  1. I will defend Ben R.

The fact is the Steelers were used to being a good team with sucky QB's for the last 20 years. They then get this prima donna star QB, who is suddenly "the man," and my guess is that there were a lot of egos that took a hit (e.g., "Wines Hard," Joey Porter, etc.)

The fact is Ben R. is the star QB on that team, and was the reason that they won two Super Bowls. He probably has the same prima donna attitude that any of the other star QB's of the past had.

This may be petty/picky but Ben had nothing to do with that win over the Seahawks (I think he had the worst stats of any SB winning QB). The refs and the Steeler D but not Rapesliburger!

  2. Why not? He was very solid, came up at guard and moved to LT within a few years. Played injured and played hard and lasted for 10 years. I think many coaches and players would disagree with the "fans" that did not like him.

He was another Polian pick by the way.

My thought exactly. He wasn't an all-pro but very steady and reliable.

  3. In order to rationalize our shocking 2nd round pick, Torell Troup, I thought it would be helpful if we could possibly come up with a list of 1st and 2nd rounders that went way higher than expected yet still succeeded in the NFL.

I'll start it off...No one ever heard of Henry Jones until we drafted him, and he fulfilled his draft status. And I remember Polian took Dwight Freeny about ten picks higher than expected. I know Troup went about 40 picks higher than expected, but I'll still count Freeny. That's it, I'm done, any help?

IIRC John Fina had a late 2nd early 3rd round "grade" we drafted in late 1st round. He had a nice 10+ year career. Same can not be said of one Eirc Flowers.

  4. LMAO Nix is full of it. Lynch is gone

Agreed, But now we are playing a weaker hand. everyone knows he's 3rd on our chart and can be had for dirt cheap. Trading him pre draft might have been better. Although that would have tipped the Spiller pick. AH f it I'm tired

  5. Assuming the Bills go OT in the first round, is everyone on board with Colt McCoy in round 2?

I wouldn't have an issue with Colt or about 15 other names, They will all upgrade the roster. And hopefully fill a big need.

This is like Christmas for every NFL fan, unless you're a bears fan cause they dont pick until the 3rd round.

  6. I'm writing a paper about why sports are so important to our culture and i want to include TBD in the paper. So I'm asking Why are you a sports fan? What drives you to devote the time, money and energy rooting for a team? (not just the Bills, any team)

Any help you can provide would be very useful and assuming i have everyone's permission I will use some quotes from here in my final paper. Thanks in advance guys!

Sports are the first and best example of REALITY TV.

When you grow up in Buffalo you have to be a Sabres/Bills fan. It's in our blood.

  7. I understand that you have to and will bash until proven wrong, but don't hold on to your bashing ways for too long when it does turn because it's a lot more fun to be happy than to be negative all the time. It takes a lot less energy too...energy that could be used elsewhere..

But its just so much easier w no expectations. And this way we are right way more than we are wrong.

  8. What's wrong with Trent Williams? Is it his size? I keep reading everywhere that Trent Williams may not project well into an NFL tackle, but why? I'm not sure, but I thought I read a month ago that he was only 6 ft tall...and that's why nobody wants him...but after I double check today, he's listed as 6 ft 6 everywhere...am I going crazy??

I remeber reading a scouting report that did not grade him well. He has/had slow feet, He also played poorly against Miami Hurricanes. I feel like he grades to a RT not a LT and that's why he's sliding to 15-20.

  9. I know there is another place for this post, but I think it deserves to be posted right where I have put it. For the sole purpose that I only associate with the people in this specific forum and I do not think I have ever posted elsewhere. Therefore, I would like some feedback, thoughts and comments from all or as many of you, as I can get to read this and chime in.

This article just completely twisted my brain and flabbergasted me. I am in "Awe" and astounded that a professional athlete, who has gotten so much out of life, a majority of which I am sure was free, could say such things as he does in this article. However, I kind of, and I don't know why, agree with some of the points he tries to get across. Actually, the only thing that sticks out in my mind, like my Mother said a week ago, is why don't we teach these people about "birth control?"

That is the only thing I will comment on, is the birth control, until I see how others feel. I do not want to offend anybody.

PLEASE read this and share your thoughts on this article and how it relevantly relates to the situation in Haiti.

*This is something new to talk about. Something to take our minds off of our inept front office and the lackluster offseason our beloved Buffalo Bills have embarked on. There is nothing religious or political about this either. Please try to keep it that way, as well as somewhat positive, serious and non-offensive. (May be VERY hard to do, but please just try?)

THANK YOU - I hope to hear from MANY of you on this specific topic. (Not Haiti itself, but the article about the disaster.)

    Sincerely,

    Byrdman

  10. fair and balanced opinion but really, what's the fascination with Tebow??? Another gimmick to get Bills pr??

I don't care to know what Nix and Gailey's opinion on Tebow - I'm assuming they won't draft him.

You should never ASSUME anything when it come to the bills, no matter who's in the FO.

  11. Yes...I really thought they would land a big name coach that I would be happy with.

Yes...I am numb...and am considering jumping off a bridge.

    ETA:

I really feel sorry for some of the "REAL MEN" on this roster. I think of Eric Wood, and Fred Jackson, and Brian Moorman, and a few others.

I am seriously considering dropping my Bills Fan card until Ralph is no longer a part of this organization. That is hard to say, because Ralph is the King of the Bills organization. He has kept the team in Western NY,...and twice (1979-1981 and 1989-1995) over the past 50 years has brought true winning teams for the fan base to cheer for. But this.....this decision...may be the straw that broke the camel's back.

    There its fixed.

Oh and RW please DIE soon
