  1. And then it was I think initially only brought up due to the Bills extending his contract. I am quite accepting of people who question the extention as they have reasonable points. The trade however did not involve extending his contract. If anything, the concept that the Eagĺes had to eat several millions in dead money due to the trade should be factored in.
  2. If we traded EJ for Rodgers would you be saying a similar thing? At some point I think we are allowed to look at a player who has been a multiple all-pro and say that he is better than a young unproven talent.
  3. Does UFO also stand for Unidentified Floored Object?
  4. There is little doubt that the Eagles ended up fine regarding their RB position through FA......but that wasn't part of the trade. The trade was Kiko for McCoy, straight up. The fact that the Eagles managed to find a replacement for McCoy(which they were very lucky to do after trying two other lesser FA RBs), or the concept that the Bills chose to give McCoy an extension are totally irrelevant to the trade. A superstar RB who has some mileage on his legs and who supposedly didn't fit with Eagles system, for a potenial star LB who has some injury concerns and didn't fit with the Bills system. As the trade wasn't Kiko and Murray for McCoy, the Bills easily won the trade.
  5. That doesn't sound very sane to me.
  6. I think that you are perhaps over rating it somewhat. There would be many factors as to who you can get and why they would come. Luck plays an important role. Unless one brings their assistants with them, the right coordinator needs to be available. We couldn't have aquired Pettine, Schwartz, or Roman for that matter if they were not looking for a job. Rex had a strong relationship with Roman. I think that there is little doubt that that relationship is the reason that Roman is with the Bills now. I don't think the same can be said about Marrone in regards to him obtaining Pettine and Schwartz. It seems to me that the reasons for Marrone's DCs taking the job had little to do with Marrone.
  7. It looks like you are right, Punisher, Blade and Ghost Rider are back with Marvel. No mention of any future plans for them yet.
  8. Yes to both questions. At the risk of allay any doubts to me being a nerd I will fill in some details(with some of my own nerd opinion thrown in). The characters chosen for the netflicks shows are all more street level characters(Iron Fist by virtue of his regular association with Cage), and they will all cross into each other's shows. Cage will be appearing in Jessica Jones, and if the comics are anything to go by, likely Daredevil will as well. Also JJ and DD, plus Iron Fist are bound to be appearing in the Cage show etc. The character that will likely be missing from Marvel's stable of street heroes will be The Punisher(due to screen ownership issues). I believe that the gritty versions of the characters that are portrayed come from the time when writer Brian Michael Bendis was writing Daredevil. At the same time as his Daredevil work he also wrote a new book entitled Alias. The mature story of a self loathing, powered, ex-one time supersuit private investigator with PTSD, Jessica Jones. In this book he crossed into the Daredevil world and reintroduced Luke Cage. Though the comic only ran for 28 issues it was IMO one of the best mainstream(part of a major superhero universe) comicbooks ever writen. As the A.K.A Jessica Jones show will draw largely from the original source material, and considering the quality of the DD production, the show could be really something special. In terms of overall MCU(Marvel Cinematic Universe) tie-ins, that is of course speculative. Considering however that the SHIELD show has introduced Inhumans, and we know that last Marvel movie planned to date will be called "Inhumans"; coupled with the knowledge that the Netflicks series's are slated to run through 2019(Defenders), the same time that the second Infinity War movie will hit the screens; and that all of the netflick shows will be tightly intertwined, it would be a decent bet that the Marvel TV shows enter the big screen for the big finale.
  9. Haha, awesome. Don't forget those webellious Stawk children Wob, Bwandon, Awya and Wickon.
  10. I very much agree with you. It seems to me that the writer's strength is in the dialog, and when getting to write with a preexisting plot they did a great job. Now that the show is going away from the books' plotting, the writers are showing severe weaknesses in their abilities. For me the show has quickly moved from fantastic to simply meh. ....and that Dorne scene reminded me of The Life of Brian when the People's Judean Front snuck into the palace at the comically coincidental time as the People's Front of Judea.....then fought. "Drop your weapons" was what was said by the guard in GOT....what I heard was "Thwow him to the fwoor!".
  11. Yes, watch Deadwood. It is in the extremely good category.
  12. Kiko. Injured for the season, and then traded. Never got to wear it.
  13. I think that this is a very good point, that the 4th/5th WR(Hogan or Goodwin) will get even less plays on this roster due to the excess of talent we have.....and it has helped me form a preference now for Goodwin. My logic is as follows. Assuming that Hogan is the more consistent receiver(though I'm not fully convinced that this is the case), he would be the obvious selection over Goodwin when determining the #3 WR as the role would likely involve the need for the best hands to achieve 3rd downs, and the benefits of having blazing speed would be somewhat reduced. The 4th/5th WR however is often a different situation. As you pointed out, they are only used sparingly on the field. Having a guy whose sheer presence on the field can effect the D(minimally forcing safety to factor him in on decision making), and who can theoretically take a chunk of yards on the rare occasions where he does get the ball is far more advantageous than having the better hands/route runner. Adding a small(or even decent) percent chance of ball completion on a small percent of a very small number of plays adds very little compared to being able to effect all of those very small number of plays and have a theoretically bigger result when ball is actually caught. I think the ST aspect is a wash as both Hogan and Goodwin contribute. Goodwin likely gets the nod here as keeping Goodwin allows the cutting of Thigpen. I am still hoping we keep both, but for this season(only this season as Harvin is only on a 1 year deal) I now think Goodwin will get the roster spot over Hogan.
  14. If that were the situation.....where Cassel looked like a solid vet backup and both EJ and Taylor looked better(with better upside), with Taylor looking the best.....surely one would run with 3 QBs for the start of the season just to make sure that how the guys looked in camp and preseason was reflected in the real games.
  15. I think it pertinent to note that prior to Whaley joining the Bills as Assistant General Manager in 2010 the only "star" the Bills had in the previous decade (give or take) was a punter.
  16. What if Garappolo pulls a Brady? Just another day in the Patriots locker room isn't it?
  17. What's up with all of these silly "what if" threads? What if Garappolo is good? Bummer. What if we win the SB with Tyrod? Yippee. What if Brady plays at a high level for another decade? Bummer. What if EJ becomes a legit GOAT candidate? Yippee. What if EJ gets cut? Oh well. What if the NFL cancel Brady and the Pats penalties on appeal? Grrrr. What if Cassel makes the probowl again? Yippee. What if the Bills don't make the playoffs? Grrrr. What if Clay gets injured? Bummer. Do any of these sort of questions even need to be posed....or answered? What if the sky is blue when there are no clouds?
  18. Hell no! Take the easier game every time. We can prove to the world that we are good during the following 14 games and by making the playoffs.
  19. Ta-mah-toe, to-may-toe. Same thing. http://www.thesaurus.com/browse/adequate
  20. I am of very similar mind to you, though I think 2 games for coaching and another 2(easily) for the player additions. I know probowls are not a great talent indicator but... We lost a probowler in Spiller, upgrading to an all-pro in McCoy.....and added 4 other probowlers and Clay. My minimum will be 12 games.
  21. In fairness to the writer, they have Hughes as 9.5 sacks in their stats section.
  22. In regards to Goodwin, the thing that caught my eye was the game in 2013 where we didn't have SJ or Woods and had to rely on Goodwin to do more than just sprint down the field. His stats were 6-81 and a TD that day.....and he looked very sure handed. If he could only stay healthy.
  23. Pettine is not Rex. Rex's last 10 years as HC/DC: Defensive Rush YPG rankings: 9, 2, 2, 3, 8, 3, 13, 26, 3, 5 Defensive Rush YPA rankings: 8, 2, 1, 5, 4, 3, 7, 21, 1, 6 His rankings last year with the Jets of 5 & 6 were better than the Bills' 11 & 14 Pettine may have learned all he knows from Rex....but I doubt that Rex has taught him everything that Rex knows. Pettine rankings with Bills was 28 & 23....and was 32 & 28 with Cleveland last season. Also, Rex's only non-top 10s were with Pettine as his DC. Rex has a fantastic track record of stopping the run.
  24. I used to be a big collector. Comics, cards, books, magazines, games. Though I still have a lot of my old collections(15,000 comics, 1,500 books etc) I only collect in a very limited fashion now.
