Yup, Your right. That was my point when I was calling for Dick's job over a year ago. The injuries are not bad luck, they are a trend. Its no coincidence that Dick's light practices and cake-walk camps have something to do with all the injuries. Im not saying that Woods injury necessarily has anything to do with that. Pretty sure it doesnt. But alot of the other injuries weve had fall into that catagory IMO.

(some) You make that point in the next sentence.

I too (insert the I'm not a medical professional disclaimer here) believe that some of the injuries are jauronistic. Some might be related to the team's overall strength and conditioning program as well. I don't have anything to base that last bit on because we never hear a word about the team's strength and conditioning program nor its coach. Perhaps a more capable coach will bring this program back to the forefront.

He is. In fact, he was part of the medical staff at the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympic Games.

Good luck with your own career choice ...

He never ever acknowledged or thanked me for sound electrical wiring advice he solicited for, for the powering of a fountain in his back yard several years ago.

I think that establishes his credentials as a M.D. I was but a useful tool for, as the Brits say, " His Nibs."

neither the initial diagnosis of a compound fracture nor the immediacy of his surgery are proof points that this is a "worst case scenario". The severity of the scenario can only be ascertained by the operative surgeon, i.e., severe comminution (fragmentation) and/or displacement, soft-tissue trauma, etc.

None of us can even make a qualified guess as to this scenario.....

Allen Wilson reports it as a "compound fracture" and had immediate surgery. If that's true it's definitely a worst case scenario.

Thanks BB. I didnt notice that. But I guess I assumed most (at least the intelligent) would know what I was trying to say. I also believe the new coaching regime will focus on this program and how much of an issue it has been.

For what its worth, I was very successful hurdler in high school and seperated my ankle bones, tore the 3 main ligaments in my ankles and was back to winning races in less then a month. Less then 2 years later I was drunk wrestling and did the same thing to my ankle but because of the seperated bones my Tibia pushed my Fibula right off the ankle (they are now completely seperated) and broke my Fibula all the way up near my knee. I was in a cast for more then a few weeks but was walking on it almost immediately after it was taken off.

I know my injury was not the same as Wood's. My point is that I came back from an injury that I just shouldnt have. The first time the doctors said I would be on crutches for 4-6weeks and not running for 6 months. I ran in the sectional finals less then 3 months later and I was faster then I ever was before.

Weo, BuffooninATL you guys need to work on your reading comprehension skills. At no point did I suggest James Andrews was coming in. All I said was Wood would meet with the team orthopedist and probably a guy like Dr. Andrews to get opinions and options. What that means is, Wood will meet with the team orthopedist and another highly recognized specialist to learn his options.

my reading comprehension skills are just fine...maybe you need to work on your writing comprehension skills. Andrews, or a guy "like" Andrews, is not a trauma specialist, as other posters have pointed out already, so why would someone like Andrews be consulted on this case? Andrews IS a highly recognized specialist in SOFT TISSUE cases, i.e., the pitcher who may need Tommy John surgery or the football player with the blown ACL.

Nice work with the name-calling on my title ("Buffoon") - if you want to start that nonsense go somewhere else. It is uncalled for.

PER BILLS TEXT

"OL Eric Wood had successful surgery in JAX"

Has there ever been a time when a player has had surgery and we are told the surgery was unsuccessful immediately post op. Never. Sam Cowart had "successful" surgery after tearing his achilles and never was the same player. Healing is an art not a science and Wood has a long road ahead of him which includes things he and the medical team can contol and others he cannot. Here's hoping the kid can walk normal again. If he can play football it will be a bonus.
