I'm in the process of migrating all of the recipes from the old site onto the forum. Everyone should feel free to post their own recipes (try to stick to the format of the recipes already there -- it'll make it easier to turn into a PDF or print a book for fundraising as was discussed earlier). And please reply to recipes you've tried with your comments, ratings, modifications, etc! I should probably put the Rettata recipe up there and pin it, huh?

This looks like a decent thread to announce the new TBD Cookbook Forum: http://forums.twobil...cookbook-forum/ I'm slowly working on migrating the recipes from the old Cookbook site into this forum. I'm trying to organize them by putting a tag in the front. Check the pinned topic for a list of current tags. I'm also trying to keep them consistent, as that will make it easier to publish a PDF or print a physical book in the future. Since it's not a database, we won't have a way to add them to multiple types (ie: "beef" and "appetizers"), but we'll make due. Feel free to contribute or to add comments on recipes already there. I don't see a beer can chicken recipe yet, so feel free to add it once you learn how to not blow yourself up in the process.

Former Bills not sticking with new teams

Josh Reed surprises me. He's not a great receiver, but I think he's good. -
DirecTV to offer games online without DirecTV sat subscription

Keep in mind that I think a lot of cable companies are doing away with the "cable from the wall to the TV" solution. I know in the Twin Cities, Comcast did away with it. You want cable TV, you HAVE to have a box now. Dish and DirecTV have the ability to output the same signal to two different TVs. I've heard Dish does it MUCH better, but I haven't tried it. You can't watch two different things at the same time though - it just outputs the same stream to both TVs. -
To be fair, only three backs averaged 20+ carries a game last year.

I believe stevestojan still works for them.

To clarify - I didn't take him to court over a dish. In fact, I didn't have DirecTV until I moved out of that apartment. I had to take him to court because after living there for 7 years, he was trying to withhold my security deposit AND charge me an extra $1,000 for things like painting the walls, caulking the tub, and replacing the carpets... Security deposit was around $500, and after taking him to court I was awarded roughly $800. In Minnesota, the penalty is twice the security deposit plus $200. Not quite sure how the judge came up with $800, but that's ok. It was a REALLY fun case - something out of People's Court. The landlord made an idiot of himself in court and people were literally laughing at him in the courtroom. I should share the story sometime... He was the definition of a slumlord. -

After having to take my landlord to court in Minnesota many years ago, I actually would not think twice about doing it. In most states, the tenant/landlord laws favor the tenant VERY heavily, and a landlord would be stupid to do anything retaliatory towards you or they stand to lose a lot of money. I read all of the laws relating to tenant/landlords, and after doing so I would never want to be a landlord in Minnesota... There are laws on the books for a reason - and the "you must allow tenants to have a dish if they" comes from the fact that landlords were signing exclusive deals with cable companies to line their pockets even more. The FCC ruled that illegal. I realize most people aren't as confrontational, and I always asked potential landlords before signing the lease. That said, if you're following the law, what's the problem? I've used this service (included with Sunday Ticket Superfan) in the past. My experience was that week 1 was always choppy because EVERYONE who had Sunday Ticket was logging in to check out the service (it was free to everyone for the first week). After the first week, the picture quality was perfect and worked all the time. There's more HD streaming now, which might affect it, but overall I wouldn't worry about it. And if you do have problems, remember the magic words when you call is, "Customer retention." -

Even I wouldn't recommend a sat dish for internet access. But landlords have no control if you have access to a patio/deck/driveway/porch/etc. They might not want the dish there, but they can't stop you from using it, per the FCC. -

No. You'd have to connect the computer directly to the TV. There's a thread in the consumer forum about that very topic right now - first un-pinned topic in the forum if you're interested. -
Trans-Siberian Orchestra schedule announced - 2010
Fezmid replied to Fezmid's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Yeah, there's two different troupes - and east and a west. My wife likes TSO, but she always says, "They're not a band, they're a performance. If someone dies, the show will still go on." She's right. It's still awesome. -

Serious question: People say the $700-$800B on the war in Iraq was a "waste" and didn't help the economy at all... Yet where does that money go? Doesn't it go to companies to build weapons, tanks, etc? And to the troops (ie: jobs)? And other similar things? It's not like we just had a big bonfire with the money in Iraq, is it? Does anyone know whether that's correct or not? Seems to me that it have SOME effect on the economy....? -

Weren't you the one who loved DTV, and told the story that after the hurricane, your neighbors had no service for weeks, and your dish was working fine...? Pretty sure it was you but I could be mistaken. Sounds like a frustrating situation for you, but clerical errors like that happen. Happened when I was refinancing my house many years ago too, which ended up costing me a hundred bucks or so. Grrr... -
I can relate... In a game last season, Colston was tackled 6" short of the endzone (after a replay)... And I was playing a guy who was undefeated. On the next play, Brees threw to Shockey, who was the tight end on my opponent's team. 12 point swing. I ended up being the 2nd seed instead of the 1st seed. And if Colston had gotten that extra 6" (or if ANYBODY other than Shockey had scored), I would've actually won the Superbowl last season and made a nice pile of cash. Instead, I won my division ($50), but that's it...

What??? You wouldn't keep Steven Jackson...?! I ended up keeping Rivers, Jackson, White, and Colston. We had our auction yesterday and my team now looks like this: QB: Rivers, Bradford (big risk) HB: Jackson, Spiller, Wells, Jones, Kevin Smith WR: White, Colston, Bowe, Mason TE: Owen Daniels K: Lindell D: Bengals We start 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 D, and six times a year we can play 3 WR and 0 TE which should help me out.

Are you drafting Spiller in for your fantasy team?
Fezmid replied to beggar13's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We don't have a draft, we do an auction format. It's a 12 man league, 14 roster spots, 4 keepers. Everyone starts with $50, and then you get an extra dollar for each position you finished. (ie: Superbowl winner gets $51, last place team gets $62). This is the second year, so there weren't many studs out there to grab. I had $53 (so close to the money...), and picked up Spiller for $14. Not too bad, considering Matthews (SD) went for $25, and Pierre Thomas and LeSean McCoy also went for $14. it was a bit more than I was planning to spend, but it worked out. It's not a PPR league, but I still think his explosiveness could come in handy. Plus, if he starts showing good things, I can use him as a keeper, knock on wood. The downside is that I have Steven Jackson as my other starter -- so both of my starters are on teams that traditionally haven't put up many points. -

You're not interested in watching any other games? I've had Sunday Ticket for years now, and it's great to be able to watch games other than Buffalo. -

If 97 Rock does stream the games, it's because they have a license with the content holder to do so, and WIVB does not. -

It's a big vague. Engadget reports that you have to verify you can't get DirecTV: http://hd.engadget.com/2010/08/23/directv-to-offer-sunday-ticket-online-in-hd-to-non-subscribers/ And the top line of DirecTV page talking about the service says, "Can't get DIRECTV? No problem." http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/content/nflstonline/overview But I would've expected to see something in the FAQ, and there isn't. So I'm not sure... As for the quality, I'm assuming it's the same as the streaming they've given customers for the past few years, and if so (why wouldn't it be?), the PQ is excellent. -

Fezmid replied to Peace's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
From what I've read, it's not that easy either -- you have to prove that you can't get DirecTV service (ie: no balcony, no view of the sky, etc).. I'm not sure how diligent they'll be on checking that though... Or how it can even be "proven." -
I'm not a fan of software firewalls. Like you said, get a hardware firewall (or just a plain NAT is generally good enough). I tried some firewalls in the past (ZoneAlarm comes to mind) and it completely screwed up my TCP stack.
