  1. Unfortunately, the two who we really would trade up for (Brick & Williams) will be gone by #5....unless the Jets draft a QB.
  2. There would not be many Bills fans who honestly believe we can make the playoffs this year....we'd all love it to happen but it would have to take a rare thinker to truly believe it. That being said, what does it matter(in the long run) if we have glaring holes. I'm hoping we take the best available player with each pick, especially the #8 pick. Either that or trade down & get more picks. If Ngata doesn't fit the system & Bunkley is a reach at #8, we should either trade down or select a different possition.
  3. This is (sort of) an example of what I meant, though it expands past just Marv & into the entire organization. IMHO it doesn't come down to "positive" & "negative" opinion, it comes down to "rational" & "irrational"....or "dogmatic" & "pragmatic". A dogmatic, irrational opinion is offensive regardless of weather it is positive or negative. This reminds me of past conversations with friends where 4 of us who followed different teams would enjoy an intelligent discussion of Football possibilities & opinions & the 5th friend(Cowboys fan) would constantly chip in with things like "The Bills SUCK"....makes you want to punch someone in the face. Re: peoples thoughts on Marv, I can now see clearly the reasons for skepticism & pessimism but nothing substantial that should convince anyone he will stuff up(& I'm not saying he won't). Now look what I've done...I've gone all super serious & that is just no fun at all. Rockpile...
  4. I once ate some soup silently while tap dancing.
  5. Me neither, the Brick will not drop this far. Mind you, I agree with their top 8, just not the order.
  6. http://www.draftdaddy.com/MD/GJH_Mock.cfm I hate seeing this sort of thing. It's impossible but my brain just keeps saying "But it's in a MOCK, it must be credible."
  7. Good point, I hadn't really considered that. I guess it is now(& will always be) simple conjecture on how good a coach he was. Regarding the Super Bowl losses though, personally I've always felt that we were unlucky against the Giant(we had the better team) but against the Skins & Boys, we were basically outclassed(they had the better team). I view it that even if his appointment to GM is a desperate PR move, that doesn't mean he can't/won't do a O.K./good/great job, it just means his appointment to the possition was not fully based on his merits.
  8. I did say besides the age reason.....because.... Everything is percentages. Most old people "get dumber" as you put it but, at what age does that happen? How quickly does it happen? It happens quicker in some than others. It happens to a greater degree in some than others. In some, it never happens at all. How do we know how much age has affected Marv? (& there is no arguement that he has been a brilliant man throughout his life) Is he affected? I don't know. Do You?
  9. I have noticed an awful lot of Marv knocking & am honestly interested to find out if there is any credence to it. Marv would have to be considered a legend to the team so....why the knocking? I know he's old so let's leave that reason out. Personally I intend to live a long, long time & don't plan on stopping doing the things I love or doing them well(assuming I do them well already) I fully understand skepticism towards him as a GM but I honestly don't understand why some sectors are lambasting him. Is there something about him I don't know? Please advise.
  10. Thanks for all of your welcomes etc etc. You have provided me with many a good chuckle. It's been encouraging to see the responses, even the one or two cranky ones. Just a few things... No, I'm not Olivia. Nick, I'm afraid our American friends are correct. Cricket is Boring! Nearly as boring as Baseball. Thanks again for all the thoughts...all except for X. Ben. antipodean???? I bloody had to look that up in the dictionary...smarty pants
  11. I totally agree ChicagoRic & thanks for your rare thoughts....I didn't mean you rarely think, I meant your thoughts come rarely...no that's not quite right either...You know what my thoughts are, I think. & Northwestenbill....How safe is that eyebrow??? It would be absolutely ludicrous to trade/or cut JPL. Firstly(as any reasonable thinker knows) we still have no idea what we have in him. Secondly, if we were to trade/or cut him we would be hit with a $2.079M cap deficit. It would simply make no sense to do it. I know some would say... "Since when did decisions around Buffalo have to make any sense" But I think those people are perhaps a tad jaded & unable to make reasonable assessments at this time.
  12. I agree. I've thought for years that '96 was possibly the best WR draft year of all time. It's a shame for Moulds that he didn't have the consistency of QB/System/Coaching staff...who knows, this could have cost him a place in the HOF. It will be a sad day when he goes but.......doesn't Evans look good
  13. McGee gets my vote closely nudging out Fletcher. Both these guys just seem to me to work harder for their Kudos. If anyone has the time, why not do one of these poles for favourite of all time...just remember to include Tasker on the list.
  14. Wow, this is great! You certainly have put a smile on my face. I wasn't going to reply yet but I have noticed some confusion in terminologies. O.K.....DIBS' DICTIONARY Whinger..(though I don't think I wrote this one, it is an Aussie expresison) =whiner, complainer Wanker =Masturbator(though not usually in the literal sense. More figurative in regards to what is being said or being done)...also tosser. (therefore) Toss-bag =scrotum or ball-sack Poof/Poofter =Homosexual(literal)...not macho(general) Gridiron =American Football Footy =Australian Rules Football VB =The type of beer that is drunk by Aussies who regularly use the words above. example quote... "Gridiron! That games played by a bunch of poofs, wankers running around in all that padding. We don't have that in Footy. Get us another VB luv." As you can see, being a Football fan over here has it's downside.
  15. Hi all, I'm fairly new here & am quickly forming the opinion that a large number(if not a majority) of Bills fans are cranky, negative, opinionated, pessimistic, aggressive, toss-bags with little sense of fun or frivolity who take things way too seriously. I live in Melbourne, Australia & am a huge Bills fan. I was nearly creaming my pants(is that too crude for this forum?) when I discovered The Stadium Wall. Imagine my dismay when within a few days I find myself in arguments over innocuous statements, come across countless people who you would think are from Miami by the way they slag off at everything Bills & generally get the feeling that knocking things is the way to be. Is it just me or is it a case of the 'squeaky wheel'? You guys don't know how great you have it. I dream of being able to go to a Bills game...even if we got thrashed. Please leave me some encouraging thoughts...though I expect by the end of this I will be argued with, slagged off, insulted & generally told that my opinion is rubbish & that 'yours' is the only one worth having. Gee, now look who is the negative one....AAARRRGGGHHH it's catching. Thanks All
  16. That would have to be the MAIN factor wouldn't it? Is he healthy enough at this point to invest good money into? If yes, done deal. Especially since we wouldn't have to worry about GB reworking EMs contract to get the deal done.
  17. Wow, that was all very aggressive. Is there something wrong with you? If you bothered to read what I wrote(without automatic negativity) you would see I was simply saying it is just as stupid to say "AAARRGGGHHH, everything front office is doing is terrible & it will be years before we make the playoffs" as it is to say "Yippee, all is going to be fantastic. We're gonna win the Super Bowl!" I honestly thought from your heading post "Does anybody agree with me? If you disagree, tell me the main reasons you are so optimistic." that you were interested in others opinions(since you asked for them) in the hope someone else had insight that you didn't...or maybe you just meant it as a dare. In regards to my references to the Rams & Pats, you asked people to "Highlight the changes so far that will turn this 5-11 team around." I was pointing out that sometimes we simply cannot tell what is going to happen. Furthermore, your statement of "Regrettably, I fear the Bills won't really have great success until the ownership changes." I was pointing out is unjustified & equally full of emotional analysis. My point again...Being overtly positive or overtly negative at this point in time is stupid By the way, the "analysis" quote was from your earlier post so don't take too much offense from it. & never forget...a smile is just a relaxed grimace.
  18. What about the Patriots? Took the whole thing in Belichicks second year. Or the Rams? Did anyone except for the fans using "Emotional analysis (that) can lead to interesting rationalizations" predict anything but losing seasons the year before these teams won their first super bowls? One team did it with BIG signings...Faulk, Timmerman, Trent Green( ) The other with below the radar value free agents such as...um...that guy...& that other guy. I'm not saying all is going to be great & we will win the Bowl...that would be stupid. What I'm saying is that it is also stupid to predict DOOM & GLOOM. Remember kids...if you don't have anything nice(read constructive) to say, don't say anything at all(unless it is funny)
  19. Who's plan? At this point I would think Preston starts at guard - the wishful thinking is he blossums into a solid starter. If we had obtained Wells from the Cards it would only have cost us a 6th rounder for a better player. By all reports this is a very deep draft with good depth throughout the 3rd. We would want to be very sure of a players abilities to spend a first day pick on them. The cost difference would also have to be a factor. Any offer would have to be enough to make the 'Skins balk, which would be a lot higher than a third rounders salary. The extra money could help in countless areas.
  20. I wouldn't be giving up a 3rd rounder for him though.
  21. Agreed, it would not be a shock but after going for the best OT in FA, & with no top one left apart from Backus(Lions-who I hear are going to re-sign), I'm expecting the Jets to grab Ferguson. 1 Bush 2 Williams 3 Leinart 4 Ferguson Mind you, they need a DE now that Abraham is gone.
  22. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/ap/football/3746939.html For all those praying he would fall to 8.... mind you, it should mean one of the QBs drop for us to tade down with
