  1. High motor, good community relations, weak, slow, white...Hey, we should sign this guy!

With those kind of qualities I cant believe he wasn't locked up with 5 yr $22 million deal (9 mill guranteed), I'm sure he would've signed it had the inner circle offered. Very shocking that they let this type of player go into free agency!

  2. Still $90K just to go sit in a stadium where 4 of the games are likely to be in piss poor weather. I do not care how much money you have just seems absurd.

Absurd i agree.(unless you have 50-100m) Another angle may be when the steelers win the Superbowl maybe the price goes up to 110k? so possibly an investment?

  3. I know - I also found it astounding that someone in Pitt paid over $90K for a psl. You would trally have to love football for that kind of coin. I would rather spend the money on a media room in my own house and buy the beer for my friends to come over and watch. I love going to games but not at that price.

If you're spending 90k for a psl then your house already has those amenities for the away games.

    McShay has Bills taking TE

By Chris Brown - Posted January 6th, 2009

For what it’s worth (knowing this will likely change 50 times) ESPN’s Todd McShay has the Bills taking Oklahoma TE Jermaine Gresham with the 11th pick in his mock draft. Personally I’d like to see a pass rushing DE.

Gresham has impressive numbers as is the case with just about every skill position offensive player for Oklahoma this year with 58 catches for 888 yards and 12 TDs. He’s 6′5″ 266.

He’s got good all-around talent with long arms and soft hands. So he’s an interesting prospect, but again I’d like to see the Bills address the pass rush first.

    Hey it's a not a DB :P

  5. 1. Detroit Lions (Record: 0-16) -- Sam Bradford**, QB, Oklahoma

The Lions could have a tough choice here between Bradford and Georgia's Matthew Stafford. Bradford could use another year of experience and improved strength. There will also be concerns regarding his transition to the NFL from a shotgun-heavy offense at Oklahoma, where he is afforded the luxury of a first-class supporting cast. On the positive side, Bradford excels in the areas most critical to being a successful quarterback in the NFL: mental makeup, intangibles and accuracy.

If the Lions aren't sold on any of the available quarterbacks in the upcoming draft, selecting an elite offensive tackle like Andre Smith wouldn't be a bad option. Just ask the Dolphins how the Jake Long pick worked out.

    2. St. Louis Rams (2-14) -- Andre Smith*, OT, Alabama

While his suspension for improper dealings with an agent is disappointing, it doesn't appear to point to a larger issue regarding Smith's character. Assuming those concerns are unfounded Smith should be the first offensive lineman taken off the board. He's not as polished as Long was coming out of Michigan, but Smith possesses better overall physical tools. It's no secret the Rams wanted Long badly last year so it's safe to assume Smith will be high on their wish list a few months from now.

    3. Kansas City Chiefs (2-14) -- Matthew Stafford*, QB, Georgia

Tyler Thigpen showed some promise as a fill-in starter this season, which gives the Chiefs some flexibility at No. 3. There are people inside the Chiefs organization that are very high on Stafford, and for good reason. He plays under center in something close to a pro-style offense at Georgia. He faced top competition in the SEC and did not have a great supporting cast around him. Stafford also has a rifle for an arm and is very accurate when is footwork is correct. His inconsistency and lapses in judgment are concerning, which is why we could have an interesting arms race between Stafford and Bradford if both are available for the upcoming draft.

    4. Seattle Seahawks (4-12) -- Aaron Curry, OLB, Wake Forest

Seahawks fans would certainly second-guess passing on a potential game-breaker like WR Michael Crabtree. It doesn't take much research, however, to realize the risks of taking a receiver this early in the draft. Curry is emerging as the top overall linebacker in the 2009 class because of his combination of physical tools, toughness and leadership. Teams build defenses around high-intensity guys like Curry and the Seahawks could be in the market if Leroy Hill bolts via free agency.

    5. Cleveland Browns (4-12) -- Malcolm Jenkins, DB, Ohio State

It remains to be seen who will be making the decisions and what schemes the Browns will be running in 2009. They could be in the market for a rush-linebacker with this pick and a playmaker like Crabtree would be intriguing as well. Jenkins makes the most sense right now, though. The local product is an experienced and versatile playmaker who would instantly upgrade the athleticism of the secondary and also brings special teams value.

    6. Cincinnati Bengals (4-11-1) -- Aaron Maybin**, DE/OLB, Penn State

Maybin is only a third-year sophomore and he could use another year in school to develop physically. Still, his explosive initial burst as a pass-rusher is hard to ignore. Maybin can turn the corner in a hurry and he displays a powerful upper body for his size. The Bengals need a sack artist like Maybin, even if he would serve as nothing more than a situational edge rusher early in his career.

    7. Oakland Raiders (5-11) -- Eugene Monroe, OT, Virginia

Although Crabtree won't wow anyone with his 40-yard dash time, it's not hard to imagine Raiders owner Al Davis pulling the trigger on the premier pass-catcher in this year's draft. Let's assume, though, that Oakland goes in a different direction and looks to find protection for its investments in QB JaMarcus Russell and RB Darren McFadden. With Smith off the board in this scenario, Monroe looks like the best available option. He's not quite as dominant as former teammate Brandon Albert (No. 15 overall to the Chiefs in 2008), but Monroe has the size and athleticism to protect Russell's blindside for many years.

    8. Jacksonville Jaguars (5-11) -- Jason Smith, OT, Baylor

The Jaguars need to upgrade their offensive line and Smith is a fast-rising prospect who could figure into the top half of the first round. Smith needs to improve his bulk and strength but the former tight end displays impressive feet and size potential.

    9. Green Bay Packers (6-10) -- Gerald McCoy**, DT, Oklahoma

The Packers need help in the trenches on both sides of the ball and they should find a slew of quality options at No. 9 overall. McCoy is a third-year sophomore and there's a good chance he will return to Oklahoma for another season. However, he possesses the disruptive skills to rocket up NFL draft boards should he leave early.

    10. San Francisco 49ers (7-9) -- Michael Crabtree**, WR, Texas Tech

Teams are cooling on taking wide receivers early in the draft. Last year not one receiver was selected in the first round. The Niners would have to think long and hard about passing on Crabtree, though. This third-year sophomore appears to be an exception to the rule. Crabtree is a physical pass-catcher with the vision, hands, body control and run-after-catch ability to quickly emerge as a premier pass-catcher at the next level.

    11. Buffalo Bills (7-9) -- Jermaine Gresham*, TE, Oklahoma

    12. Denver Broncos (8-8) -- Chris Wells*, RB, Ohio State

    13. Washington Redskins (8-8) -- Michael Oher, OT, Mississippi

    14. New Orleans Saints (8-8) -- Rey Maualuga, ILB, USC

    15. Houston Texans (8-8) -- Taylor Mays*, DS, USC

    16. San Diego Chargers (8-8) -- B.J. Raji, DT, Boston College

    17. New York Jets (9-7) -- James Laurinaitis, ILB, Ohio State

    18. Chicago Bears (9-7) -- Mark Sanchez*, QB, USC

    19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (9-7) -- Jeremy Maclin**, WR, Missouri

    20. Detroit Lions (from 9-7 DAL) -- Vontae Davis*, CB, Illinois

    21. Arizona Cardinals (9-7) -- Brandon Pettigrew, TE, Oklahoma State

    22. Philadelphia Eagles (9-6-1) -- Russell Okung*, OT, Oklahoma State

    23. Minnesota Vikings (10-6) -- D.J. Moore*, CB, Vanderbilt

    24. New England Patriots (11-5) -- Brian Cushing, OLB, USC

    25. Atlanta Falcons (11-5) -- Terrence Cody*, DT, Alabama

    26. Miami Dolphins (11-5) -- Brandon Spikes*, ILB, Florida

    27. Baltimore Ravens (11-5) -- Brian Orakpo, DE, Texas

    28. Philadelphia Eagles (from 12-4 CAR) -- Knowshon Moreno*, RB, Georgia

    29. Indianapolis Colts (12-4) -- Sen'Derrick Marks*, DT, Auburn

    30. New York Giants (12-4) -- Greg Hardy*, DE, Mississippi

    31. Pittsburgh Steelers (12-4) -- Tyson Jackson, DE, LSU

    32. Tennessee Titans (13-3) -- Percy Harvin*, WR, Florida

Just curious is this draft from McShay or Kiper or someone else?

  6. It would not surprise me if the Bronocos go 8-8 on the year.

They have one of the worst run defenses in the league and when that happens it's hard to get over 8 wins a year.

I'll be honest, though, the Broncos have been fun to watch the last few years because every game goes down to the wire.

My Bronks are down to their 20th string running back and they still manage to look pretty good on offense.

The 8-8 playoff year for Denver would be a payback for the 1985 year when Cleveland went to the playoffs with an 8-8 record and Denver went something like 11-5 and missed the playoffs.

Bernie Kosar and Dan Marino in the playoffs that year in Flordia.

Are you expecting the Bills to beat them in their own house? otherwise they go 9-7 and that's if they loose to the Chargers (who aren't world beaters anymore!) the last week of the season.

  7. In my case I spend about $250.00 on the DirectTV NFL package, and about $250 going to the Bills-Fins game @ Dolphin stadium. (That equates to pret-tax raise of $780.00)

I'm thinking a weekend on the beach, or maybe a weekend cruise on Royalcaribbean.

I'm not sure what season tix @ the wralph are going for but I'm pretty sure it's way more than my $500 tab. Anyone have any plans for the extra cash, and more importantly getting 17 Sunday afternoons back.

Also the only way i re-new my subscription to NFL package:

    1) Fire DJ

    2) Hire interesting HC not a retread

    3) Bring in some needed FA's

    4) Draft well ( I realize you don't know until a few years but if it's another DB, I'll be done with this organization for a while!)

  8. I'm having a hard time with this one.

On one hand I want to feel for Fins given the hell they'be been thru last year. But I really never liked Pennington's corny personality and noodle arm, and I really hate to losing to him. Also, Fins have been ruthless with anti-Bills comments over the years.

I guess Bretts in post-season would add some excitement, but like Chad, I really can't stand Mangini and think he's a poor copy of Bellicheck. I'd also be somewhat concerned about them building a mini-dynasty we'd be stuck behind for a while.

When I put Pats down, my initial thought was "NFW!" Now, I'm not so sure fo that either ... there's an argument to made that if they win it again at least we can say we're pretty much treading water with the Jets and Fins. That would bode better for next season.

I was thinking of making the same post last night.

NFW on the dolphins. I live in Davie, FL and would take too much stuff from my friends if they win. That noodle aremed QB is another reason.

NFW on the pats. Just had enough of those f'ers. If they let Cassell go, hopefully Brady will not be ready for next year (pipe dream, as their FO is too good to be left hanging without a viable QB).

So that leaves the Jets. I dont 'hate' Farve or Mangini (much better than DJ). But those Jet fans may be the most obnoxious fans in the NFL.

Any Chance for a 3-way tie and none of them get into the playoffs?

  9. The words denial and me are synonymous, but after today, I have realized that Dick Jauron is just inadequate as a head coach. I know it is difficult for a team to adjust to a whole new system, but just look at the Falcons, Ravens, and Redskins this year. Maybe Ralph Wilson, in the twilight of his career, will realize that using food stamps for head coaches does not get you the best. Ralph does get his money's worth with his coaches, but his money spent is mediocre; maybe he should actually give a proven head coach good money.

    Some legitimate head coaching candidates:

    Bill Cowher

    Brian Billick

    Steve Mariucci

    Jim Fassel

Andy Reid (if he gets canned)

    Mike Shanahan (see Andy Reid)

    Marty Schottenheimer

    Jason Garrett

You forgot to mention NORV TURNER, who, if we're lucky could be had at the right price. Of course he'll have to be canned yet again, but i think that is inevitable.

  10. Wins by a QB are an NFL stat, just like in baseball for pitchers - look it up. Vick certainly has (had?) flaws as a person and an NFL quarterback, but he could be a good fit on certain teams even after 3 years of not playing - Baltimore, St. Louis, Oakland, Minnesota, and yes - Buffalo - come to mind.

I think you forgot to include the 49 ers as well.

  11. Sorry, this coaching staff can't get it done. They do not give this team a chance to win. I sat and predicted run or pass on every play during the game (with Bills on offense) just before each snap. I was wrong 3 times. 3 TIMES! I think the Patriot coaches and defenders were wrong less than I. Now, there are obvious running and passing situations, but when the other team knows what you're going to do, you don't give your offense much chance.

Second, the Bills defenders on many plays gave huge cushions to the Patriot receivers (again) and the Patriots simply ran short routes in front of them and completed those passes almost every time. Played right into the hands of the offense that the Patriots want to run with Cassel at QB.

Simply stated, this team doesn't challenge the opposition. They play the safe high percentage game and give the opponent the high percentage game. Jauron has to go. Period. Very nice man, but not a winner as an NFL coach unless he's matched up against an inferior opponent. Bills have beaten teams with a winning record once in nearly 3 years of his regime. His contract extension timing was horrible. Big mistake by the front office. Good thing Jauron doesn't work for me. He'd never forget tomorrow.

Que the Jim Mora Rants....you know "we couldn't stop the run, we couldnt run the ball, we couldn't throw the ball, we we couldn't stop their passing game, we SUCKED today, the players SUCKED, the coaches SUCKED!" you get the picture...

anyone else thinking 6-10 and that's if we can stop larry johnson ( here's hoping he suspended when we play the chiefs)

  13. Hi all,

A friend and I will be driving up from nyc for the Raiders game. I have a few questions if you guys wouldn't mind. I'm thinking we should stay in or near downtown to go out on saturday night. Does that sound right or is there somewhere else we should go? We're both 28/29 and want to go out partying on sat night and get a flavor for buffalo nightlife and to prove Willis wrong about the women. Any ideas on places/towns/neighborhoods to find a hotel? I see Amherst and Williamsville on hotels.com, but wanted to see what you guys thought.

Thanks a lot for your help, it's much appreciated!

    Kenny
