  1. I generally agree that it's more likely we're better with slauson at tackle GB. Another variable worth consideration is whether slauson himself is better at one position than he is at the other and whether it changes the equation.
  2. He's a smart dude and that's what matters. He knows what he's talking about but isn't totally comfortable conveying it verbally in that setting for whatever reason. He always comes off guarded to me. Did you happen to catch his post draft press conference with Rex? I was struck by how relaxed he seemed. He starts off with the shields up and as the questions go from Doug to Rex and back again and the two of them get to interact with each other a bit, he really finds his chill. The longer you watch the more natural he becomes. You probably know I'm not a big Rex guy but I get the distinct impression the two of them get on well and appreciate working together, especially in contrast to Marrone or Idzik. Pegula
  3. What do you say to some 'backer you play? Or anyone tryna bring tackles your way? Wanna solve things with an incredible gain? Go study a tape of ole Keith McK. Miller has 3 years left on his contract. How is starting the season with him a 2nd teamer giving up on him? Odds are he'd play at some point this season anyway. Three more years before we have to make any sort of decision on him.
  4. Monitor his progress on the 2nd team no need to gamble the season on it. Make players actually earn starting positions. Anyway FYI they're saying they want slauson to compete at right tackle.
  5. I should've taken the blue pill...
  6. Tries to run every ball out of bounds. no you stinker that would literally be CJ Spiller
  7. You can see him giving up yardage to make his incredible cuts at times, yeah. You win some you lose some. Common ground
  8. He's a good back and a blast to watch. He runs with a determination that comes from having a chip on his shoulder. He wants those big plays bad I just don't think his style is a great match. But I said this after we gave him all that money, if he helps us reach the playoffs and wash off the stink , he's worth every penny. Another reason why it's not about his play in a vacuum.
  9. He'll forego the 7 yard gain to cut outside and try to make a big play. And then come back and do the same the next play. Sometimes that results in less yardage. He's also one of the most elusive backs there is so you win some you lose some. He regularly makes something out of nothing, though G Ro doesn't need his backs to do that as much as past Bills coaches have because he knows how to open holes for em. McCoy is insistent on choosing his own hole which to me works better in a more spread offense like Andy Reid's or Chip's. Roman's offense is power run designed for a back to set up his blocks and get up the field in a hurry. One cut runners with power to tack on yards at the end of the run are the optimal fit. It'll work fine because he's a good back working with the best run game coordinator in the league. There were 2 or 3 games this year we wouldn't have won without standout performances from Shady including Color Rush against the Jets, shouldn't be overlooked. But in this system we'll squeeze more juice from a back of the same caliber but who moves up the field aggressively and wants to go with the play and grind. Just one take o course, I don't foresee a huge dropoff when he moves on.
  10. Yes yes yes ! Wonder if we have cap for another lineman...
  11. Nice tools to work with for a 6th rounder yessir. Let's see if Lal is as good as we've been telling ourselves he is. I could see Listenbee getting reps this year because he seems able to track it and catch it. Roman loves his buttonhook routes and newbie may get a cup of coffee just doing that and blazing 9 routes in certain 3 WR sets.
  12. He's a good back but an awkward fit with Roman. We'll ride it out for another year or 2 and then Jonathan Williams all day.
  13. I'm not sure jarran Reed and his college career high of one sack makes the Bills much better. Lawson had 12.5 sacks last year and fared well against Stanley.
  14. Shaq and Aaron Schobel ran an identical 7.16 3-cone. Schobel was 6'3 and a half, 263 lbs. Schobel may be more of a bender but Shaq has more power and will bull rush a lot of tackles. Guys who can get sacks like that make a lot of money in this league. The third rounder is also a rusher rather than a plugger.
  15. I agree with most of this. You're preaching to the choir with regard to the need to get better on the offensive line, the need to sustain drives better, problems with Rex like penalties, late play calls, lack of discipline, poor game management. I've ranted about the mismanagement of the RT position last year after Bulaga turned them down. This year, however, different story with money so tight. Jordan Mills was by their evaluation the best they could afford. The only thing I'm taking up for, I believe, is this year's draft. I think if you look closely you'll find an impressive marriage of need and value that we could not have achieved by forcing the selection of weaker positions in this year's pool.
  16. I like your rundown here Marty, which is easy because I agree with almost all of it. To the quoted, time will tell. My money is on Mills starting in Baltimore opening day.
