Asked Mort a Question about Bills
ko12010 replied to Buffaloed in Pa's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why oh why did we not just draft Orakpo instead of Maybin??? Our pass rush would be better obviously. Before anyone gets made at me I know hindsight is easy but I find myself having difficulty letting this one go, especially considering how well we are doing right now. I think most people would agree with this: we could have put in the names of all the players eligible to be drafted that year in a big hat and just drawn a random one and it would have been a better pick than Maybin. Good god this pick still stings me -
I think one point that may have been overlooked is this: look at where alot of our guys were rated in their draft class. Alot of our big contributors were either late rounders or undrafted prospects. They knew that they had to have career options other than the NFL. It seems that alot of the players that come off as 'thuggish' which I guess means having poor grammar and speaking skills, are the ones that have literally had a full ride their entire life leading up to the millions that they will earn in the NFL. So they've really been able to just play ball, work out, and leave education to the less physically gifted. Fitzy was Harvard and didn't know how good of an opportunity he'd ever get. Nelson, Jones, Chandler, Freddy J - all guys who had to be prepared for life without high money football even if they were never going to give up trying on it. And I agree with the poster who said 'thuggishness' or poor education is more correlated to socioeconomic factors as opposed to race. But also, there are a higher number of non whites that grow up/live in poorer neighborhoods.

I went to UConn same time as Easley. No one's trying to say that they "expect" him to be the next super star WR but he definitely has all the physical tools and the work ethic to do so at some point.....but again like others have pointed out essentially that's the M.O. of every guy who gets to the NFL level anyway. So let's all just hope he stays healthy and is a quick learner. He was worth the 4th rd pick and its not like we are in desperate need of another WR our corps is very young and solid. But Easley is the build and has the ability to be a true #1 force! Eric Moulds-like build and speed. Does that mean anything at this point? No, lol. We are all just hoping that we find the guy who will eventually take over for Evans. We are in no rush so lets be happy! Our front office has actually been very good at getting young wideout talent. Easley could be good!

As of last night, Bills looking at Blaine Gabbert
ko12010 replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You know what sells tickets? As Charlie Sheen would say, "WINNING" I think this front office and coach finally realize this. They know how well we do ticket-wise with a decade long horrible team. If we start seriously competing, the few people who have left the bandwagon will come back in droves. Cam Newton will sell tickets for a little while - but when he doesn't work out for whatever franchise takes him, the anger it will create within the fanbase will do irreparable damage to ticket sales down the line. Donahoe would be licking his chops at the prospect of taking Cam and selling jerseys/tickets. I just hope (and I do think) Buddy is smart enough to take a player that will make the team better now and for years to come. -
The Bills cannot compete with this
ko12010 replied to High Mark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I went to UConn and the facility that they built for football is unbelievable I guess it was ranked like top 3 or 5 in the country, maybe only 2nd to Oregon. But now it'll be dropping a notch for sure. -
That's an unfair statement. While I don't advocate following mock drafts as a drafting technique, the Bills staff has in the past truly just over thought the whole thing, to be honest. Sometimes it's easier to see who is going to be good in the future than it's made out to be. For instance, most people agreed guys like ngata and orakpo would succeed. For whatever reason, our "experts" outsmarted themselves. I do have faith in Buddy Nix, however.

Luck will not declare for the draft. Breaking news...
ko12010 replied to dayman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
But why couldn't Luck have just finished his degree with some online classes or done something else? Obviously it would take a little longer with the extensive workload involved with being in the NFL but very do-able. He could have sent a bette message that you can strive for greatness and do both instead of just choosing football or school. He has his whole life to get a degree. He won't ever be a 100% lock at #1 ever again. -
The Official Gameday Thread: Patriots* at the Bills
ko12010 replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Because alot of fans seem to think if a player is not all pro caliber he 'blows'. You see one play where Poz gets blocked out and the opposing team scores a td and call for Poz's head. Not every player on a Defense is going to be a pro bowler, but our main problem is the front 4 not Poz. -

You're an idiot if you think Poz blows. He's not Urlacher but he's not the problem on D. Chill out. -
I know I am basically making myself out to be a hypocrite, but no one should even respond to a thread like this, just a classic overreaction. People that feel this way can't be made to think differently.

Good assessment! I graduated from UConn this year and was ecstatic that the Bills drafted him. He really is a beast, and the best part is he was a walk on I believe, which shows he is a very hard worker.

I would love to go to the alternates full time or just as good, go back to the early 90's uniforms. Simple and great.

Fitzpatrick is the new Jay Fiedler
ko12010 replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
People tend to forget that Fitz CAN improve his game as well. We think of rookies as the only ones who develop and need a few years to learn nuances and offensive audibles and adjustments. But there's no reason Fitz can't improve dramatically as a total player over the next couple seasons. -
What has happened to Rian Lindell?
ko12010 replied to billsfreak's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The last time Lindell sucked he had actually been hurt. Maybe that's the case? But who knows perhaps it's just a lack of focus that he'll need to sharpen -
Bills need to go spread formation if they...

Thank you. The answer to your question tho is that fans are used to dick jauron ball and the end of the greg williams era, the mularkey era, and jauron were all similar. It'll take time to get used to the fact that our offense now is normal for a good team. -
Fitzpatrick was "clutch" on the first drive of the...
ko12010 replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't understand why people don't think Fitzpatrick is capable of improving even more? He's still young. With a full season almost and a full offseason and ota's as the undisputed starter he will get better. Chan can help him with his mechanics and more time will be spent on Ryan Fitzpatrick improving in every possible way instead of splitting time between 3 guys. Also, with a full draft injection of talent he should have better protection next year. I almost feel like this is a no brainer to install Fitz and build up the trenches. How he's playing right now is not his limit I don't think, I believe he can and will perform better. He's not tapped out, why aren't people seeing this? -
Its Official: Donte Whitner Is a Bust!
ko12010 replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Seriously, people need to just STFU about Donte Whitner. He is not bad. Yes, he was a reach at 8 but that's in the past. SHUT UP about our safeties. We need to build the lines and LB corps to have a F****** chance to even judge our secondary for real. Jeez do people even know jack Sh*t about football. Wow he whiffs a few tackles or misses a coverage. This is a DIRECT result of Zero pass rush and awful linebacking. When our lines are rebuilt and we have some studs at LB I am positive Donte will shine. All this complaining about Whitner just has to be a result of Bills fans being so negative and having so much time to think about the roster. -
Round 4, Pick #107: WR Marcus Easley WR - UCONN
ko12010 replied to Tom's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm a senior at UConn and I can say that this guy is the real deal talent wise. Who knows if he'll pan out but he worked his ass off to finally break out and I think he'll do the same in B-lo. -
AGREED!!! Lovin' the Sabres man
-
I think what is pissing everyone off is that Gailey wasn't even supposed to be A choice.
-
I watched it, he actually didn't smirk. You may have been looking for something like that, but he really didn't. He just answered the question one of the guys asked him of why the Bills can't give the job away. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but he wasn't demeaning towards the Bills or anything.

Edwards will start next year

And if he had been a Bill, his career might be over at this point, knowing our reputation for destroying QB's. -

Why are there always threads about Poz EVERY week? The whole team is bad right now, Poz just has no help.
