He should have gotten the promotion 3 years ago. This team is currently on its way to an at best 8-8 season. This is year 3 of Marv's "rebuilding" and this team has amounted to jack squat. The 5 wins thus far have been against the worst in the NFL. The offense is inept, the defense is soft and Dick Jauron couldn't motivate raindrop to fall. The best performance from the O-line this season has been without Peters. I am not opposed to the idea at all. I would bench him and let the rest of the team know that their jobs are not safe at all.

What is this running to the outside concept that you speak of? I thought that a running game must be kept between the tackles. At least I'm pretty sure that's what Turk "God" Schonert believes. Seriously though, running to the outside requires members of the O-line to pull which is going to be difficult since they are a group of overweight broken down dump trucks.

Agreed, while it has been an up and down season for Trent thus far I foresee things becoming very ugly starting on the Monday night game. He has shown difficulty in playing in cold weather thus far and mixing this possibility with a terrible run game is going to guarantee no 300 yard games.

It's all part of Jauron's philosophy of softness, it has permeated its way through the entire organization and somehow this pile of feathers just earned a 3 year extension after two 7-9 seasons and another that has just laid the biggest egg I've ever seen. The problem is that Jauron is more of a friend to these guys than he is a coach. If Jauron ever showed an inkling of emotion I am certain it was by mistake. It appears that he thinks that these meatheads will somehow perform better if they are in a happy and comfortable place. Fear can be a motivator, not all the time but definitely some of the time. I believe that these players probably think of him as more of that "cool" uncle than a coach, you know that uncle that let you get away with more stuff than your parents would have. -Why hasn't he jumped all over the offensive line about maybe dropping a few pounds? They might just be able to pull occasionally so that Marshawn and Fred can get outside. -Why hasn't he jumped all over Turk Schonert about some of the most predictable play calling that I have ever seen? -Why hasn't he jumped all over Fewell about the complete lack of a pass rush and very poor play from the defensive ends? The fact is that he hasn't addressed any of these problems at all, if he had then maybe there would be some change in what we have seen over the last 3 weeks. Jauron is afraid to offend anyone at all and this will always make him a weak coach. Sure his players love him, who wouldn't love the least amount of two-a-days in the NFL? Who wouldn't love short practices? Who wouldn't love a coach who regularly defends poor play and never addresses easily perceivable problems? Jauron is not head coach material, he was a safe choice 3 years ago, nothing more and he will only continue to show less.

90% of me agrees with you but the other 10% wonders if maybe this team would benefit from some drama. It's a very safe team which has translated into two 7-9 seasons and one that is looking like 8-8 at best.

Aside from the "occasionally shows up" Stroud and Williams this defensive line is an absolute joke. Schobel and Kelsay are the two most overpaid and overrated defensive ends in the entire NFL. I would love to see both get cut next season and replaced with players who occasionally try to get to the QB and not sprint to the opposing endzone.

Nope, he was terrible last season too. Am I the only one who finds his style of sprinting 30 yards beyond the line of scrimmage and working backwords annoying? It results in nothing other than non-sacks and huge openings on the ends for running backs to exploit. Agreed that he is the best rusher on this but is in the bottom when compared to any other NFL team. I loved Marv for his drafting but extending the asss-clown brigade of Kelsay-Denney and Schobel was by far his biggest mistake as GM.
