Because the Niners are going to want more for a player with a 17.9 YPC that just turned 26

The Niners can want more, but if no one else wants to pay it, that’s really irrelevant.

Thoughts about a trade for him? Could we even afford what he will want? And what would it take pick wise. A proven commodity,  but costly. I'm not sure I would do it because of this amazing draft for WRs.

I'd rather take my chances in the draft.  Aiyuk is very good, but to me he's not a clearcut WR1 and wasn't one in SF...oh, and he wants to be paid.  Seems like a bad year to trade draft assets for a guy like this...

How far can #28, a 4th this year and a 2nd next year move us up in the draft?

well, a good gauge is that in 2017, KC traded 27, a 2018 first, and a 2017 third to move up to 10...so the package you're talking about probably gets you to 16 or 17

I'm pretty sure @GunnerBill has brought this point up before but there have been no wrs picked since the top 4 went off the board.  Now perhaps that is because Bills fans want them to be their for the upcoming pick but I think it's realistic that after those 4 there is a lull and gap before the next wr is picked.

Through 25 picks the breakdown is:

    5 ots

    4 qbs and wrs

    3 dt, edge, and cb

    1 te, og, and c

    0 safety, lb, or rb

through 14 picks there were 12 offensive and 2 defensive players

the next 11 went 4 offensive and 7 defensive.

Seems about right, except that in the real draft, I expect Penix and/or Nix to be off the board by now.

Okay. Something tells me WR in Round 1 just became a lot more likely & moving up to get one is a distinct possibility.

I guess this takes Cooper DeJean off the table in round 1  😀

Would y'all rather trade up in a massive move for a Nabers, Harrison, Odunze then take another guy mid-rounds or use a pick next year to move up and double dip on say a Xavier Legette and AD Mitchell?

I like the idea of a more modest move up for Thomas, who has as high an upside as any of those guys. He’s a perfect fit for what we need.

Diggs has been great for Josh, but the dude was slipping. Never been a speedster and looked to be losing a step. His drops have been up. In KC playoff game dropped a 55 yard dime , gets up and does that "so close" thing with his fingers to Josh.. sort of sums it all up. MAYBE has one more solid year left in him.

Don't think this means we move up for MHJ, Nabers or Odunze. More likely to the mid-late teens or early 20's to grab someone like Brian Thomas Jr or AD Mitchell. around 2

Emergence of Shakir, Kincaid and most likely 1st round pick, youth movement is on. Samuel is a sub 4.4 guy. Brady knows what he wants to do with him. Getting younger and faster.

Agreed. And I think Thomas has as much upside as any of those top 3. Gotta think he’s the target.

  8. The Broncos almost made the playoffs last year with the corpse of Russell Wilson.  That franchise and that coach are not tanking and they will definitely try to find their QB in this draft. I don’t know why you say they won’t draft Penix or Nix…both are real possibilities.

  9. With the 17th pick in the 2024 TSW Mock Draft 1.0, the Jacksonville Jaguars select Laiatu Latu, Edge/DE, UCLA.   We were disappointed when Q Mitchell came off the board to Indy, but Latu, the best pure pass rusher in the draft, was a nice consolation.  Not exactly a need, but certainly a great player at a premium position to pair with our own Josh Allen.

@Might Rather is on the clock.

The Broncos, make no mistake, we’re tanking.

I don’t know how you can look at this team and reach any other conclusion.  In a “trades” draft, we’re going to look to stock some draft capital.

Are we tanking for Sanders?  Maybe.  But it’s a good QB class in 25.

Anyway, that QB will need weapons…

With the 12th pick in the 2024 draft the Denver Broncos select Brian Thomas, WR, LSU.  He might not be the best WR in this class but we’re probably trading Sutton who is going to be 29 in October.  We need to have a rookie on a first round rookie contract.

@LEBills and the Raiders are on the clock.

Who’s going to throw him the ball?

4 Qbs and 4 WRs in the first 12 picks.  I wonder if that has ever happened?

Also only 2 defenders taken so far and both edge rushers.

    Some interesting trends developing.

    Seems about right…

So ... the consensus #2/#3 QB, Jayden Daniels is still on the board at #11.

The Giants, Titans, Falcons, and Jets all pass on him at picks 6-10.

We really think they would take people like Dallas Turner and Jared Verse instead of a QB with Franchise upside?

I typically love this thread, but it's off to an embarrassing start.

In a year like this, it’s almost pointless to do a no-trade mock

I agree with @mannc that Daniels would be the best pick for the Jets, and also agree with you that it doesn't make sense for the current regime in charge.

That's never good for a franchise: When what's best for the team doesn't mesh with what's best for the men in charge.

I mean, is a rookie offensive tackle going to get them over the hump this year???

I would be really surprised if he fell out of the top 3. But one thing going against him is Chris Simms ranked him as his #6 QB in the class. Some will roll their eyes at this, but while Simms has been too high on a couple QBs (most notably Zach Wilson) I can't remember a time where he ended up being too low on a QB. He seems to have a great eye for identifying mechanical issues that will lead to limited success in the NFL.

Simms's takedown of Maye on yesterday's podcast was merciless...and he said that his opinion is not an outlier in NFL circles...he said the Josh Allen comparisons are a joke.

    Nick Garguilo, C, South Carolina

He has an edge to him and is just a classic nasty IOL. He’s extremely intelligent as well as a Yale transfer. I had to deal with the kid, coaching against him in high school. He was a terror then. A LT who moved inside, I think he’s a natural and will probably be one of those guys who is drafted late and starts at center somewhere for 10 years. Great RAS scores as well. Great size, long arms, huge hands. I think he makes it.

    Seems like a McBeane guy...
