2020 Election is officially Trump vs Biden
keepthefaith replied to transplantbillsfan's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
There is no way on earth that Trump will win NY or be close even if Joe has a stroke before November. -
The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19
keepthefaith replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Our town of 125K population has just 4 patients hospitalized with virus. None on vents. Our hospital was an experimental site for plasma treatment that is rolling out. Administered it over the past couple months. According to neighbor nurse last night, it is "highly effective". -

I wonder if Joe and Kamala asked him if he knows why his son went into the car to where he had a knife and why he did not cooperate with the police? -

God given talent which is not racial, effort, interest in learning, home/parenting environment, influence from teachers/peers, personal priorities and goals. -

Our school district and our town which is very large has armed police in each of several middle schools and each of 5 high schools. Possibly the elementary schools too. I don't know. I'm thankful that police are present. It's a deterrent and in the event of an attack like we've seen in other parts of the country, it can save lives. Having police in schools should provide positive interactions with the students which can build trust. You want to eliminate that opportunity. Fortunately, this is still a state or city or district choice and should remain so. -

Agree with the principles and that so many are now raised with a void in this area. However no good commander sends a soldier or a few soldiers or a civilian into a potential conflict if the odds are poor or there is undue risk unless there is no alternative. Rittenhouse took several risks in what he did. His status as a minor, interstate gun laws, being significantly outnumbered and the risk to others should shooting break out. I find his intentions to protect property very admirable and even heroic, but he now has a long and significant and painful legal battle on his hands at the very least. Even viewing this through a principled prism it looks like a bad decision for a 17 year old IMO. -

If I had a 17 year old son who told me he was going to go to work after hours with a rifle to defend his employer's property in that environment I would have advised him not to go and would have prevented it however necessary. Too risky for not much reward. I'd call Rittenhouse very foolish. That said looking at the videos he performed (there's probably a better word for it) with amazing poise and discipline especially for his age. He was very prepared, much more so than his attackers. He has obviously studied and is trained in the use of firearms and in law enforcement and in the rules of engagement. This could have ended up very badly for him, he easily could have been killed. His antagonists were also very foolish and some paid the price. What's happened in Kenosha is no different than a sibling battle. One throws a punch never thinking about what comes after that and so on. The lack of law enforcement we've seen in several cities in recent months essentially guarantees escalation making these outcomes predictable. Detroit is one city that has nipped this in the bud essentially by making arrests upon the first brick being thrown and not allowing mobs to block streets and loot. https://www.detroitnews.com/story/news/local/detroit-city/2020/08/24/chief-detroit-police-prevented-seattle-zone-lawlessness/5624097002/ -
All the leagues are drowning in political correctness. They don't have the stones to stick to their business of competition and entertainment and remove themselves and the players from the polarizing social/political stuff. They'd be well served IMO if they operated under a policy of supporting some good causes (as they have over the years) and telling teams and players to express their personal and political views during their own personal time. Instead we have players/teams sitting because some jerk provoked police into an escalating confrontation.

She's in the running for worst politician of all time. I'd be tempted to put Hillary above her on the worst list but Nancy might top her as she's been at it longer and had a greater impact on law and policy and fiscal matters. -

Not Shocking: A John McCain ally doesn't like Trump Also Not Shocking: Trump has more support than McCain ever had particularly the McCain in the waning part of his career that gave credence to the fake dossier. McCain equaled swamp. -

Mr. Blake gave up any chance for respect and put his own life at risk when he resisted arrest and presented himself as a threat to the police officers. -

Cam Newton ‘absolutely not’ the Patriots’ starting QB (?)

Tough situation for CAM. New team, lack of pre-season, new system and a really demanding my way or the highway head coach. Wouldn't be surprised if someone else was the opening day starter and maybe CAM takes over after a few weeks. -

In my best Joe Biden: "Come on man!" This post is ridiculous. You're asking the police to manage the safety of criminals who are in the act of resisting and potentially attacking to put themselves at risk of death in the process. It doesn't work that way. In nearly every one of these situations where police shoot a criminal we see the cops take steps to arrest the criminal without harm and the criminals disobey multiple verbal instructions, efforts to restrain and tasers. In this case Blake resists and ignores all that and enters his car apparently to grab a deadly weapon. At that point the police have cause to eliminate the threat. Not slow down the threat, but eliminate it. That I believe is their legal right and how they are trained. 1 bullet or 7 or 70 makes no difference. Eliminate it. Blake and every other American should expect exactly that if they forcefully resist and then pose a threat to a police officer. -

In other news nearly all the rioters use Google which supports the Democrat party. -

So the cops are to blame for not stopping him before he reached for something in the car? Blake would be fine today had he followed the orders given by police. -

Why did Blake make a move to enter his car bent over? What was in the car? We don't know. -

For sure he's defending himself and others there are committing crimes. How this plays out is going to be quite interesting and educational. Sucks that this happened at all starting with Blake resisting and the riots and the escalation. -

Maybe? Is a 17 year old permitted to open carry a gun on public property in another state?
