  1. Actually watching some of his play, and not just looking at his stat sheet, I thought he has looked very good. He stands in the pocket and has good awareness there which I wasnt expecting. I think he is more knowegable about the game than most thought he would be too - which is what his college coach said about him. He has always thrown off his back foot which he needs to address.

I've actually thought he has had bad awareness. He was getting people pushed into him but he just sorta stood there and didnt avoid it right away. No slide or anything. He's big enough to get away with it but I wouldn't go as far to say impressed

  2. I disagree, in one of Nix's first statements he said " we are not that far away"

What he didn't realize is that the HC he hired went out and hired mostly college assistants to coach the team, and in doing so elongated the process of building a winner right away.

Good god its been one year people. You want instant results? Go play madden

  3. Yeah, I'm not judging, just reporting. Or observing. Can u imagine what this board would be like if

two weeks before the season Buffalo's new 1st round pick (Newton) was throwing for 40 %?

One of the issues with him pre-draft was throwing accuracy, correct?

I'm sure he will improve, but 40 % is below the "Menzosa" line for NFL QB, 50 %.

    its more like 60%

  4. He MAY do alright as a situational rusher, IF he is surrounded by top defensive players (which he is in NY). He may actually get some "coverage" sacks with the Jets defense, which you know the NY media will shove down Bills fans throats. Talk about insult added to injury.....

    He better get another move

  5. Awareness before the ball is snapped.

This means a lot of things:

    - Is an OLB or CB cheating to blitz

    - Are your WR's uncovered or in a mismatch with a LB

    - Are the safeties cheating up giving your WR's the opportunity to get behind them

    - Should you use a hard count to draw speed rushers (ie: Von Miller) offsides, and not allow them to get a quick start every snap

I have yet to see Fitzpatrick do many of these things. And this seems to have been a problem with every QB we've had here in Buffalo since Flutie and Bledsoe were taking snaps for us. It's just common football sense that you need to have to be a successful Quarterback. It's what made guys like Jim Kelly and Brett Favre great instead of just good. I don't know whether we're not coaching it here, or if our guys just don't have what it takes. But this is one of the BIG things that need to change in order for Fitzpatrick and this offense to be successful.

  6. I understand running base defenses I really do. What I don't understand is not watching any film and preparing for your opponent. It seems not watching film doesn't put players in a position to succeed. They will watch film in the regular season so how much evaluation can be done when preparation is different regardless of schemes that are run?

I bet they only watched a quarter of film because John Fox has had one preseason game as coach of the Broncos.
