(In a few days no one will care one bit about this story. So those people who are righteous right now will be back to forgetting bad stuff happens all the time. Get angry at what I say now but you will forget and make a joke in the same manner b.c in the end if we felt bad over every single thing that happened to every human in the world, this world would commit suicide.) Get off your moral high horse!

Sorry throwing a big ass BS flag on this; not funny and pretty childish, no not even childish - moronic!

....July 5, 2009.......had the ribs and chicken on the grill...my son had just helped me clean the pool....said he had to run over to a girl's house and would be back in 20 minutes.....my late wife's cell rang and it was the County Sheriff....."your son was involved in a serious accident and is en route to the hospital.......we're not sure if he will survive"......a call a parent NEVER wants...t-boned by a drunk 19 year old who drank through the day and night on the 4th into the 5th (he died a day later)....my son's Ford Explorer barrel rolled for 75 feet, ending up against a tree, stopping it from hitting a house with him ejected through the windshield....somehow after 80+ stitches and staples, broken femur, 4 broken ribs, collapsed lung and two broken hips, all of which required more surgical hardware than Home Depot could ever stock, we did make it.....today he is a 245 lb monster....PLEASE, PLEASE fellow TBD brethren, BE SAFE this holiday weekend.....

    well put my friend!

OK, I started out "Kaepernick still trying to get a job in the NFL so relevent to TSW" but after reading the thread,  does not seem football-relevant.

I used a "digital decision maker" to decide between Off the Wall and PPP

Well close the damn thing; man, you shut me down for a week for being "hurtful" but let this crap go on; grab your gonads and do it!

    EXACTLY.

This "movement" for "anti-racism" isn't intellectually honest. What it is is extortionate in nature.

Holy Crap, I honestly agree with Joe in Winslow; living in the South for over 35 years those who think the KKK, or any other racist group are popular are either smoking crack or have a political agenda - no one here supports or cares about them; let then die!

Let’s get rid of everything associated with our countries founding, because they all are connected and therefore, offensively evil! Let’s get rid of horses, cotton, and tea for starters! Enough of our racist ancestors and their poison that built the worst country ever formed! A country so terrible, that people flood into here by the thousands just to experience our oppression!

Every business day there are lines a mile long at US Consulates, regardless of weather, to get visa's here; and it's not in Europe!

  6. Who cares; man the season can't start quick enough!! Let's see, he has been out of the NFL for roughly over twenty years and had one notable season and you post this BS!

    That's just strange.

No doubt Bergman is a class act all the way.  But the point is that these guys were.told to create an ENTERTAINMENT Sports network.  The current crop are doing the acne thing Berman and Scott BooYaa Stuart and hot take Cowherd we’re doing.   They have to fill 24 hours of content.  This is how they do it and how they always have.

I bet you couldn’t name too many TV networks that, without them, your life would change.  Also, ratings may be down,  but it is still the only network of its kind and has no real competition.  Their current and unending ratings supremacy is proof that many millions of people are still tuning in regularly (instead of the alternatives),  do its still cool here to say “yeah I never watch ESPN anymore”...the reality says otherwise.

ESPN is important to those who have no life' kind of like many posters on TBD! And there ratings are not doing well; they will continue to attract those THAT HAVE NO LIFE!

agreed.  I loved primetime with Berman and Tom Jackson!

Many years ago I was attending Walter Camp with my younger brother, who wanted to see Rocket Ishmael.  Skrepenik(sic G Michigan) informed us Rocket was sleeping, he knew which room, lets wake up Rocket so he can meet your brother.  Well we couldn't find Rocket- he found a safe room to grab some sleep.  On elevator down, the door opens 2nd floor, and Tom Jackson walks into elevator for ride down.  "Hey what's up TJ?  Carwell Gardner- where is he from?"  "Louisville!" says TJ ?

Tom Jackson, another class act - here is my problem with millenials - do they even know class anymore?

    Well, many will say...

Olbermsn was the original hot take man.  Berman’s first and only shtick was/is yelling and making funny noises over the highlights. Cowherd was there doing his act 27 years ago.

Whatever! I have noticed ESPN ratings are down, so the TBD crowd is not the deciding factor; if they went bust tonight it would not impact my life - nor many others - in any way! BTW, I met Chris Berman and spent some time talking to him years ago - class act all the way!

Berman shtick far outweighs most of what you get on TBD!

  10. Back in the 80's and 90's I never missed ESPN, I had it on continuously; now it not only bores me I don't think 90% of the guests and hosts have a clue. But then again, I don't watch television or (gasp) any of the movie channels, no use for it - garbage in garbage out. I stay informed but will not watch; if it flips your Bic have at it!

  11. Just now, Mr. WEO said:

I will never understand the criticism of ESPN.  It's really the only network of its kind and has been so since day 1.  Guys like Olberman were the original blowhards, but that's why we watched.  Their variety of programming is unequalled and they produce the best non-live sports content anywhere (30 for 30 are routinely outstanding, as is E:60 and OTL is usually good).

Why the beef?  Too much entertainment?  Well, the "E" has always been before the "S", so who's really disappointed?

Why does your post not surprise me, but actually saddens me; we have really lost class and character!

Back when ESPN was great.  Ley, Berman, Charlie Steiner, Dan Patrick, Olberman, Howie Schwab....

It was about highlights and not drama.

    Disney ruined ESPN.

I used to watch sportscenter 3-4 times a day.  Now ESPN is unwatchable

    Another great post!

Yep. The end of class at that station just walked out the door.

So true, I rarely if ever watch ESPN anymore, but I did in the glory years - Tom Jackson, Chris Berman, and Bob Ley; man I miss the old school!

Guy, this is like a speech at a funeral.

Lets bring it down a tad.

For those of us who care and remember class and professionalism, it is a funeral speech!

He was a great one.  I still watch ESPN now mainly for the highlights.  But back in the late 80's and 90's....man I would just keep it on.

Bob Ley was able to bring sports into my life as more than entertainment....he brought substance to sports.  Dan Patrick made you enjoy sports, Chris Berman made you laugh, Stuart Scott made sports cool....Bob Ley made you appreciate sports.  I'll miss him.

Great post, different era back the - class and excellence!

He has three plays that are in highlight reels. Only one of which is a completed pass. Yes he chased down Lett but does that make him a legend? He bounced his head off the ground in what should have been ruled an interception not an incomplete pass. And yes he caught a TD in the comeback game.

That is not a legendary career. Not even close.

The season can't start quick enough, we are getting really bored and posting some real you what!

Jauron was reloading a 5-11 team?  And for the millionth time, it was a self inflicted reload.  McDermott has done a good job with the defense but it was a a defense that before Rex was one of the best in the nfl.

I think SM is a better coach than Rex.  But some of you act like he took over the 0-16 Browns.

Just give Jauron a few more years and he’ll turn it around.

Woookay, enjoy your season and Happy Meal!

I know it won’t happen but I would fire him right now. Mostly for his comments about how he wants to “pass when we have to”  and how it’s inevitable in our climate to run the ball. I’m just not interested in that sort of team. In fact, I think we are due for a few years of pass-only offense.

Here we go, "I want arena football," how about a coach that game plans to win - run, pass whatever it takes!!!

    Through 2 years

    Coach A:  14-18, -113 point differential, inherited a 5-11 team

    coach B: 15-17, -162 point differential, inherited a 7-9 team

if Mcdermott wins 10+, extension.  If he has a losing record, barring a major qb injury or just awful luck and Allen shows progress, he gets fired.  Besides being a nice guy, what has he shown that is elite?  It’s the nfl. You don’t need 5 years to turn around teams anymore.

And coach A was Dick Jauron.

    Fire everybody.
