  1. That's exactly right...I'd like to go see a game without the cheerleaders and no music and no gazillion other things that add to the experience (beer?)...Just a bunch of guys beating the &^%* out of each other...for 3-4 hours on a Sunday afternoon in freezing temps...Oh, but we'd still have commercial breaks... Come on the NFL and Media are multimillior dollar industries - surely they can pay these gals...It's only fair... Sounds like the girls are in it cause they love it...but if you want professional cheerleaders than treat them as professionals - pay 'em...Here is the Jills appearance info - notice who gets the checks... Jills Appearance Fees Here is another info page: Cheerleaders Don't Make $$ They seem like honest, hardworking folks - why not compensate them fairly? C
  2. I was reading the article over at the D&C site about the Jills...Citadel Broadcasting doesn't pay them a salary - just a $200 appearance fee - WTF? Indentured servitude...Yeesh... Love ya Corporate America...
  3. Life doesn't happen in a vacuum. Have you looked at the WNY economy lately? Then put the support the Bills get in context. The number of people that *will* be there even without a sellout is more than what some other franchises have in a full house (counting no shows). This is a small, regional market to boot... Now you tell me what's fair...? Personally, I don't think Bills fans need to be embarrassed about anything. Folks eat, sleep and bleed Bills up there - what else does the NFL want? Just their $$ apparently...Nothing else matters...
  4. I like the momentum and attitude I'm seeing from the Bills but there are absolutely no gimmes until the end of the season. Sure San Diego is tough. But all the other teams are gonna bring their A game as well. The Jets & Dolphins also want to make the postseason - Miami probably will fall short but Harrington is playing smart and their D is back on track. The Jets are at *home*, they always kick our ass when it counts...Belichick Lite is also coaching them... The Titans are now playing with a lot of confidence, VY is just unpredictable and you don't think Travis is gonna be extra motivated? Then there's Baltimore Unless our D can stop the other teams run game, I think we're screwed...We just have to be close to perfect in all 3 phases in order to have a chance in these games. I think if we beat SD and the Jets I like our chances a lot better. We're not even a .500 team just yet, that might cut it in the NFC but esp. in the AFC East, our guys are gonna have to stay focussed... C
  5. I live in Nashville. Jay Cutler is a stud. I don't know if he's the best in his class - Vince Young may eventually earn that moniker. But, he *was* the Vandy offense. I like JP and I think considering Cwhere he was in his development cycle, taking a QB would have been the wrong thing to do - for his sake. But if the Bills drafted Cutler I would have been doing somersaults in my kitchen...
  6. I was saying this about Eli before he came out. He's no Peyton. I've seen him play here at Vanderbilt. The Vandy D used to make him look downright pedestrian. I thought the Bills should have done everything in their power to get Rivers. Before the combine, everyone thought Rivers was a second round pick. I was hoping the Bills would "reach" and take him in the first.
  7. It didn't seem like he was tested much. Anybody have a feel for how well or badly he did in the game? Thanks Charles
  8. Those guys got shipped out for "lack of discipline"....
  9. Yes, I think you're right...BuT I was also trying to make the point, that a lot of the folks here want the quick fix(it's the QB, it's the OLine, It's the WRs, it's the janitor) when there is no quick fix. It's a systemic problem...The perceived lack of time is a combination of factors.
  10. The last two years in Gray's scheme I thought as much as London was active - he was also involved in bonehead plays and penalties. This year I think he has been playing out of his mind...Very impressive.
  11. Having all the time in the world doesn't help - when your receivers can't get open. For a team with so much book speed at receiver, our WRs sure have a tough time getting open...Folks say JP locks onto Evans too much - no s***? He's the only guy that seems to get open besides Roscoe. Sure the OL is a huge problem - but everything except maybe our RBs need help right now. JP is playing awful - but at least he's trying to play the way he's being coached. Which I think is also leading him to be less mobile by design. They want him to progress thru his reads. So much so he is not letting his instincts take over. They should just take the friggin' cuffs off him and maybe see if they can get the OL to give him an extra 2 secs. Not for him - but for the damn receivers to find some space!! Charles
  12. I will say this though - I don't think John Guy has done diddly squat since being here. I long for the days of DwighT Adams. Charles
  13. Throat yogurt? Creativity knows no bounds...eh?
  14. I don't know if this is still a hangover from the Bears and Lions games...But the thing that worries me more than our QB's lack of consistency is the lack of fire and spunk by the entire team but especially the offense - all around...No cheerleaders on this team except maybe Fletcher and Royal - that's what's disheartening...Someone just needs to light a fire somewhere - soon... See what CNN/SI's Don Banks has to say: "I was wrong. I thought the Bills (2-5) would put forth their best effort in weeks and give New England all it wanted Sunday at Ralph Wilson Stadium. After all, the Bills in Week 1 went into Foxboro and outplayed the division's best team, leading 17-7 at the half before losing 19-17. But Buffalo, which has lost three in a row and been outscored 88-30 in those games, didn't get close to making the plays that counted against the Patriots. Dick Jauron's team showed virtually no spunk against New England and consistently found a way to shoot itself in the foot. And I'm beginning to think that third-year quarterback J.P. Losman just isn't going to make it in Buffalo, no matter how much patience is shown by the Bills on his behalf. Losman had three fumbles against the Pats, losing two, and threw his sixth interception of the season."
  15. Cutler will a very good QB. I have a feeling he'll have a great career. Young and Leinart might have better days individually in this league. But as far as team success is concerned. He'll be the second coming of Elway in Denver. The guy has "IT"...in bucketloads...I think we did the right thing in not drafting a QB in the draft. But I wish we had drafted Cutler... Charles
  16. There was a rumor about a week to 10 days ago that AZ might trade Leonard Davis their LT who wants a big contract. If that is so, the Bills should do it. If he is on the downside, I'll take that over Gandy's upside. That way we can protect our QB's blind side for at least 3-4 years.
  17. Unless the Bears D is just too damn fast and it will get our QB killed...Not an Xs and Os guy - just wondering...
  18. Given his antics and drama over the past few years and *if* it's true he attempted suicide, then I think it is bi-polarism. I've lived with people in my family who are bi-polar and this seems classic. I'm surprised he wasn't diagnosed prior to this episode. Rosenhaus should have looked out for his client - but he's an idiot...
  19. The Chargers made out like bandits...He's a good team guy and will be an asset in the development of Rivers. The Titans are beginning to look like the future LA Titans...
  20. Yeah, I think once the younger players get some seasoning and some of the older vets get replaced by younger vets - I think we'll just be fine. Part of the reason guys like Fletcher are vital is cause they've seen everything and can adjust on the fly...No need to wait for coaching to point it out... God, i sure hope the spend a lot of time in film study this week, just to cut down on some of the bonehead penalties... At least, we won't be playing the refs this week - at least I don't think so...
  21. Against teams in rebuilding mode They don't actually have a stellar offense - if they come up against teams that can slow their run, they are in trouble...Their next four games are not cake by any stretch of the imagination...If they win half, I'd be unpleasantly surprised... Charles
  22. I think I laughed even at the Greggo headset comment But my fave is the Jauron on a moped one...How true, how true...
  23. I don't remember hearing this and the last source I want to trust is RealFootball but: "Tucker's only vast experience for one season came in 2004, when he started 12 games for Buffalo. On an offensive line that was average at best, he was one of the few unexpected bright spots. He took five penalties and allowed just 2 ½ sacks that season, while helping the Bills make a late-season playoff push. He was released after the season, thanks to a spat with Buffalo's ex-, robot-esque general manager, Tom Donahoe." (Source:The real reason why Tucker was released? Interesting...anyone can confirm? Where's BillsBabe when you need her? Charles
  24. Maybe it's just the optimism of August, but I have been so impressed by what our front office and coaches have been doing in pre-season. I thought making Jauron our coach was a blah move - but Gawd I think so far he's been a magnificent coach. Not showy. Business-like. Intense but compassionate. I think he's the right coach at the right time. No one is pulling the wool over our eyes. No one is under any illusions. It seems when there is a problem on the field they move to address it. I love it that they're not treating the fans like idiots. Most of all, they're letting the best players fight themselves into the lineup. Who knows what the season holds, I suspect we'll be down more often than not on Mondays. There will probably be a fair bit of tweaking and adjustments thru the season and next offseason with the hopes of mounting a serious challenge next season. But, I'm looking to be pleasantly surprised. At least, I haven't cancelled my Sunday Ticket. There seems to be a cloud or veil lifted from One Bills Drive. None of the paranoia and arrogance that seemed to permeate the atmosphere during the previous regime. Folks seem to be happy over there...I hope that's a good sign. "Shiny, happy people holding hands?" Let's hope so... Charles
