  1. WWII vet...legendary broadcaster...class...he was the best. RIP Jim. Jim McKay McKay also covered 12 Olympics, but none more memorably than the Summer Games in Munich, Germany. He was the anchor when events turned grim with the news that Palestinian terrorists kidnapped 11 Israeli athletes. It was left to McKay to tell Americans when a commando raid to rescue the athletes ended in tragedy. "They're all gone," McKay said. ABC calculated that McKay traveled some 4 1/2 million miles to work events. He covered more than 100 different sports in 40 countries.
  2. I am thinking that you are NOT thinking
  3. I was a hockey player and I have played my share of golf...I have no issues with either (but I am a much bigger fan of hockey) but in some way, aren't we just giving Tiger too much attention on a stupid thing and in some way, he wins?
  4. It is the same old lame tired excuse some other hockey fans of almost any team give when their team or player is not performing up to their expectations..they are not trying, lack of effort, etc....I'd love to know how they can say that with such conviction based on watching the game on TV and having ZERO access to the player's psyche.
  5. Marshawn's car was involved in an accident, and to this point, allegedly had a bad lapse in judgment, and allegedly ran from the scene which has made it POTENTIAL criminal matter. If Marshawn is convicted of wrongdoing, he serves his time and needs to learn from his mistake. People do dumb things which I can attest to. but do it again, shame on the person.
  6. The entire season is on Trent. That was decided by a select few
  7. I have zero problem with gays or lesbians, but here is another question: If a man and a woman were 'making out and making someone uncomfortable' and were asked to stop or given an ultimatum, would there be a lawsuit? I doubt it.
  8. Safeco Most of the time, a kiss is just a kiss in the stands at Seattle Mariners games. The crowd hardly even pays attention when fans smooch. But then last week, a lesbian complained that an usher at Safeco Field asked her to stop kissing her date because it was making another fan uncomfortable. The incident has exploded on local TV, on talk radio and in the blogosphere and has touched off a debate over public displays of affection in generally gay-friendly Seattle. I have no link to what these two looked like...not sure if I want to know or not
  9. Celtics in 7...but I am pulling for the Lakers because I hate everything Boston
  10. How about the Sabres?
  11. I have to say, nice job by the Penguins fans staying around and giving their team a nice ovation, and the Pens team saluting them...between that and the customary handshake, those are things about hockey that make the sport great. I think the ratings for the NHL are going up for a number of reasons: 1. HDTV- Hockey is MUCH better on TV in HD, can see the puck better, player movements are crisp etc. 2. "Refreshing"- The other sport we love (NFL) has become so soap operaish at times, and every week it seems we hear of another player being arrested etc. With the NHL, there is more emphasis on the game itself, and that is refreshing again to sports fans who have grown tired of ESPN's theatrics of giving a lot of air time to a punk like PacMan Jones and treating him like he is almost regal. 3. Young Stars- Crosby, Ovechkin, Malkin, Zetterberg, and the list is growing. Stamakos and Tavares to follow in the next 2 years. The NHL has never been as healthy in that regard. 4. Sleeping Giants Are Awake Again- Rangers are contending, the Bruins are back on the map, and the Chicago Blackhawks are on the rise again, and having these 3 markets involved in the NHL again can only help the sport.
  12. Finally, the shoe FITs
  13. Seriously, glad you are ok John.
  14. It was not a tremendous catch but I always remeber 1988 MNF at the Jets, the day the Jets fans burned the upper deck and the Bills torched the Jets 37-14, when Kelly threw a pass, it bounced in the air, and Flipper Johnson caught it and ran it all the way for a TD...ah, the good ol days of just leveling the Jets
  15. I agree, it is usually in good fun, and personally, I do like visiting Buffalo still, going to games there, Duffs, etc..I just could not live there any longer. They make fun of California breaking off and Nevada becoming beach front property: That's cool. Say one thing bad about Buffalo: Cut off water supply and livelihood for millions.
  16. 5. Arrogance about spelling, join the spelling bee
  17. Nice to see WNY has not changed much
