  1. KFFL's Hot Off The Wire is reporting that Jon Goldsberry (FB) and Coy Wire (SS) did not practice either. Though it was citing their injuries as probable excuses. So given the positions (including WR) and seeing how deep the roster is at those positions, I think it's reasonable to presume that this is the first wave of cuts. Charles
  2. I watched Cutler play here at Vanderbilt. Though I think it's way too early to say he's gonna be great in the NFL, I think he'll be very, very good...Way better than say a Delhomme or Kerry Collins. If I had to guess, I think he'll be in the Donovan McNabb class of QB. Albeit with less mobility... Charles
  3. Touche...c'mon you love this stuff...admit it...I bet you read and re-read your posts here just to boost your "rockin" ego... Have a happy...
  4. Wow, that was an eloquent response...What's with the profanity, big cat? Apparently, *you* don't rock, either...
  5. yeah, I don't know how much country radio is a barometer of country music anymore. NRTMN is top 40 on ITunes and the album is #1. Same on Amazon.
  6. Woo-hoo, I'll be at the game...
  7. Anybody else picking it up...? Charles
  8. All I know is that when I saw a Bills game with Flutie in it, I had hope we could pull out a victory. Now, I just hope we don't embarrass ourselves... All this megalomaniac Flutie stuff apparently didn't bother his teammates enough to not publicly canvas in the media for him to start ala Bruce Smith, Eric Moulds et. al. I can't remember anyone doing that for Johnson. I don't hate RJ but really can you think of anyone else in recent Bills memory (with the exception of Lonnie Johnson) who was less deserving of the buffalo on his helmet? I once met Doug at a Wegmans publicity junket. He was nothing but gracious. He embodied the spirit of Buffalo at least for a short time. Fans of other teams wished there was a player like Flutie on *their* teams. I remember Titans fans here in NashVegas saying we had that playoff game all wrapped up before anyone played a down. The sentiment down here was that Flutie is just gonna "kill us (Titans)." The truth of the matter is we had a huge psychological advantage going into that game. RJ, for better or worse, didn't bring that to the table. That was a terrible call on Wade's (actually, I think it was really Ralph's) part. We lost that game (and Ultimately our way into the future of this franchise) after a bad special teams play. I still believe to this day that it wouldn't have come down to that one play if Doug was in for that game. You have a right to hate or like the guy. I don't care either way if you do or don't. He might have had his 'short'comings on and off the field. But, I think we forget that like him or hate him, for a time there there was much rejoicing in Bills-land because we Billieved and there was hope. That's more than I can say now... Best. Charles
  9. Oh, in the grand scheme of things, I think it would be hard to screw up that #8 pick. Williams notwithstanding (as much as I hated stuff TD did, I don't think you can blame him for that pick. A whole bunch of draftniks thought it was a great pick at the time. McKinney (our other possible choice) is now facing prison charges...) I really don't care either way. I'm just confounded by the logic *against* Ngata...Just wanting some clarification... Charles
  10. Well, I don't want to get into all of that...I'm just stupified that someone (Ngata that is) with so much talent and natural ability can't be coached to excel in our system. Again, I have not seen him or Bunkley play - but all this talk of one gap or two gap tackles - I just don't get it. If he's a monster athlete and all indications are that he is - them why won't Ngata work? He's apparently quick for a big guy and intimidating. To add to that, I think his character is beyond reproach. Here are their profiles. It seems to me as far as strengths, weaknesses these guys are almost a wash. Add to that that Bunkley has a history of pretty serious injuries, I don't know...None of these guys are sure things - but if I were a betting man - Ngata has the better upside... Haloti Ngata Brodrick Bunkley Charles
  11. I haven't seen this guy play - but there has been some talk lately that this guy is just a space eater and not too quick. I am no expert - but doesn't knifing thru a special teams wall to block a kick and then running with with the ball qualify as pretty dang quick? Can someone elaborate on just why he wouldn't work in "our" new defensive scheme? ESPN's coverage on Haloti Ngata Thanks Charles
  12. Ralph is a friggin' genius of a businessman...I'd hate to face him in a boardroom...:-)
  13. Gosh, everybody just needs to relax...We'll have great value at #8 - no matter whom we pick or if we decide to trade down. I have more trust in our present regime to get evaluate and get what we need than the previous "brain trust." I don't think there's a position we couldn't get better at,so unless we end up drafting a 7th round projection...I think I'll live...
  14. How come no one is blaming the politicians in New York state who can't see past their noses.... There's no reason in the world - Buffalo/Rochester/Syracuse can't be another Pittsburgh or Cleveland. The lack of vision and the partisan politics in-fighting is just gone past ridiculous with the pissing contests etc. So before anyone exclusively blames the new guard owners - I think taking pot shots at the political leadership is well deserved. Historically, it's always been a case of bolting the stable door *after* the horse has bolted... Many of us love Western New York but it just became economically unviable to remain in WNY. Why should the Bills be any different? Charles
  15. I wouldn't mind getting Brentson Buckner in here for a look. He's older but a great locker room guy...Plus he would be a good mentor for our younger DTs. Charles
  16. Uh...she hates her dad...Her dad thinks she's loony...Frankly, I can't say I disagree with him...
  17. Oops - sorry, with all the huss fuss in Buffalo these days about the Bioinformatics Center at UB, I didn't think it was that obscure. Basically, I work on designing, building and supporting computer applications and databases that deal with data from biological research, in my cases, almost exclusively stuff related to the Human Genome Project. Hope that helps. If not, this Wikipedia entry is pretty accurate: Bioinformatics Best, Charles
  18. i'm not sure what the infatuation with Fabini is about. He was the worst player on a bad offensive line last season. Is he really that much of an upgrade over Gandy? I mean, I'm all for signing quality OTs - but I'm not for the signing of players, just for the sake of it... I'd rather take a run at Runyan...eventhough we have Peters at the RT position. Charles
  19. I doubt he'll get a real dollar figure even close to what he would have commanded before his injury. I mean I'd still give him a healthy signing bonus and that way you can pro-rate his charge over the contract. Maybe someone will offer him a crazy contract - but that's exactly what it would be - "crazy!" Not only does he have a shoulder tear, he has a rotator cuff tear. Now, in this era of being able to repair torn ACLs that might not be much, but it still is a sizeable risk.
  20. You know I agree, I don't understand all this puss-footing. Give him an incentive laden contract. Keep JP as backup or Holcomb. Unless they outperform Brees. I haven't given up on JP, but if you're on the win now bandwagon, this is probably the way to go, If Brees comes back to where he was before the injury, we're set for the next 3-5 years at least. Then we trade Losman next year and wish him the best. Just my 2 cents, Charles
  21. The biggest problem on the O-Line IMHO, is that since Ruben Brown left, there's been no halfway decent player that's also a leader ala Kent Hull. I know Teague being the most "senior" was the de facto guy. But, really no one who could whip these guys into a frenzy. I think Villarial, if he's healthy will step up, but we need someone with some experience and success to come in and act as the "glue." I see no one on our present roster capable on being "the man." Same thing with D-Line. Adams is no leader by example. Schoebel maybe. But, again no leader. I think as soon as we address the leadership factor, things will fall into place. So eventhough Ruben was a sure bet for holding every other play, his locker room influence is sorely missed. BTW, Chris Hovan I think would be a nice addition to our D line rotation. Charles
  22. The irony is that good pass catching TEs who are above average blockers could be so vital to JP's or any rookie QBs development. But for whatever reason the TE went the way of the dodo after Riemersma left - OK Let's hear the jokes - come on you know you want to ;-) Just look at Miller with the Steelers and Shockey with the Giants. Even Witten in Dallas has been instrumental with Drew's game... QBs like TEs...I'm still not sure what Campbell is besides being a "fine young man." Charles
