EJ vs. Russell Wilson's First 3 NFL Starts
MDH replied to C.Biscuit97's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's easy to only point to his bad throws and say he played poorly. He didn't play poorly overall, he was up and down. He had good moments and he had his clunkers. I'm not sure what QBs everybody on this board is watching. You can't watch ANY QB in the league critically without being able to point out a handful (or more) of throws which are just bad. I've watched Brady lots the past few years and every single game he has multiple throws where I'm saying, "what was that?" It happens tot he best of them. -
GREEN BAY!!! trouble selling tickets..
MDH replied to dwight in philly's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If the game is sold out how is there not "zest" for tickets? You can't sell anymore tickets than being sold out. -
Does anybody care about the rest of the season.

Thanks for compiling that, it's good info. So one time in the past 50 years and that was when the Broncos had the 1st overall pick in the greatest QB draft class in the history of the sport. Yeah, I think it's safe to assume no modern franchise will be doing it any time soon. We've seen Bills fans bash the organization over and over again for continuing to use 1st round picks on new RBs. As for all those other positions - probably because there are multiple starters at each position... -

It has nothing to do with following this franchise. I can't think of a single franchise in the history of the NFL that used their 1st round picks on QBs in back to back years. -
EJ vs. Russell Wilson's First 3 NFL Starts
MDH replied to C.Biscuit97's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually, I see absolutely nobody really liking EJ and having full faith in him. I see people willing to give him a chance which you interpret as "really liking." On the other hand, there is a group of posters who are absolutely convinced he sucks and will never amount to anything - after half a season's worth of starts. Maybe those posters will end up being right but it's not because they know anything - it's too early to tell despite what you claim. -
Lost in all the anger over the game was that sweet juke FJ put on that LB to score on the screen. Just a thing of beauty.

Yeah, this is the first one that came to mind for me. That said I'm not sure it's worse than Wonderful Christmas. We've been listening to some Christmas music while decorating the house this year and there's one song that just annoys the hell out of me. It's Bing Crosby singing Rudolph and at some point during the song a tiny little annoying voice sings from the 1st person perspective of Rudolph and it makes me want to stab somebody.

List of Washington General moments by the Buffalo Bills
MDH replied to 1B4IDie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You guys have way better memories than I do. Once pointed out I remember the games mentioned in this thread vividly but if forced to come up with games on my own I could probably only come up with just a handful. I guess I repress those painful memories... -
If that's not far fetched then I can't imagine what you think is.

On the surface what you say is true - he grabbed the collar in plain view. However, he grabbed the collar in an attempt to stay close to the WR because the WR pushed off with two hands and had Robey not grabbed the collar he likely would have been shoved to the ground. It was PI on both the WR and Robey. It should have been a no call or offsetting. To call it on one guy in a critical situation is a bit much.

Yeah, I haven't gotten that angry watching the Bills in years. In the past few seasons I've watched them implode with a passive calm because I had no illusions about them turning things around. Yesterday with everything breaking the Bills way in terms of other teams losing and them coming upon an easier (note, I didn't say easy) stretch of their schedule I was hoping for something more than the same old crap we've seen for a decade. I'm still shaking my head at the inane ways they come up with to lose games. It's getting tiresome.

This is what I was saying all game. Put the damn guy under center. His biggest flaw is his footwork and it's much easier to keep form when the QB's under center. He looked MUCH better against the Jets when he was under center for most of the game. Why the hell they have him in the shotgun on a permanent basis I'll never know. I f'in hate it too.

The play that was the most mind boggling is the one where Kiko was on their RB on a go route and there was no help over the top. On the play the Bills rushed 3. How the F can you rush 3 guys and still end up with an LB man to man on a deep pattern? Thankfully the ball was dropped but it's inexcusable all the same.

Remain Calm, all is not as lost as it appears
MDH replied to HopefulFuture's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How can you think that it was EJ's inability to move the chains which cost the Bills the game? The offense put up 31 points. EJ didn't turn the ball over. That's all you can ask from a rookie QB making his 8th start. I'm not sure what people expect. This loss is squarely on the shoulders of the D who have talent all over the field yet can't stop an offense who went into the game ranked 31st in the league in rushing coming in. This loss is squarely on the shoulders of Chandler and SJ for their blundes. I swear people just want to blame the QB no matter what. Yeah, I guess it was EJ's fault, I guess he should have throw inaccurate passes to SJ and Chandler so they wouldn't have had the opportunity to fumble. -
The team needs to shed the players that continually come up small in big situations. I think SJ is a very good WR for 50 minutes of the game and one that chokes when the game is on the line. That's the type of player the Bills need to get rid of because just about all NFL games come down to the last few possessions. I'm tired of watching guys give the game away at the end and it's become all too common. With all the talk of EJ's inconsistency from what I've seen so far is that he's the opposite of Stevie. When the game is on the line suddenly he's firing confident looking passes that gain chunks of yardage. That's a guy I want to see how he develops.
-
I have to assume that they refs just got the number wrong on that one and the penalty happened somewhere else on the field. Because it they truly meant that it was on Williams then one has to question the integrity of the game.
-
It was sickening to hear the crowd cheer as the game winning field goal went through the uprights at a supposed "home" game. What a joke.
-
Yeah, because that D was fantastic today. They played no part in allowing 34 points to the Falcons...
-
Explaining that over and over you feel that Tomlin did NOT break the stride of number 12.
-
Who thinks controlling the LoS isn't important? Of course it is. Now if you're saying you target O and DL before every other position just to accomplish this then you'll get some disagreement but I don't know of any football fan who doesn't think it's important.
-
I don't think any of the teams bunched together will finish 9-7. None of them are consistent enough and they've shown that throughout the year. My guess is 8-8 gets it done and whoever has the best tie-breaker gets the nod. I think 8-7-1 would be good enough.

12/1 Bottom Line: Who we want to win this weekend
MDH replied to OCinBuffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why? Because they had one solid win? Before that they lost 3 in a row - two of them to the flailing Dolphins and Redskins. They have a tough schedule with the Bengals, Giants, Broncos, Raiders and Chiefs. There is no way they escape that schedule without a loss or two. -
The Jets Message board is hilarious right now
MDH replied to Captain Hindsight's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh, I'm impressed with EJ's character. While me might sometimes let the pressure in the game get to him I've yet to see him carry it over to the following week or linger in his dealings with the media. Those are all good signs. The guy has all the character traits you want in a QB and a leader. He has pretty much all they physical attributes you want in a QB. I think the only thing we don't know is how "football smart" he is. Given enough time to get comfortable in a system will he be a guy who can quickly break things down and know where to go with the ball? What I do know is that if he's as hard of a worker as we've been told he'll at least be a serviceable QB. If he's football smart he could be a star. -

MDH replied to Captain Hindsight's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And now we see why character is so important at the QB position. Very few QBs go through their first few seasons without significant growing pains. Guys with high character can gut it out and see the light at the end of the tunnel. Guys who are "me" guys start throwing people under the bus the moment things go wrong or let the pressure get to them and it compounds their problems. I'll give Geno credit, so far he's handling things much better than I thought he would in terms of taking the blame on his shoulders. Granted, his declining play tells me he's letting the pressure start to get to him and I can't say I blame him - that market is brutal. Going to the Jets was probably the worst possible scenario for him.
