  1. Is it possible? Expert Opinion = Jerry Sullivan!? The part of the article that really got me was that he believes that JP Losman is not in the top 50 QBs in the league. Really? It's ot even a given that he is worse than all of the starters (I'm not trying to make a case for JP as the starter or even that he is that good, but just that he is not as bad as Sullivan makes him out to be). Is JP worse than the following possible starters? John Beck Kyle Boller Tavaris Jackson Rex Grossman Kyle Orton I view all these players as along the same lines as JP (and this doesn't include any of the rookies from this past draft) and think they are all about equal in value. The only real difference would be potential vs realized play. On top of those players, to then find another 18 QBs who are better than JP would be tough. Not to mention, would you really want a guy with zero experience as a backup? I agree that JP probably isn't going to get us in the playoffs if Trent goes down for a long time, but to say that you'd rather have the UDFA QB we signed come in for the second half of a game in relief of Trent is nuts. In summary, Sullivan is an attention whore.
  2. Gregg Williams' last year here and we all know how well that went.
  3. Have the Bills ever gotten a player fromthe June cuts that has played even a minor role over the past ten years? Milloy is the only one I can even think of the Bills signing and he didn't come in until September. For some reason fans think that there are good players available after the June 1st cuts. Must be part of the "I heard of them, so they must be an upgrade over who we have..." crowd.
  4. Hey man, somebody has to win the AFC North. It looks like Pittsburgh or Cleveland will win and the other could be on the outside looking in. I think the teams are: Indy NE SD Pittsburgh Jacksonville Buffalo/Cleveland Tennessee just doesn't look like they are going to do much (and I'm not a big VY fan).
  5. I like how they make fun of each other for bad grammar.
  6. No, no. LA is OK - Look at his picture. LA - long live Mother Russia!
  7. I didn't do any analysis on this, but I think last year they tried to aviod matching McGee up with taller receivers. When watching the Dallas game for instance, it seemed like Jabari was always on TO. Your idea could absolutely be correct that the match up was not our preference, but instead the other team's, but I still think that they tried in some games, not all (and after they realized the guy could actually play), to match him up against the taller ones, since I think he has at least two inches on McGee and Mcgee really doesn't seem to be able to play the bigger receivers consistantly as well as the smaller ones.
  8. It wouldn't do anythign to upgrade at center. He could move to tackle and Walker can play guard, with Butler as a reserve or he could play guard next to Walker. Either way Fowler is still the center. No way a guy who is 6' 7" going to be able to play center.
  9. I buy that. TE > WR as far as rookies production this year. I also think the TE solves a lot fo the problems that everyone thinks we need a big WR for.
  10. McCargo and S. Johnson would be the DEs in a 3/4. No idea what we'd do with the other linemen though.
  11. I think what this proves is nothing. Not to train on your parade, because the idea was well-laid-out, but I don't think you analyzed enough data to say what you wanted to. Some one else mentioned that you should have included rushing yards given up or average rushing yards per carry, which I believe would have shown a more complete picture. One thing I will add that might be the hardest to actually quantify is the schemes that the CBs were used in. For example, when Shawn Springs came to the Redskins, their pass defense improved. Might that be because Gregg Williams needed a corner who could play on an island to make his defense work? Also, Seattle got slightly better in the rankings. Could that be because they didn't need a corner of his atributes? Or maybe they had another guy to step in right away - unlike the Bills after Clements left.
  12. Dude, read the post. The first 4 years of his extension are gauranteed. Even if we cut him, we have to pay him. I don't get the hate for these two guys after one unproductive year, in which most of the defense was hurt. At least give them another year on the new contracts. It's not even like they have huge salaries. The part of the cash that was really a problem as far as what they got has already been paid to them. Now the only choice is to let them do what they are going to do on field until the contracts are up.
  13. Separation is based on a quick step or the ability to cut quickly, not soemthing that can really be timed over 40 yards. You get separation from a CB in almost an instant, when you break and the CB can't keep in step. So yeah, a WR, with 4.5 speed, can have trouble with separation.
  14. That's my biggest concern about this guy. Since the Bills don't currently have anyone for the outside, they need to make sure whoever they draft will be able to play the outside and don't have the option of trying some one in the slot. This is making me start to lean to Sweed because he seems like the one WR who will definitely be able to play the outside, though he probably has the least upside.
  15. They said they wouldn't do it for younger players with upside. They didn't have a problem signing K. Thomas to play nickel for two years. They didn't want to set a new standard for signing younger guys so they can get rich - they want young guys who are able to grow together and are willign to add in older Vets as stop-gap guys until they can draft their replacements (see Reyes, Tutan and Tripplette, Larry).
  16. No. We need an WR who can play and is over 6 feet and a TE to be the red zone target. Two WRs is one too many, especially in the first 150 picks.
  17. I still think we would have made a serious offer to Wilford if he had made it here.
  18. I'd much rather have McCargo than Mangold. Mangold instead of Fowler, minus McCargo on defense, would not make this team any better right now. The team was too bad on offense that a center was not going to help us do much. A DT, even though we have only scratched the surface of his potential, is a much better route to go for building a team.
  19. That's the way to go, especially in the beginning rounds.
  20. That sounds like an expert opinion if I ever heard one... Certinaly not an ExpertOpinion.
