  1. That did not take long.. Harbaugh did QB Coach for the Raiders for 2 years... I think Jimmy Johnson is the name you're looking for...
  2. I think Freddie's spot on the Roster is about as safe as it gets...He'll make a fantastic back-up to CJ as long as he's healthy...
  3. It's Buddy's job, as a self-proclaimed old school scouting guru, to know better than the other GM's...To see what others may not see...If you're saying Buddy is off the hook because he was inline with everyone else who misjudged Wilson's potential, then at the very least, I want the guy would did properly evaluate him as my GM... Not Buddy...I just don't get why some folks refuse to hold this guy to the standard that he is so quick to tell us all he should be held to...If he's such a great talent evaluator, how the f*** did he not know that the kid could still play at a high level at 5-11?...By the time the Bills were Drafting in the 3rd Round, if you have evaluated the kid properly, it's an absolute no-brainer...It's a 3rd Round Pick...If it was a 1st Round Pick I would agree, it's a tough call...But a 3rd Round Pick knowing Fitz is really your only viable option at QB???...Like I said...Should be a no-brainer for one of the single best football scouts on the earth...Or maybe he's not? Maybe?
  4. You're right...They should have fired him before it...
  5. There is almost nothing about Lovie Smith, outside of the report that he would like to come here, that excites me about the guy...I just can't muster anything for him...But I don't think he's the worst option...And from what I can tell in comparison to Jauron, Lovie seems to at least have a pulse...
  6. I hear what you're saying...And I don't disagree...I have heard that Kelly is well aware of the fact that he's not going to be able to do the same thing in the NFL...By all accounts he's a sharp, super-innovative, forward-minded Coach...He intrigues me no question...But I do understand the deck will be stacked against him a bit...I'm to the point with this Franchise that I'd rather give a guy like Kelly a shot than have a re-tread...I'm not basing that on anything other than my gut...Which is mostly useless...
  7. Agreed on Shaw...Before he signed this new deal I actually was dreaming a bit... A man can dream...
  8. You can't try to improve an obvious need without actually trying...Buddy is supposed to be a Scouting Guru...He was handed a ton of Picks in 3 years...The fact that Dalton, Kaepernick, and Wilson are all starting Playoff QB's pretty much seals it that Buddy's judgement was wrong...Sure none of them may turn out to be the next big thing...But if Buddy truly believed The Bills HAD to upgrade from Fitz at QB, one of them was certainly worth more than Aaron Williams or TJ Graham...You HAVE to try when all you have is Fitz, and Buddy told us from day #1 he was going to build through the Draft...Then he Drafted one 7th Round QB in three years knowing Fitz, or Edwards, was his starter...Furthermore he put The Bills in an awkward must-Draft-a-QB situation this year...It was just a poor job by a GM in well over his head IMHO...
  9. Could not possibly agree more...Exactly where I'm at... I like Brandon, and I LOVED the beginning of that Presser...Just loved it...Then he went on to say he's keeping Buddy...Then he praised Buddy as the best Football man he knows...And to be honest he lost me a bit...I'm still hoping...But Brandon's gushing belief in Nix has me concerned about his judgement already...And this thing has just begun...
  10. You and your endless details...
  11. We've discussed Dysert a bit...Personally I really like what I've seen of him, though admittedly I have only seen a couple games...The main knock I've seen written about him here has to do with Miami's record...Which is actually a valid point because QB's with poor College records rarely excel in the NFL...But I still like the kid...He makes some really incredible throws at times, and from what I've read he was basically the OC on the field for Miami of Ohio...
  12. First off let me say...If you think the #1 reason top tier Coaches do not want to come to Buffalo is because we ax head coaches and GM's with terrible win/loss records every three years...Then I should probably stop typing now...We're never going to agree...I think that statement is way, way off...These guys understand it's a results oriented business...Brandon said it yesterday...He also said that's what Buddy always says...Jobs would not come open otherwise...You think ANY Head Coaching candidate expects that he, or any GM, is going to keep their job in the NFL past 3 years if they lose twice as much as they win? No way... Brandon is the beginning of stability...Not the middle...Nix was Ralph's guy, not Brandon's...If he went with his own guy, say Whaley, and promised stability it would be good enough for most Head Coaching candidates... What you wrote is your opinion, and you seem to want to pass a lot of your opinion off as fact by utilizing capital letters as proof...And that's fine...It's all good...My opinion is Buddy should have gone yesterday due to his record which is there in black and white for everyone to see...The same way every other GM in the NFL is evaluated...Wins, losses, Draft Picks, Free Agents, etc...You seem to believe that just because something has not worked with this organization in the past that it is incapable of working...I disagree...You keep trying until you get it right, and you darn well make sure that folks who have made bad decisions in the past don't get a bunch more chances to do the same... Like Buddy, you cite as fact things that are completely your opinion, or possibly not factual at all...So I totally understand why you want to keep the guy...I really do... And just for the record...I would not consult Buddy if I was shopping for a bag of Pork Rinds at Wegmans...Just saying...There are FAR better Head Scouts in the NFL nowadays...That IS a fact...
  13. You're 100% correct...There is no way while listening to that Presser live, or reading the transcripts now, anyone can come to any other conclusion...Unless you think somehow the Bills are being run like the CIA now and everything concerning the present and future on the Football side is cryptic... The Bills Football side is 100% controlled by Buddy...Only now he has to run everything through the Brandon filter instead of the Ralph filter...And for those who feel Whaley will be in charge soon enough...We'll see...But Brandon was clear Buddy was staying on, there was no timeline given whatsoever for a change, and it was never said that Whaley would be taking over...Implied? Maybe...Said outright? Not at all...What was said plain as day and crystal clear is that Buddy is in charge still and he has 100% of Brandon's confidence... Read it and tell me you can come to any other conclusion...http://www.wkbw.com/news/local/Bills-Transcript--185373322.html
  14. That certainly would be sweet... I'm OK with Smith for a couple years...As long as The Bills don't give up too much to get him...
  15. That list, outside of Kelly, does nothing for me personally...Meh...
  16. I'll go out on a limb and say there is 0.00% chance that Russ Grimm gets The Bills job...Or any other HC job in the NFL for that matter...Probably ever...0.00...And if it sounds too familiar remember you have the same GM as we did last time recommending this HC...Ultimately it will be Brandon's decision this time around...But still...
  17. Thank You!!! What is being asked of us by the "Nix is gone in 3 months" contingent is to either ignore everything Russ said about Buddy yesterday, OR realize he was just lying...I don't understand why that is OK with some folks...But whatever...
  18. I will say this much...If it's Whisenhunt that's a HUGE indication that Whaley is calling the shots on the Football side...
  19. I hear you...But Whaley said himself today that he would not be making the HC decision...He said he would have input on the ex Steeler guys...That's it...I understand what you are saying, and I hope you are right...But that is not at all what was said to each and every one of us today...Brandon did not just say that Nix would return at GM...He said he was the GM and there was never any doubt whatsoever that he would stay...They gave no indication on a time limit for Nix outside of a very vague "He's 70 and he can't do this forever..." And in fact Brandon said quite clearly that Buddy would weigh in on the Coaching decision and the whole Football side heavily...He said Buddy is still in charge there...Period...Call me skeptical, but this is The Bills we are talking about...It's a step forward for sure...But in order for me to be all-in there are assumptions here that I'm uncomfortable with until they happen...I did like a ton of what Brandon said though...I like Brandon a lot... We'll see if the paranoia is valid or not...I'm just saying that if you take what was said today at face value, it's WAY too much Nix for my liking...
  20. Good points all...And no question I like the Brandon move...I really do...If it does turn out that Whaley takes the reigns after the 2013 Draft I'm OK with it...But I still feel like there were better guys out there...I'm kind of nervous about Whaley...I'm only assuming he'll be better...
  21. 15 Draft Picks in 3 years for a Defense that turns out to be historically bad...Historically bad...No way that could ever be all coaching... All but ignoring the QB position when basically they only had Fitz... And we're keeping this guy? Sure Nix did some good things in those 3 years...But it was no where near good enough...I truly feel sorry for The Bills fans who are fooled by Buddy's shtick...The comment he made today about the percentages when picking Coaches with experience is EXACTLY who this guy is...He's VERY persuasive...He'll recite percentages and sound like he's right...He may even believe he is right, which would be sad...He talks like he knows exactly what he is doing, and that he knows what he is doing is the right thing...But he's just NOT that good, and he's not right nearly enough...Not saying he's not trying, he is...He's just not good enough at it for the 2013 version of the NFL...He's exactly what he says he is...He's an old school scout...He would still make a good scout today...But NFL scouts don't make decisions...They evaluate...Give their opinion...But they don't make the call...The best Buddy can do is run an NFL Football Organization the way an old school scout would... Meanwhile there are young guys out there who have learned from the best...And there they go again, passing us by...I'll say the same thing I've said a million times on this board over the past decade plus...I hope I'm wrong...But I'm no where near as easily fooled as I once was...I think the Bills passed a golden opportunity today to move into the present day NFL...They should have dumped the old school scout for a bright young mind...Even if it was Whaley...But the minute Brandon said what he did today about Buddy I immediately recoiled into skeptical mode again... I'm just not a Nix guy...Again, hope I'm wrong... True...But it's Buddy job to know, not mine... Cause it's all about one year right?
  22. I think it can be argued at least that JPP was the BPA at #9 that year...Just saying...
