  1. No kidding. Some people will argue any point just to argue.
  2. The proof will be in the pudding. If they actually use the cap space this year to re-up players and sign a few select FAs then yeah, they handled it wisely. If they sit on $20M in cap space again it'll be what Bado contends - a team trying to hit the floor or a little above the floor to make it look better. If I were a betting man I'd say they'll get nowhere near the cap but hopefully you're right. And I'd be perfectly content with letting Spiller walk and paying Byrd instead. Both positions can be filled with mid round draft picks but if you're going to pay someone you pay the guy who performs year in year out on Sundays.
  3. Well said. She gave him - and her children - the permission (for lack of a better word) they needed in order to move ahead with there lives without the guilt they'd likely feel for having a new wife and mother. It's funny that people can turn something beautiful into something creepy.
  4. Yeah, I made this point last week in a post. Thad is more consistent but his level of consistency isn't really that high. If EJ can start putting it together he's shown me some things that lead me to believe he can be good. When he struggles it's when he's not playing confidently and he's rushing things because the game is moving much too fast for him. That's when his footwork breaks down and when his accuracy really suffers. This will - hopefully - only get better with experience.
  5. I just want to see some exciting football. I'll pull for someone to win it all once the two conference championships have been decided. I can't "follow" any other single team, even for just the playoffs.
  6. One good year doesn't make the pick worth it and in terms of this offense - CJ only led the Bills in rushing 1 year out of his first 3 in Gaily's offense. Spiller was a wasted pick, just face the facts. You don't burn high end picks on RBs unless they are Adrian Peterson type talents.
  7. We'll see how this season finishes but thus far he's led the Bills in rushing 1 of his 4 seasons in the league. That's not quite the impact I'd hope for with a top 10 pick.
  8. Those types of players don't have to be drafted in the top 10. You can get quality 3rd down/split carry type backs in the mid rounds. If you spend that type of pick on a player he has to be an every down player. If you spend that type of pick on a RB he has to be a top flight, every down type back.
  9. That's like saying, "if Miami (or Baltimore) truly is a playoff team they had no business losing to a team as bad as the Bills." Bottom line is the AFC wildcard race consists of a bunch of mediocre teams and the Bills had a chance to vie for that playoff spot and didn't help themselves by giving away a home game.
  10. The problem is that, unless you get a premium player like a Luck or a Peyton, the guy you drafted first will very likely beat out the fresh out of the draft rookie. He knows the offense, he knows the WRs - he has every advantage. Then you have a guy you just drafted sitting and not getting reps. Sure you can develop him that way but it's generally going to take years to do and isn't the entire point of this not to wait that long? In the meantime you have other positional needs that didn't get addressed because you drafted a QB to sit on the bench when you just drafted one the year before. If they're serious about brining in competition they're better off bringing in a vet to compete (hopefully someone with more durability than Kolb.)
  11. I'm not sure what games you're watching but this is absolutely incorrect. The Bills are last in the league in passing percentage on 1st down at 49.47%. They lead the league in runs per game at 34.1 and they're 24th in passing att per game with 32.9. Their passing play percentage is 30th in the league at 51.24%. Hackett has called a run first offense for most of the games this year and the season's statistics bear this out. I have no idea how someone could watch the games and come away with the idea that Hackett uses the pass to set up the run.
  12. It appears not only haven't you watched any units coached by other coordinators but you haven't really paid attention to any Bills' road games.
  13. Nope. If Miami and Baltimore win and San Diego loses then the Ravens get the 6th seed via their head to head win over the Phins. The only reason that Miami has the edge now is because it's a 3 way tie and while they lost to Balt they beat San Diego. So it moves to conference record and in that scenario they hold the advantage because of their better conference record. If it moves to a 2 way tie with Baltimore then Miami lose the tie-breaker via their head to head loss.
  14. Yeah but Wanny didn't have Hughes, a motivated Dareus and a much healthier K. Williams. Those pieces make this front four vastly superior to last year's. That being said I love seeing him mix up the looks but he's right - as long as he keeps the offense off balance with a variety of fronts and looks he doesn't have to send the blitz nearly as often.
  15. I've defended Hackett for his conservative offense for most of the season but there are things I'd like to see done differently. 1) Put EJ under center. His footwork isn't great and Hackett makes it more difficult for him by continuously putting him in the shotgun. Shotgun footwork is different and EJ struggles with it. We've seen EJ look much better - and more accurate - when he's under center. 2) Stop with the read option. EJ rarely keeps the ball and at this point I don't want him keeping it. If QB doesn't every keep the ball it does nothing to keep the D honest and just slows the development of the run play. 3) For the love of god get rid of the hurry up. A team should only want to maximize possessions if they have a better offense than their opponent. Otherwise it's foolhardy. Why get into a track meet with other teams' offenses when they're superior to you? It also hamstrings the defense. Unless this offense develops into a juggernaut just huddle up. We saw the offense huddle up yesterday and when combined with a dominant run oriented attack they can control the game.
  16. Some on this board have it out for Gilmore for an unknown reason. They neglect to mention any play where McKelvin or Robey gets beaten (and it happens every single game) yet any play were Gilmore's man catches a ball there's a post (usually several) about it. People expect him to be perfect and when he's not BAM, he sucks. He's actually played well in the past 3 weeks but you'd hardly know it from reading this board.
  17. I swear 1k of your 5k posts have stated this exact same thing. I know you have something more to offer than just this tired sentiment over and over again.
  18. My favorite thing about him is his burst when he realizes there's nothing there. When the line is stacked up instead of hesitating like Spiller he plants and accelerates into the tiny crack and picks up 2 yards where there were none. It's not spectacular or that noticeable on the stat sheet but there's a difference between gaining 2 yards and gaining none (or losing one) when it comes to down and distance and the plays in the playbook that can be called. The guy is obviously doing it just to get reactions. Best just to ignore him.
  19. The one who can't see things long term is you. What would it say about this coaching staff if they couldn't get a team to show up to play? That the team quite on them? What use is a slightly higher draft pick when a coaching staff like that is in control of the team? The fact that the team is playing hard only portends better things for the Bills. Sure, it doesn't guarantee anything and they might suck next year but if this team had quit two weeks ago I'd have no hope for them next year no matter what pick in the draft they had. But hey, go ahead and be pissed off because the Bills won. More power to you.
  20. I think we can safely put you in the miserable cuss section of the studio audience.
  21. If you're going to B word when things go poorly (and by all means do so) then you should also praise them when they play well. Otherwise you're just a miserable cuss.
  22. I like Robey but running free without getting blocked to pick up 2 sacks isn't the same thing as what Kyle was doing play in and play out. Kyle was stout vs the run and provided pressure on lots of plays, even ones he wasn't getting sacks on.
  23. People bitched when the team showed up to the Tampa game flat yet I don't see anybody giving the coaching staff credit for having the team ready to play the past two weeks with the season essentially over. The team has played hard and been pretty sharp.
  24. Yeah, those would have been bad had Tannehill been accurate. Either Fred of Kyle. I went with Fred.
  25. For some reason this actress really does it for me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-mXuBKK2Fr8
