1990.   I witnessed some of the wins leading up to our first SB experience didn't  suffer the pain of watching that SB - I was deployed in Saudi for Operation Desert Storm.    Great to watch the Bills offense that season move the ball almost at will.

1973.  I loved watching OJ play.  His skill was preternatural.  Going to a Bills game was like visiting the Sistine Chapel - you would gape in awe - except that Bills games were a lot more exciting of course!

1989.  A fun team:  Jerry Butler, Joe Cribs, the "Bermuda Triangle"...  Breaking the Fin Streak gave me a sense that good times were coming.

1991.  Another great offense and SB run.

1975.  Another great year by OJ as the Bills led the league in scoring, producing 30 points per game (which was awesome  in that era).

Hondo, I listened to the AFC Championship between the Bills and the Raiders on a roof during SCUD attacks brother at King Faud Airport; same thing for the Broncos game on a roof listening to AFN when Biscuit blocked the kick. In 1980 I listened to the Bills - Rams on AFN guarding an ammo bunker in the jungles of Panama; thanks for your service brother!

yes, 1989 was capped off by "he who shall not be mentioned" dropping the perfectly placed TD pass from Kelly at Cleveland in the playoffs....

I'm going to go with the 1980 Bills. Exciting team to watch. Beating the Rams & meeting the Bills at the airport in sub-zero weather!

I loved you uniforms then too.

The Rams game = greatest and most emotional in the teams history; Chuck Knox crying as he left the field then the dancing encore!

  3. 1966 - played the Chiefs to go to the first Super Bowl but lost; I attended the AFL Championship game went home sad.

1973 - OJ and 2000 yards; after six years of really bad football it was great! For those who complain about McBeane or even Peterman you have no idea what bad is!

1980 - loved this team and its personalities; the win against the Rams.

1988 - We were finally back and you knew we would be for awhile!

1998/1999 - Sorry, loved watching Flutie and the defense

It's been a long time coming. But this Maryland/DC native is heading to Buffalo with 4 of his buddies for this critical game. I can't wait! Win or lose, I'm looking forward to it. Since it's been awhile, do you guys have any tailgating tips? My one worry is that we'll be tailgating too much and might be stuck in lines to actually make it by kick off :/ . When do we need to cut it off??

Enjoy, my last one in 2004, but I am 5 -1 since 1980 so my next trip I hope to extend my win streak!

Brees, Rivers, Mahomes = one Super Bowl win in 35 combined years.

    Sometimes losing is exciting.

Winning is great but only counts if you are playing Arena League Football - I rest my case! I would love to spend a cold gray day in an open air stadium with some flurries on natural grass watching smash mouth football, especially if its a Buffalo win.

This reminds me a bit of the 87-88 Bills.  They are getting decent..  Showing signs of joining the NFL, strong defense, offense beginning to figure it out.

Not sure they have completely arrived yet the way the 88 Bills did.

Excellent post, getting there but still in the reboot process, but exciting to watch and heading for better days. If we beat the Patriots Sunday it will be equal to shutting out the Dolphins at home in 1987. If we get beat it does not change anything!

"This is a must win game for the Bills".....and if they lose the theme turns into 2-1 is a good start.

Even if 3-0, the trepidation will grow and gnaw the rabids about the N.E. game.

Unfortunately, I'll be away that week and be incommunicado, and likely unable to see the N.E. game.

Where I'll be will be more fun, but the fly on the wall me will miss the immediate reactions in here.

But I know I won't be disappointed when I can read all the posts, win or lose.

Is there a donation site for this website ? It's better than public TV. Except Downton Abbey.

  8. Do not underestimate the impact of the anthem protests two years ago, the Antonio Brown drama and others, and the fact millennials are really not pure football fans. Certain cities such as Green Bay and Buffalo view teams as tradition, part of culture, family, growing up, through generations; how long that holds up I have no idea. But the NFL owners and players better start paying attention to the empty seats and come up with the right answer then address as needed.

I have friends across the country that spend big money on college but will not turn the NFL on; why?

It depends on the market.  Football has never been important in Miami, for example, but it is a huge deal in the metro DC area where many are passionate about the Redskins.

NY and Chicago are big cities.  The Jets, Giants, and Bears have passionate fan bases.

    LA?   Not so much.

    It depends.

In 1984 I attended Rams and Falcons at the LA collesium  with Eric Dickerson in his prime; lots of empty seats and those in attendance appeared bored.

I want a team that can win a Superbowl.  In a passing NFL.  Having a defense that can wipe out the pass would ideal.  Ramsey added to what we have could be the trick today.  Not in 2022 if Beane is 100% on all his picks.

Nope, keep on wanting it aint happening with good reason, adults are in charge now!

Why?  He doesnt like St. Marrone?  Go figure.  He was a top five pick and actually out performed his contract.  By not willing to extend him they told him he is going to be tagged for a year maybe 2.

Nope, stay away, stay away. We have a great team culture developing why f*** it up; and he would! Build through the draft, know its old fashion and you want showtime, but I want a team with a winning culture!

I’m honestly shocked to hear so many defensive options. Team was 2nd last year and top 5 this year.  But to each their own.

As for Mahomes, I wonder what he’d be like outside of Reid’s system. I’m sure very good, still just saying.

To me, I go offense to create one more piece for the defense to worry about and free up other things.

I didn’t think about Hopkins.  That makes me reconsider my pick, but I think I’m sticking with Barkley

Ya ya, its an offensive league, defense no longer matters - but it does!

Most of the people here are Bills fans, but if you are like me and read these forums or scroll Twitter during the week (especially on game days), then there are repetitive comments that likely get on your nerves made by Bills fans.

The past two weeks, I’ve noticed a lot of these patterns.  How about you?

”We should have never gotten rid of....”

There’s a bit of revisionist history with a lot of Bills fans.  Anytime an ex-player has a good (or even marginally good moment), some fans will pine for a former player, without considering any context and in some cases...logic.  Last year there were people who were legitimately lamenting the loss of Nick O’Leary, Seantrell Henderson, and Tyrod Taylor.  Last week everyone was upset that the Bills moved on from Shady because he ran for 81 yards.  This week he was back to his usual 2 yards a carry.  Ditto for Sammy.  I’m sure if Logan Thomas makes a catch, someone will be like “We never should have gotten rid of Logan Thomas!”

    ”We should trade for __________”

Anytime there is a big name player looking for a trade.  Fans immediately want the Bills to make a move - no matter how illogical the trade might be.  There were a lot of people who would have been happy to see the Bills trade high draft picks for Jadaveon Clowney who is a 1 year rental.  How many people want a trade for Melvin Gordon, again a 1 year rental, who is going to want a phat contract.  Not gonna happen.  Yet I see a lot of comments for people who want and legitimately think the Bills should trade for Gordon.

“You’re not a true fan if you criticize the Bills.”

I belong to a Bills Facebook group where many members scolded other for posting previous comments about how bad the Bills were playing.  LOL.  To some Bills fans any criticism is off base.  I don’t agree with that

I will never understand the abnormal obsession with Watkins; never lived up to first round status, never!

Sweet Jesus.  I’ve never seen so many responses to a passing comment.

The Bills roster would technically be better if those two were on it.  I didn’t say culture. I didn’t say value.  I’m just talking overall talent wise.

Also, I hate that he went to the Pats, but Gilmore went to where someone paid him 15 mil and we weren’t going to be close to that.  I can’t blame him there.

Watkins was always just frustrating to me with injuries. Just amazing potential there.

This isn’t me saying I wish we kept them.

I’m saying it doesn’t make Beane more glorious for getting rid of them

    Virgil,

You are one of the All Pro members of TBD, not your comment that kicked this off. What I seen yesterday was a football team playing to win and the culture developing that many have been waiting for since 1999. No more divas just players wanting to win. Sorry, I lost faith in Watkins year three, Gilmore another story. I wanted the tank and rebuild, not just players but scouting and front office. This team a dumpster fire that scammed us for over 15 years and finally getting serious about winning!
