  1. Cut him, I mean that's what we're doing to everyone else right?
  2. I know there are many examples of them succeeding, but they did trade one of their top picks to Denver, and another pick got cut...by us. I don't think it's as black and white as first glance....although obviously they are better at it than we are. After all, if they weren't better at it, they probably wouldn't beat us and finish better than us so consistently.
  3. I like your thinking, but I was gonna say Marcus Stroud.
  4. We have to remember we traded Marshawn after getting some mileage out of him and that he is one suspension away from some big trouble. I'm not a fan of the trade, but if we're going to give a fair analysis we should include all the variables we can think of.
  5. It's all good, perhaps if I had the abilities to watch the games I would be more aware of just how poorly Kelsay is playing. The thing is, at times he is an unsung productive player. I remember in 2006 when he had the most stops for no gain or behind the line of scrimmage where 1 in 6 tackles were in that category (Chris Brown mentioned this in his awards for that season). He certainly can be clutch (new Orleans last year with a sack putting them out of FG range at the time when we were still in the game) it's just a question of is he worth keeping around? Will his play improve as the defense becomes more used to a 3-4? If he is, will what we pay him have any effect on relationships with other players or chance of attracting free agents.
  6. It's more of a trying to rationalize why he was extended than suggest we build around a 31 year old converted LDE to OLB as to try to understand the front office better...
  7. The thing is Kelsay was on the team when we had the #2 ranked defense several years ago. He might not be worth the 6 million, he might be out of position, but he CAN be part of a really good defense as a starting player. Maybe he needs more talent around him for that to work.....but he should be able to be serviceable at least.
  8. I hope it's C and that we start using that talent to get opposing QB's to throw passes to him.
  9. I would think we can work around a noodle arm. Surely he can throw it further than Chad Pennington and he was a good enough to lead teams to playoffs when healthy.
  10. 300 yard games JP-1 Trent-0 Advantage JP
  11. Our sack came from out DT. Isn't he supposed to be the least likely of our front seven to get a sack? Does that mean Kyle is really good, or the others are not. Maybe both?
  12. Fitzpatrick helped engineer 30 points against the Patriots, but at the cost of 2 interceptions. Pretend that you don't know what the other team scored. I would take that EVERY WEEK compared to what we have gotten in the past few years. We scored 30 points against the Patriots, give me that QB every week if he can perform at that level.
  13. Well yes, but let's be fair. With Losman he usually did more than his one trick and put up stats of a #1 receiver the year he and Losman both played 16 games.
  14. I wonder if they're starting to look at this season as the pre-season for next year when they hope we'll be competitive.
  15. Last season he threw at 56% (his worst season) Trent threw at 60%. They were almost the same in YPA 6.3/6.4 which suggests that he checks down less/throws it for longer gains since his completions must be a bit further on average than Trent's to equal around the same YPA. Not that inaccurate via stats
  16. I believe Eric King and Duke Preston are still around.
  17. True, but we'll take what we can get.
  18. However, he did lead our team to more wins than Trent did last year.
  19. If we had kept free agents who we think we should have held on to what would our team look like right now? You can throw in imaginary people we had drafted instead of someone else if you wish. QB's: Losman (sticking with his post 2006 and utilizing deep passes), Fitzpatrick, Brohm RB's: Lynch, Jackson, Spiller WR's: Owens, Evans, Reed, Parrish, Johnson, Nelson TE's: Nelson, Cieslak, Stupar OL: Peters, Butler (would he have retired if we were better?), Hartinger, Levitre, Walker, Incognito, Bell 4-3 Defense DE: Schobel, Hargrove, Kelsay, Edwards DT: Williams, Williams (Pat), Stroud, Johnson OLB: Spikes, Mitchell, Ellison, Crowell ILB: Fletcher, Poz DB: McGee, Greer, McKelvin, Florence, Corner S: Whittner, Byrd, Wilson, Scott Is this talented enough to go to the playoffs...the line certainly seems like it could have been decent.
  20. I think it mostly has to due with Talent of the roster. In 2006 we were able to play close games against teams like the Chargers and Colts even if we had lost. Of course at that time we had: Fletcher, Clements (when he was still good), Schobel, pre-injury KO, Greer, pre-injury Crowell, Peters and some others I'm not thinking of...which makes me wonder if we had held on to these guys and drafted at other spots where would we be right now?
  21. If Kelsay is so bad why does he have the most tackles? Is it because they run at him?
  22. Dear Trent Edwards, If you cannot meet my realistic or unrealistic expectations I will ask for you to be bench/cut/concussed/released(not in the book the Giver sense) because you see why should I have to wait two years when if you played better we could be a competitor now. I understand football is a team game and if other players were better in turn you would look better, but my friend it works both ways and if you played better then perhaps our other glaring needs (an OT, an OT, a WR, a TE, an OT) wouldn't be so glaring. I know it has been one game, but we don't expect you to face defenses that are that much easier to face than the Dolphins. I understand at times that as fans we can forget that A)you're human being who probably works very hard at your job (if you didn't you'd never cut it in the NFL) and B) As fans we sometimes forget football is only a game and your success or failures do not in any way equate to the quality of who we are as individuals. P.S. Can you tell the staff to trade Marshawn? I know he will be a fantastic player, but we really do need an O-line (through trades or draft picks) because then we'll have the foundation to run AND pass. When we can do both as oppose to barely either we can start winning games. P.P.S. If you keep giving these pedestrian numbers, (no offense) as mentioned earlier we're going to replace you with a broom. -Swift Sylvan
  23. San Diego
  24. First let me say I currently live in San Jose and do not own any satellite programs so I'm not really missing watching the game, (yes I know I could buy the NFL package, but I'd rather go to church) although doing homework while watching the gamecast live is enjoyable. I'm going to church an hour after the game starts: 11am pacific time. I plan to go every week or almost every week although I probably will miss church the week I go home for thanksgiving. Getting posts on opinions of the games from BillinNYC, RRich, and others mean a lot because of the fact that I miss the games. I still get to learn about how players are doing beyond statistics. I don't think I have ever prayed for the Bills to win, however if any one of you are suffering from long term illnesses, tough times in life, etc....pm me and I will try to pray for you.
