  1. But if Stevies groin is acting up it is manly to care about that?

the issue is that you have no idea whether he is joking, angry, or telling the truth. You accept tweets as fact...

Probably difficult to relate since Ferguson didn't have the luxury on Twitter when... Guess everyone should delete their Facebook accounts to keep from portraying an image of arrogance and inflated self value, sorry mom, and all my friends/family that don't live nearby- I gotta protect my reputation...

    OVER... The line is 58.... U/O 58!!!

Ok so I am older than you and I do not need minute by minute treatment for ADHD, we can agree to that, but I do not have any interest in Stevie's (or others) opinion, thoughts, jokes or satire. I want him to play football not be a comedian. I set little value in the over-inflated ego. If he is in a bar in downtown Podunc Ala. I really could care less.

  2. Thankfully, newspapers are about dead.

yeh replaced by mindless tweets by people who cannot write or spell or remember a thought for more than 12 seconds.

Read a good paper and you may learn something or actually have to engage your brain. Jerry Sullivan may be an idiot, but not all writers and are at least responsible enough to have their name attached to their articles, unlike the mindless tweets. Thank goodness reporters exposing (sic) tweeters like Anthony Weiner.

He was on the radio, I did not read it. Did you read my post? It seems not.

I will now bow down to you, my master, Jboyst62 and your nearly 11000(100% football content filled) posts.

You are clearly superior to me and my <200 posts.

Thank you RR, you have Managed to finally shut up the 11000 posts by Jboyst 62. congratulations. Intelligence prevails
  3. As discussed earlier, a new thread for the new week.

While it's debatable when this topic should have started, it seems logical to start it on the first day back from the team's first day off from practice. Also, this is the day that the team encountered its first significant injury, the hamstring strain suffered by Stevie Johnson.

    Anyways,

    Bills Roundup: http://www.buffalobi...95-bc94bb28c252

    Coach Marrone's presser: http://www.buffalobi...d6-0e07a274a2b4

    EJ's presser: http://www.buffalobi...de-b9015a0dcd07

    Interview with Kevin Kolb: http://www.buffalobi...25-cc7f8eb38a93

When did the word presser come into being. Why would journalists who are suppose to be protectors of the language get so lazy the press conference is no longer acceptable. No issue with you using it Jose but this word is not in the dictionary.
  4. Okay, maybe that's going a little too far, but hear me out:

IMO, I think there is a good chance that Marrone has had his mind set on Manuel from the beginning, and here's what his plan may have been all along: To give Manuel a fast track training that he could not have obtained if he was named the starter 2 months ago. Rookie QBs face a whole new level of pressure going into the NFL, and Marrone is giving him doses of pressure to prepare. First, the training camp battle - this will give Manuel something to play for more than just "practice" - give him the mentality he's actually fighting for something. Same goes for preseason...if he's fighting for the job, it is a more similar mindset to a regular season game than just a "scrimmage" game. Manuel is under immense pressure right now instead of naming him the starter so he can breeze through camp and preseason without a worry, then get smashed in his debut.

Other people have pointed this out: If we let Kolb start all year, and he fails, then it leads to 2014 being ANOTHER rebuilding year with Manuel's first starting season. Coach knows we need to get the ball rolling.

What insight......my 5 year old could have come up with this
  5. As reported by Bills Daily and WGR, Mario in pads was at practice but was the last person on the field and went to the stationary bike. He left with the staff 30 minutes later. IMHO this guy has a head issue...maybe bi polar...maybe spoiled, maybe still whining about his flippin ring (what a wuss). Whatever it is I would put money on it that this is not physical. Would you not think that being first on the field would be a more appropriate statement for a guy who says he wants to be a leader. I hope I get to eat my words but this guy is a cancer.

  6. I think he sticks with the team for at least a couple more years. He is our best pass rusher, and I don't see him getting cut until they find someone to replace him.

Where do you get the idea he is our best pass rusher. I think we will see he is not the sac leader this year and he will use the excuse he is double teamed etc. Bruce was doubled every play..and he was the leader each year...he was a leader.
  7. Almost no one reads Buffalo News except web viewers who clear cookies.

Read article, clear cookies. Block reminder pictures if you want and just see blank screen.

Speaking as Jerry Sullvan does about the Bills who needs a 4th rate writer on a third rate paper (his quote was about a 4th rate coach on a 3rd rate team).

Personally I think it was a fifth rate writer on a second rate paper about a 4th rate coach on a first rate team. I.ve got a head ache just reading this.
  8. This entire thread is somewhat off balance. This whole case and result is a commentary on society ills, economic and educational in particular. Most of the B&W issue is based on these problems in 2013. This is the same reaction to "if the glove doesn't fit you must acquit". I recall the exact reaction when OJ beat the "man". If this verdict comes out in January there are no protests.

  9. Chris Brown reporting on what the Ryan Clady contract means for Jarius Byrd is highly deceptive.

First, Brown misstates the size of the contract. Clady's base is $52.5 M, or $10.5 M per year, not $11.5 M.

Second, since $11.5 million is $1.7 million greater than the $9.8 million franchise tag, Brown assumes that Byrd must likewise seek $1.7 million more than his $6.9 million franchise tag. This makes no sense to use gross dollar figures to make a comparison across positions with very different cap figures.

It is far more logical to use the percentage difference between the per-year average and the tag. Clady's $10.5 million annual salary is 7% more than the $9.8 million franchise tag for offensive linemen. A 7% premium to Byrd's $6.9 million tag would be an annual average of $7.4 million. An annual average of $7.4 million would be a great contract from the Bills' perspective.

The bottom line: The Bills are not willing to budge from their sub-market offer. As a result, Byrd will sign a one-year contract for the $6.9 million in exchange for contractual language that the Bills cannot use the tag in 2014. The Bills will gladly accept this condition since they have no intention of tagging him again at $8.3 million next year. Byrd will then sign elsewhere at market rates (about an $8 million per year average with $25 million guaranteed).

Chris Brown is now desperately trying to distort the facts of the situation by making it appear that the problem is Byrd's exorbitant contract demands or the premium agents demand to the franchise tag. It is really pathetic to watch, but not nearly as pathetic as watching many people on this message board fall for his B.S.

Good post until you get to the point the Bills offer is sub-market. That only is true if you think Byrd fits in that order in the market. I for one have always believe that Byrd is soft and he is the typical Parker client. Focus on $$$$ and nothing on team. I can accept any player who is 75% money and 25% team...family comes first...but 100% money usually comes from players who lack real fortitude for the game.

  10. Every year players are cut because of the salary cap like it or not. This year will be no different. I expect to see the Bills cut WR Brad Smith, DE Mark Anderson and Kicker Lindell. I also expect to see Mario Williams contract be changed to give the Bills more Cap Room... Bills need to sign FS Byrd along with Woods This year... Spillers contract is also on the horizon and it would be nice to see him also signed to a longer term contract. Can't have everything right away however but the Bills will set themselves up to let them improve the team. A quality OG could also be signed if one becomes available but you have to have the cap room to do it... So I do see some cuts coming and soon... What do you think?:

Why do the Bills have to sign Byrd? He needs to sit for the season. I don't see him in the top category of safeties.

    .

  11. Why do you think that? and it is always about the money.

Parker has always been about the money. He has shown that is his only concern...see M. Crabtree as an example. I am not saying that is bad for his client, but as a Bills fan who wants the best for the team our goals make the team approach and his approach on money only significantly different. There is no middle when you are not on the same page. I spent 30 years bargaining labor contracts. I have met "Parkers". Why do you never tell the car salesman that you love the car. Because he is about "money" and you about " the car and money" and he wins.

  12. Any agent is forced to play hardball sometimes. It doesn't mean that they can or will every time. It also doesn't mean they are being unfair or unreasonable. In the graham article we got the tidbit that he thought Byrd was getting paid just 15-20% of his market worth. If you use last years salary, 1.1m, and 15% that would put the asking price at 7.3m per year.

One thing I'm confident about with Parker is once its done, it'll be done. No revis nonsense where the moment pay drops for a year he holds out ignoring he was paid higher than the annual average the year before and huge signing bonus. It will be a fair, and honored contract - but don't expect a hometown discount to get it done. No shame there.

Polian: If the agent is realistic and understands the player's place in the game, then you have a platform to start negotiations. That's Eugene to a T."

Andrew Brandt: He never sacrifices his integrity. I'll admit to being frustrated with his positions, but I never felt like he was delusional or unfair in his dealings. In some ways, that makes him more professional than other agents. With other agents, you can get upset with their positions based on the way they acted about it. With him, you could not

Parcells: "He's a good man, a very good man. The agents that I think have their clients' interests as a priority, I generally get along with well. But those that are just feathering their own nest, I don't care much for. I don't like the crooks, the guys that are taking advantage. I think it's sad, and I've seen a lot of it. I have a high regard for Eugene."

Here is what I think about bargaining people like Parker. He does not respect the game , for him it is about money and no other item appears on his list I believe the only way for the Bills or any other team to deal with Parker is to be the same. What Parker does is wait until the team shows it's priority to football and then he gets what he wants. Either a contract or a trade. In either case he gets the money. As a great negotiator Herb Cohen says...it is not about the money it is about the MONEY. If the Bills make a respectful offer they must then be prepared to allow Byrd to sit out. It must be about the money for the Bills as well. It appears to me the even if Byrd comes to camp, he will not play well, he will be disruptive. He must understand it is his career, not Parker's money game. No game, no money.

  13. What do the the PC police want? The Pattycake Bowl? Talk like this reinforces that this country is going down the tubes rapidly.

This will not be about the PC police..it will be the lawyers and the courts that will be the death of football. I question the step that has the NFL involved in little leagues across the country. That is the direct link the trial lawyers would be looking for. Follow the $$$$$$$.

  14. Ok so lets see if I got this right ... Geno is a bust and EJ is a major talent.

Of course all of this being before day 1 of camp :)

You don't get it. It is our job to rip anything that has to do with the Jests...we hate them and wish the team and all their players coaches and staff nothing but bad luck and bad performances. I would think that after your 5000 posts you may have figured out this is a pro Bills venue...but then again a Jests fan can't read as I hear it. So get it straight...Geno Smith = Bust......EJ = HOF

  15. Jim Kelly cannot be overstated: he is Buffalo's greatest player, but his post-football life has shone brighter, by any significant measure, than his Hall of Fame athletic career.

To top it all off, like many of us slugs he married way above himself! Then he and his bride turned their own tragedy into something redemptive -- something that has lifted other people.

I am cynical about so many things, but I am thankful for the player Jim Kelly was, and the man he became.

    Get well, Jim.

Exactly, no one has done more for this team and community than Jim. If there is some serious issue he has my support and respect. If there is NO issue he has my admiration and respect.

  16. why did they not change the term "at bats" to "ats bat". I have always hated the fact that baseball people allowed such a change since in todays culture the use of a word or phrase is allowed to change and new words developed and added to the dictionary each year. Culture had created the term RBI's not bad English language. I needed to vent on this, thanks. Can anyone think of any other terms the English police have changed?
