NHL Considering Major Schedule Changes
Cornerville replied to millbank's topic in Off the Wall Archives
First off, Bettman and the rest of the NHL heads miss the boat on one thing: The seven-team division in the Western Conference would feature teams that are in either the Central or Eastern time zones. This proves right here it is time to scrap the Eastern and Western Conference names. This is not the NBA Bettman. Reinstate the Wales and Campbell Conference names, please!!! I like the 4 division format, it does put more of an emphasis on winning a division. Not sure how I feel about the 4 wildcard team thing though. -
So if income is a reason for bad attendence
Cornerville replied to Cornerville's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
First off I guess the fact that you could not bring something to the table to disprove what I said, there is a hint of truth into what I said. I know how great Buffalo fans can be. And I say these things because I care about the fans and this team. Buffalo fans are starting to get a bad reputation with other fans as being obnixious, rowdy, etc. My friends call me and ask "why are there so many empty seats at the stadium, what happened up there?" It pains me to hear these things. A lot of Bills fans here like to say bad things about Miami fans, Philly fans etc. Maybe we all need to take a look around our fan base and realize there are the same if not more issues and realize this before ripping into other fans. -
The median income for a household in the city is $38,820, and the median income for a family is $48,678. Males have a median income of $33,246 versus $23,825 for females. The per capita income for the city is $19,269. 10.5% of the population and 7.4% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 12.7% of those under the age of 18 and 9.2% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line. Green Bay I do not want to hear about how so many people travel from all over the state...because the same can be said for people in NY State and even Canada. But just looking at the GB income levels how come they have no issues selling games out? How come fans in WNY, CNY and Canada cannot buy up a lot of season tickets like in Green Bay? I know what you are all going to say, Lambeau Field and tradition...if the Packers played in a cardboard box, they would sell out. Why can't Buffalo? I'm sorry, but to me now Buffalo football fans are no different then most, a great football town only when the team is going well. Otherwise, it is ordinary.

19,000 Titans vs Bills Tickets left
Cornerville replied to Hammered a Lot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
taterhill has a good point about Christmas Eve being a factor...but in the early 90's did the Bills ever play big games very close to Christmas Eve or even on Christmas Eve and have this many tickets unsold? -
-
These Titans trolls are sad. At least Long Island Phil seemed somewhat educated and imaginative.

Good point....but still...that was a long 8 hour drive home after that game! -

Cornerville replied to Hammered a Lot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bottom line: If the NFL was not perfect for TV money (all the games are once a week, mostly on the same day) it would be worse then baseball. Don't put the NFL on some pedestal, the schedule gives the NFL a MAJOR advantage. Plus these cheap baseball teams do get $...they pocket that $ and turn a better profit then the bigger market clubs. -

I think you are forgetting the 2004 Finale vs Pittsburgh. That game was even bigger. Bills won that game: They were in. -
19,000 Titans vs Bills Tickets left
Cornerville replied to Hammered a Lot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
18,000 tickets left??? Cheapest tickets in the NFL, team is 7-7 with a slim wildcard hope...18,000? What has happened to the fan base in WNY? It is hard to say. I think the biggest reason this is happening: 1. Experience at the stadium has declined- I am not talking about the team on the field, but the fans in general. I'm sorry, but there are quite a few Bills fans now I cannot tolerate. And nor would I ever bring any kids to the games. Obnixious, drunk, fights etc. It's sad. How to fix it? Build a new stadium. With a better facility, I believe you will weed out some of the animals that go to the stadium on Sundays. Prices will have to go up, but in a league where the CBA is catered to bigger market teams, you have to pony up the $ to keep the team in Buffalo. No way around that. -

Ralph's Comment: Read between the lines?
Cornerville replied to Cornerville's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Where did I ever say that in this thread? I just found the comment to be interesting and was curious to see what other Bills fans thought of it, end of story. -

Ralph's Comment: Read between the lines?
Cornerville replied to Cornerville's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Same here, or is this comment Ralph posturing to give the appearence he needs $? -
'Then, warming to the subject, Wilson added, “There’s a closeness, a different attitude ... a different atmosphere this year, a lot of camaraderie. We’ve got a lot of really top players ... they don’t get a lot of publicity because they’re in a small market. (But) I think this is a really coming team and if we just have a decent draft this year, we’ll have a possible playoff team with any breaks next year.”' Just bringing this up for discussion...do you think Ralph's inability to mention Free Agency, you know, maybe brining in some talent, is Ralph just forgetting about FA or is this team going old school and just primarily going to rely on the NFL Draft?

What Do The Sabres Need To Win it All?
Cornerville replied to jimmy_from_north_buffalo's topic in Off the Wall Archives
The Sabres need to ensure their defense is healthy and Ryan Miller needs to have his A game to win the Cup. As far as a deadline move, I am not sure who to get...but I guess a Mike Grier type...player who can skate with some grit. -
