as the best restaurant in the country. There's a location downtown, one in North KC by the casino and a newer one by the NASCAR track. Gates has 6 locations, I think. Not trying one of those when in KC is heresy. (eh, hit 'em all).

Good stadium atmosphere, friendly people. I've been there about 6 times over the years and never had a problem.

We went to Arrowhead in 1995 for a pre-season game.

Full house. 87,000 in red white and gold and I think there

were about 30 of us in the Red , White and Blue.

Mostly everyone was friendly and we had a great time.

Only heard some grief from some drunk 20something females.

Arrowhead was a great place to watch a game. A+ tailgating also

My wife and I drove down from Minneapolis to see the game and the Chiefs fans were very hospitable. We ran into quite a few Bills fans, and even met people that lived down the road where I grew up in Elma. By halftime, the only fans left in the stadium were Bills fans, and there were plenty of great seats.

Nice stadium, and great people. No one throwing beer bottles like when the Bills visited the Humphrey Dome in Minneapolis. Vikings vans are mean.

You should love it, it is a fun time.

At Gates...ribs, any kind, or the combo platter if you're with a group.

At Arthur Bryants...burnt ends.

I've never had the pulled pork at Arthur Bryants, just the ribs and brisket.

you won't be disappointed.

I went last year and had a good time. I have a picture of me with some guy dressed up as a gorilla in a Marshawn Lynch jersey. I also went to a game there a few years back when we had Jim Kelly and company, and we got smoked. Fans love their team.

Incidentally, I bought my tickets on Stubhub last year a week out, got some 25 rows off the field at about the 20 for $15 each. That seemed like a good way to go.

We are doing the same this year. I will have two grills going and games, music, you name it. and shots as well. I see the post has gotten on here for the meet up and convoy into the stadium so visit that thread "kc and bills tailgate" See you all there, and as the poster said there phone numbers will be given out so good luck and see you there for our first win of the season.

Any visitors in town looking for something to do need to check out the Power & Light district downtown. It's a big revitilization project the city spent millions on and it's really something to see. They have bars and restaurants and a big open pavillion where bands set up and play. It's right in front of the Sprint Center, can't miss it.

Bills fans and KC fans have a lot in common. There are many lunch-pail fans who have stuck in there through thick and thin. Bills fans are pretty much everywhere but the west coast.
