  1. plus he's a really young coach. He may want to actually finish building something before taking off.
  2. that sucks. oh well. Can't say I blame Schott. In today's NFL if you don't win in your first year you could be toast. On the other hand if the Jets' fortunes turn for the worst, the window for HC opportunities can be shut just as quickly. However, I'm sure that issue is balanced out by his last name.
  3. long term political problems - instability. if you go to google maps satellite image and follow the border between Haiti and the Dominican Republic, you'll see on the Dominican side tree covered hills, while literally just across an invisible line, the Haitian hills are nearly deforested and appear barren. Severe mismanagement.
  4. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/...with-the-bills/ Grimm will interview with the Bills Posted by Mike Florio on January 13, 2010 10:04 AM ET Despite reports suggesting that Cardinals offensive line coach Russ Grimm could decline an opportunity to interview for the head-coaching job in Buffalo, it appears that Grimm will proceed. The Arizona Republic reports that the Bills have received permission from the Cardinals to talk to Grimm this week, as the Cardinals prepare to play the Saints. Under league rules, teams that win in the wild-card round may grant or deny permission for head-coaching interviews to assistant coaches in the following week. No hire can be made until the playoff run ends. Per the Republic, the interview could happen on Wednesday or Thursday evening in Arizona, or possibly on Sunday, the day after the division-round game. Even if Grimm has misgivings about taking the job, it makes sense for him to talk to the Bills. The more he interviews, the better he'll be when interviewing -- and the more he'll be asked to interview. Eventually, a sense will develop that it's inevitable Grimm will get an offer. And when that happens, Grimm will have to think long and hard about whether it's the first of many, or the first of only a few. Sometimes, the window closes as quickly as it opened. For more on this point, we yield the balance of our time to Jason Garrett.
  5. thanks for the info. good to know. I'd noticed also that Frazier worked 3 seasons under Jim Johnson in Philly. I wonder if that has influenced any of his approach.
  6. I lean toward B. Schott, but only by a little. I really like his approach to offensive football - dominating lines, focus on run but not ignoring the opportunities in the passing game. He'd also have the counsel (and connections) of his father, even if not officially, to build a very good staff. I think Frazier may actually be more head coach ready than Schott, but I'm not a big fan of the more reactive Tampa 2 defense and would prefer a more attacking style (even though his approach has been very effective). I think he could assemble a great staff as well.
  7. #1 rushing offense in the league. rookie qb.
  8. I've got so much student loan debt and no real job. This economy is a P.O.S. I often daydream about what Pacific Island creditors would have the most difficulty in finding me. Can't get blood from a stone though. BTW I'm leaning toward Vanuatu.
  9. classy. i think saying this makes you a douche. nothing personal, but it needs to be said.
  10. Happy New Year! I'd recommend http://www.fmylife.com/
  11. isn't he an assistant coach for Texas A&M? no thank you.
  12. sorry but if you want to say McClain is a Willis-like linebacker then you cannot just ignore the fact that Willis is fastest middle linebacker in the NFL. You don't have to be a great linebacker to have great speed, but Willis is a great linebacker and much of that greatness is due to his speed. McClain is fast enough to be a great NFL linebacker, but if he runs a 4.7 it's not too likely he's getting picked in the top-10. Also you're wrong about Maybin and measurables. Orakpo had a vastly superior 40 time (4.63 to 4.78) and bench reps (31 to 22) at the combine. Maybin ran comparable at his pro day. The safer pick by far based on measurables was Orakpo. It was his work ethic and faith that he will still grow into his body that led to the Maybin pick.
  13. I only go QB if a guy like Claussen is there. I don't think he will be, so no, I don't go QB in round 1 either. I like McClain a lot, but until he runs a 4.4 40, I don't think its fair to call him Patrick Willis. Willis is very likely the most athletic linebacker in NFL history
  14. there's a decent chance Cody will be there because he's not an every down player and he has a weight issue. Scouts Inc has him rated 52nd overall and other outfits have him around there too.
  15. I'm not sure I really believe his listed height and weight. I'm with you on the LT situation - I'm concerned about not pulling the trigger on one when we have the chance.
  16. that's definitely true. We're gonna have a nightmare situation at DE if Schobel retires. I'm thinking we'll need to invest pretty heavily in free agency at end. Plus its likely we'll let Denney walk and the new folks might not be big Kelsay fans. Though I don't see how that's possible...
  17. I'd like Bulaga at 9 and Mount Cody in the 2nd. Then Pike if he's there in the 3rd. I wouldn't be upset by drafting McClain though at all, we need help in a lot of places.
  18. I doubt they'll be there in the 2nd, unfortunately. Pretty much your stuck with projects that could pan out at LT cause they have athleticism but little experience or bad technique, and solid right tackle only prospects by then. I hope you're right though.
  19. clearly could use him. I'm more inclined to go LT, assuming all the QB's worth drafting are gone by 9. But the more talent potentially available at 9, the better.
  20. nice rundown. This is first realistic Lynch thread I've seen. another real possibility is that he just rides out his contract here as a backup and then leaves.
  21. it would be way less exciting, imo. TO is a future HOF NFL wide receiver. Pete Carrol has only had serious success in what is probably the cushiest college coaching gig of them all.
  22. it started well, but their D, like the team as a whole, completely fell apart during the season. They gave up close to 40 points against the Chiefs with a playoff appearance on the line! also, not only did he fail to win games in San Fran, the team seriously lacked discipline. If it wasn't for his firing, Vernon Davis probably would still be a mega-bust rather than the top young TE in the game and now a team captain.
  23. yuck. That's gotta be my least favorite candidate yet.
