  1. Milano could be Talley type, very good player making all others better playing around him. But never to be the over paid superstar. He will never be spectacular...Talley/Hansen.

If wants to be over paid...bye bye.

As for Clowney he has only proved himself to be a greedy wanta be star. The media anointed him a star, coaches and most GMs have not. The league would not miss him. IMHO.

Your point about many people resisting a vaccine is very valid.

What I hope is that a vaccine would restore "freedom of choice" to seniors and other higher risk people.  I can choose to get a vaccine and be protected from Mark Maskless.  I can't wear a readily-available mask and be protected from him.  My mask protects him; I'm only protected from him if he does his part.

I only meant that I do not take all articles and studies as fully truthful. They often have very narrow approach (necessary at times) and self serving. Even Fauci said masks were ineffective at one time. That was one of the dumbest things said ever from a scientist. Why he said it,? Politics? The protection of supply for workers? Who knows. But we all knew that wearing a mask would help stop transmission, even if it was 5%...or 25%...or 50%. Your hand in front of your face would be helpful if someone coughed FFS.

Is a vaccine coming? I would take it, I am one of the vulnerable, do I think it will happen? My guess less than 50/50.

That's 100% so true at this time!

It's possible that we may be able to predict in the not-too-distant future.  Not to "bump" my own post on another thread but this paper really is big news .  It has important news for the vaccine front, for the enduring immunity front, and a possible clue on the  "why is it some people don't get very sick?" front - just like the 1918 flu, it appears that some people have been previously exposed to one or more animal coronaviruses that have conserved regions to Sars CoV2!!!! and have memory T cells to mount a defense against it.

Historically, as soon as something is known to be important, bright folks get to work figuring out how to measure it.  It's not a slam-dunk, mind, but it's hopeful.

Your take is interesting and perhaps some truth involved in some articles.

We have a lot of opinions in the news, way too much politics, fake news  by politicians, Wall street money betting on one vaccine or another, early tests positives, yet we cannot even convince people to wear a mask.

If a vaccine happens many will resist for sure.

I have my doubts that a long term vaccine will occur. I hope I am wrong.

It will happen. I know you guys are experiencing a 2nd peak situation, but I just think when other sports are starting up - soccer in Europe has been working very well, they have now played two international cricket test matches, they are planning to re-start the Tennis tour shortly etc.... I just think the PR for the NFL to say "sorry we can't do it" is too damaging long term. They will find a way, they will cave to the players' demands, there will be no fans in stadiums.... but there will be a season and it will start on time.

Soccer protects 18 who travel to a game. The NFL travel with at least 60 playrts plus coaches etc. Hard to protect that many athletes.

  5. Can you imagine putting 55 to 60 players plus coaches, trainers, execs, broadcasters, etc on a plane, fly to Houston, to get on buses, to check into a hotel, to go to various restaurants or banquet service, to breakfast, to buses, to stadium and then home again, in a city that will not acknowledge a virus even is real.....and not have 1 team member contract C19.

    Impossible.

Fly into Buffalo you can do it, into NYC is ok, but not Texas, Arizona, Florida, Atlanta, etc.

If they play, the place where you play may be more important than who you play.

The season cannot survive like that.

  6. A Panda walks into a bar....

Orders a burger and beer from the waiter.

After finishing his meal the waiter asks if he enjoyed the burger.

The Panda stands up, pulls out a gun and shoots the waiter and begins to walk out.

The bartender screams at him, hey why did you kill my waiter and just walk out.

Panda says, that is what I do, look it up.

Bartender Google's panda...sure enough it reads....

Panda " eats, shoots and leaves"!

chandler, you know I like ya bud and a very thoughtful mod., but we have to agree to disagree.  Tons of people don’t know who Cody is, heck a ton don’t even know their own Senator or US Congressman.  The vast majority of the US has absolutely no idea the story behind the Buffalo Bills naming contest, as a matter of fact, the average person doesn’t even know there was a Buffalo Bills 1946-50, and was the Bisons in 46.  They also wouldn’t know there was a Buffalo Indians team in 1940, before the league shut down for WW2.  They also don’t know we didn’t get absorbed into the NFL from the OTHER LEAGUE LIKE Sf and other teams because of Halas.  He’s the one who blocked it.

It doesn’t matter as this radio host was just seeking out media hype on a non-issue.  There is zero chance the team even considers changing the name.

Look don't we have a bigger problem here.

Didn't the Buffalo herds technically belong to the Indigenous People. So that means the city name has been stolen adding insult to the Bill Cody story.

Of course Sitting Bull was a chief who killed many of Codys friends so the Bulls name is out too.

Dang, the Labatts Blue thing is looking good.

Your OP barely mentions a racial component specifically the Black Panthers.  The Black Panthers had many issues that were not economic such as disproportionate numbers of African Americans being sent to Vietnam.  Anyways, I was responding to the post concerning collectivism which was never done in the US to any degree outside of some homesteading but in Europe and other parts of the world not affecting African Americans.  If implemented in the US collectivism would not only impact African Americans but many Americans including Caucasians.  I suspect that many whites would participate with the intent of receiving benefits who previously did not work.  There are many in WNY who have never worked a day in their lives in terms of being officially on a payroll.  They either live with the parents or grandparents in a home or a mobile home on a relative's property.  They barter for their needs and work for cash when possible.

Equating poor or welfare dependant, or drugs dependant is the same as racist tendencies or racism.

When society can become color blind then people have a chance.the issue of climbing out of a ghetto and racism are 2 different issues. It may affect your vision to all blacks,

Poverty is poverty. Race is race.

By the way, the peace movement of the 60s was highjackex by the violence of the race issue, beginning with the Black Panthers. Just as the lgbtq has been highjacked in some cities by BLM

The peaceful protesters are as much to blame as everyone else.  They complain about people not condemning police but they do not condemn the looters.

I have a friend who owns a little store.  During protest it was looted and destroyed but he is not a "white elite" but a Korean who family works in store and live above it.

No one even offered to help him clean up the damage to store.

He recognized some of the looters are regulars in store and when he refused to allow person in post cleanup of store he got complaints even after showing videos to complainers.

Martin Luther King Jr. condemned all kinds of violence.

Sorry about your friends store, I am sure it hurts and is frustrating.

Mob mentality can be cruel. Ever been to a Bills game. I have said things and done things I am not proud of.

Hopefully the looters and your friend can come face to face and have a real conversation that is above the fray.

There is too much hate built up. The steam must be allowed to escape.

The looters (and the looters are not all from outside instigators) have ruined support from many.

Violet protesters and looters have resulted in many businesses leaving urban areas decreasing jobs in areas as well as services/businesses.

We will have another contraction of businesses not wanting to absorb costs and more complaints about communities not be served.

The point of this thread is exactly that. Can the revolution, the fight for recognition of the our societal change survive the distraction of violence that opportunists take advantage of. In the 60s the violence continued to increase by all. The establishment even participated and encouraged it. Nixon re election team sent people into the protests to encourage violent actions. ( see John Dean). So anarchists encouraged by establishment ruined peace.

Can this be stopped in 2020?

We are all aware of the differences in terms of practice and print when it comes to policy.  You are stalling.  Would you be happy if someone received part of your assets without payment to you?  That the same person performed no work and yet was compensated with some of your assets?  Do you consider it fair that in certain portions of the world and at certain times people had assets taken away from them that they believed was earned in a fair manor?   I am not interested in any political science drivel that you hunted up or were taught at college.  Do you believe in the right for the government to collect and redistribute assets without compensation to the previous holders of those assets?

This is confusing me, which may be easy at times, but why when we talk revolution of a racial sense does the subject of welfare raise its head. Not all black Americans are welfare recipients. A large part of the black segment is highly educated, employed, successful, valued members of the community and world. They still get treated poorly and suspiciously by many people and the police and the courts, and some business etc etc.

Our society in the US and Canada must bridge this divide.

I pledge to try and do my part.

On a lighter note I already know that no matter what I do or what WE can accomplish in the revolution I still cannot get a date with JLo so I have no ulterior motive.

  12. Why do people who wanted peace and to end the war machine and the war economy have to be the evil socialist or God forbid a dam communist. Why can you deal with them as citizens. I was not a commie pinkos like Meathead Stivic.

Why do people sho just want our society to treat all people equally have to labeled like that. Cannot you believe in MAGA and also be in favor of a just society.

Didn't the Pilgrims copyright that phrase...

How do the truly understanding, mainstream, supporters of a better way get heard, with a news media and commentators only listening to the loudest anarchist ( to quote gg),.

In the 60s you could not get the Panthers off the pages.

Some of that was druven by the establishment...John Dean participated in Democratic Convention on his way to the Whitehouse. Today it is the same violent factions, with only greed and destruction as a guide. Even the Pres leans that way. How do the masses get heard...how does our society accomplish peaceful societal changes. Politics only knows money and power..
