OK. When was he timed in the 40 and what was his time?
1 minute ago, 4merper4mer said:Not that I think he is terrible but he is ooooooooooooooverrated. He has issues tracking the ball which will be more problematic in the NFL than they were in college..
I think MHJ will have a nice NFL career, but we're not talking about Megatron, or Randy Moss or Julio Jones here, which is how he's being hyped. I'd put Caleb Williams in the same over-hyped bucket too, but that's a whole 'nother discussion.

mike evans rana 4.53 and was scouted similarly to MHJ. I think MHJ completes a career similar to Moulds or Evans
Evans is an interesting comp, but I don't think Harrison is nearly as big as Evans. Evans is just a huge WR, and obviously, he's an absolute dog. It remains to be seen whether Harrison can even run a 4.5.

Skipped Combine and now skipping this. Wouldn't shock me if he's not the 1st WR taken after all. Great film for sure. But I think he's gonna get passed by for one of the other top 2 guys.
Folks, MHJ is one of the most overrated NFL prospects since Sam Darnold. If it wasn’t for his name, he’d be considered a borderline first rounder. Good hands and good size, but no explosiveness, no YAC ability and obviously an entitled attitude. Wouldn’t surprise me if he runs a 4.6. Anyone who takes him over Nabers or Odunze is making a huge mistake.
26 minutes ago, Warriorspikes51 said:well, Marv did specifically say Josh Allen as one of the QB's he'd love to play with. Didn't mention Mahomes....so I already like the guy
Beane should at least explore what it would take to get to pick 4 or 6 for Harrison or Nabers
The Cardinals are a dumb franchise who knows maybe it would be a favorable price.
The Giants connection at 6 would make a lot of sense and likely a fair dealPlease stop with this nonsense.

One disappointing first round pick for another: CB Kaiir Elam to Detroit for WR Jameson Williams. Who’s with me?
They’ll never do it. Williams was starting to come around last year. I think he’s about to have a huge year…

There were a few plays last season where he absolutely abused defensive backs with his speed…

His ranking have been mixed. He had Jalin Hyatt and Michael Wilson in his top 5 last year and no Jordan Addison. He had no Wilson or Olave in his top 5 in 2022 and he had Dyami Brown (who admittedly I was high on too) ahead of Jaylen Waddle in 2021.
He loved Justin Jefferson more than most. He gets kudos for that. But he has been more wrong than right since.
Hyatt and especially Wilson have been pretty good. Simms also had Zay Flowers as WR1 last year, which was good call. He's had a lot of other hits, too.

Weird, the video he’s got MHJ at 3, Odunze at 4?But yeah, even outside his top 5, there’s like 5-7 other WR prospects with decent upside.
I’d love it one of the studs slips into the teens, and Beane finds a way for us to trade into there, even if it means having traded Diggs and a couple other picks. If we hold onto Diggs, still want Beane to take a flier on one of the better rated prospects. Need to get faster, younger and cheaper at WR position.
My mistake...he had Harrison at 3 and Odunze at 4.
What was surprising about Simms's analysis is that he feels that Harrison should be picked no higher than 8 or 9--and definitely not top-5--and he does not see Odunze as a top-10 pick, more of a mid first round guy. He's not predicting that, just talking about where he thinks these guys should go...and when it comes to the lower rated options, he put Franklin in the 40-55 range and Worthy in the fourth round. He was not high on Mitchell, either...thinks he is a late round 2 guy. He predicted 4 or 5 guys to go in round 1.

If Marvin Harrison Jr or Malik Nabers is available at 6, you'd think Beane at least makes a call to see what Joe Schoen would do a deal for
If it's within reason, do we really consider it?
28, 60, 134, 2025 1st, 3rd ?Maybe we could just trade Diggs for that pick…

Chris Simms just put out his WR draft rankings...had MHJ at 4 and Roman Wilson at 5. His WR rankings have been very good...Not saying he's right or wrong in this case, but this points to the fact that this is a very deep class and there isn't much separating the guys at the top.

Poles was getting roasted for only getting a 6th for Fields, so he called up Rap and leaked this to him personally. You gotta think that’s what happened here. Same thing happened last year when the 49ers traded Lance.
If Fields ends up actually playing for Pittsburgh, which is possible, it turns into a fourth round pick. So there's that...

fair points, but do you think it would be worth the investment to trade assets for most likely a one year rental who is pretty expensive for a backup QB? (In a tight capped team)
We're talking about giving up a sixth round pick and the Bills have more late-round picks than they could possibly roster, so I don't think that's much of an impediment.

His forty wasn't bad but his 10 yard split was dead last amongst all WRs at 1.61 His 3 cone and 20 yard was below the median. https://www.oregonlive.com/ducks/2024/03/how-oregons-troy-franklin-performed-at-nfl-scouting-combine.html
A good 40 time even with a terrible 10-yard split supports the idea that Franklin's got "another gear"...right?

Why do you think the bills would be interested out of curiosity?
He would be a fairly expensive backup, and his 5th year option would kick in the following year.
So would basically be a 1 year rental as an expensive back up
I think it's possible. JA and Fields have somewhat similar playing styles. Trubisky has already proven that he's a barely adequate backup, so the bar is pretty low. I don't think Fields on his rookie deal is a very expensive backup, although honestly, I'm not sure what hit he's going to have on Pittsburgh's cap...

OK, if Da Bears motivation was to do the 1st round pick they're abandoning a solid by giving him input into his landing spot, I approve their actions.
It's a business, but not a 100% heartless one
I think it happens a lot with guys who are well-liked within an organization. Ryan Bates is an example.

Just an example of how consistently explosive Franklin was on top of his huge yardage. He had a 30+ yard reception in 12 of 13 games. That 13th game he was hurt in the second quarter and gutted out the rest of that Pac12 championship game. Nabers and Odunze were tied for second at 10 games a piece. He also had 7 games with a 40+ yard receptions which was more than Nabers and tied with Odunze in 2 less games.
Aka he’s a beast
If you watch the tape, Franklin’s constantly running away from defensive backs, even when they have the angle on him…he has another gear.

Interesting, I had not heard that. It might work out for us, then.
I have to believe Franklin's film is as good as anyone's outside the top 3 guys...and it's not like he ran slow at the combine. 4.41 ain't bad...

What were the Bears supposed to do, in your opinion? At least they swindled Carolina out of the first overall pick in the draft, so they have options...

The Bears are becoming the Cleveland Browns of the NFC.
‘They weed the draft of busts, and cut players that will go on to be better, and make senselessly bad trades.
I don't understand all this dunking on the Bears. They have actually made a lot of really astute trades lately. The trade with Carolina last year was brilliant, and their mid-season trade for Montez Sweat was widely mocked, but has turned out well for Chicago; he completely turned around their defense. The only bad one they've made in the last couple years was giving up a 2nd for Claypool. And who are the busts they've drafted? Fields didn't really work out but he's been a lot better than guys like Zach Wilson and he was taken the middle of the first, not at the top. They are positioned to have a pretty strong team this year if they draft the right QB.
6 hours ago, Buffalo03 said:I mean, honestly, if all it took was a 6th round pick in next year's draft, I would have given the Bears that to have as Josh's backup for a year and then we wouldn't pick up his 5th year option so we could just release him. That's crazy
Supposedly, at least one team with an established starter tried to acquire Fields, but Chicago decided to do him a favor by sending him somewhere he would have a chance to play.

It's always fun when you're a fan of a team you know is going after a QB early in the draft. 2018 was so much fun looking at all the tape on the top guys and wondering which one beane would go for
It wasn’t much fun in 2013.

Don't get trolled...Diggs is not getting traded. From a cap perspective, it is virtually impossible. Not Happening.

I'm going with Oregon RB Bucky Irving. He reminds me of Devin Singletary, with better speed. Always, always makes the first tackler miss, doesn't fumble and is a good receiver out of the backfield. He'll be an excellent pick for someone in round 5 or 6.

That Chicago offense is loaded. Way better than a team with the first pick usually would be. Pretty nice situation for Caleb.
Also I think it's safe to say Nabers is going 5.
I am still not totally convinced that the Bears are drafting Caleb Williams. I’ll believe it when they turn in the card.

Not mention, anyone who thinks we could have gotten the 23rd pick for Diggs (or that there is any realistic way to trade Diggs) is detached from reality.

Marvin Harrison Jr to Skip Pro Day

Oh, I don't dispute he'll be drafted high, I just don't think he's going to be a dominant NFL WR.
