  1. Relevant: Cliff Avril agreed to a 4 year extension for $28.5 million with $16 million. Seahawks working hard to keep pending free agents Can back up the Brinks truck for Jerry Hughes if a defensive end with 4.5 sacks just got $7M/year.
  2. Probably OC, but it's like which is more likely: being elected president of the United States or waking up with Kate Upton on one arm and Sofia Vergara on the other, both gently kissing your cheek. You probably have a better shot at president.
  3. Hahaha, this question can be asked just about any time a fan makes the proclamation about who the FO should have signed and when.
  4. Pretty much exactly how I feel.
  5. I think it's folly to assume that top-tier OC's grow on trees. Don't kid yourself, to engineer an offense substantially better than the one we have now, it'll take an excellent OC. So this supposition that an excellent OC is easier to find than a top-15 QB, I'm not buying it.
  6. It's hard to imagine we have the financial resources for four or more of the guys mentioned in the poll, so what do you prioritize?
  7. If Eli becomes available (big 'if'), and you think the Bills will sign him, then which of the following do wish to keep, because you'll only get one: Spikes, Hughes, Dareus? Further, after his draft-day hissy fit, refusing to play for the team that drafted him (San Diego), what makes us think he won't hand pick his FA destination (like his brother did)? And if that's the case, what makes us think he'll pick Buffalo? You think he'll see us as a defensive-led contender, the likes of which he already helped him win two Super Bowls?
  8. You must have missed the part where he's eating vegetable ice cream.
  9. It is what being a fan is about, and I think this team absolutely wants to be a run-first, ground and pound, beat you up on defense type squad. Run the ball, stop the run. There's nothing "trendy" about this philosophy. And while the gaudy numbers being posted by quarterbacks over the last four years have everyone convinced it's a "passing league," the teams that can run the ball when they want then shut down their opponent are always in a position to make a run in the playoffs. The majority of Super Bowl champions, throughout the history of the league, prove this. Yeah. No ****.
  10. No arguments here. Yep. And so long as Chris !@#$ing Hogan consistently falls 40 inches short of the marker on second down, we need a unit that will line up and pound the ball forward for a yard, every time.
  11. While upgrades to the OLine might exterminate the ghosts that have been bum-rushing Orton, the real benefit could be seen in the running game we've abandoned. Our coaches want to ground and pound, and with the suffocating defense we have, a team that can line up and grind the ball down field is damn near impossible to beat, especially with the weapons we have on the outside. Seriously. Think Seattle.
  12. I think it's far, far more likely that they make bold moves to strengthen the OLine. It's a much, much safer bet, granted with a lower ceiling, but with a much, much higher floor than QB roulette.
  13. We lost Stevie and two guys who started games at QB. Not for nothing. We also lost Choice and Graham. Just saying. I would agree that the talent level got better on offense...but not by much. Meanwhile, adding Spikes was no wash. It could be argued that he's made all the difference on our defense. One guy. One addition. You mean to tell me the same can't done on offense...because we run these two TE sets you hate?
  14. In 2012 16 players rushed, caught or threw a ball for the Bills. In 2014, 4 of those players are still on the roster, and one of them is Lee Smith. I'll ask again: does our defense out-scheme opponents?
  15. Yep. And again, I want a football team who can line up to run, have everyone, coaches, players, Jills, fans and beer vendors KNOW they're going to run, and still churn out 3 to 4 yards. Coupled with our defense, that's the kind of team that...yes...wins the Super Bowl.
  16. I'm continually perplexed by the fondness with which Bills fans remember Chan's never-top-10 offenses.
  17. So do you think the defense is out-scheming opponents?
  18. Would you rather spread and confuse? Or be able to line up and drive the ball down the opponent's throat, even when they're expecting it? I'd rather we continue working toward the latter, personally.
  19. And yet others will tell you it's because we play a disproportionate number of our starters on ST.
  20. Well, the organization had the will to fix the special teams last offseason...
  21. Hey, Chris Conte, you stupid !@#$. Dave Duerson. He played your position. For your !@#$ing team. And he was much more beloved than you. Get some !@#$ing perspective, punk.
  22. Honestly, if I'm Whaley, and I want Hackett gone, I find him a HC gig at a second tier D1 school first. I think that's way more likely than just cutting the guys loose.
  23. Ah yes. That **** was...weird. I do remember those several plays when they just kinda trotted off the line and stopped, did nothing, waited for the whistle to blow.
  24. Last year's Tampa game--and it's not even close--was Marrone's biggest black eye as a coach.
