    Just a quick heads up for former HBO programming fans. I just started watching some of Showtimes orignal series on Netflix after hearing so many positive reviews. Dexter and the Brotherhood are incredible shows for those starving for original programming like HBO used to have. Not to mention Californication.

    100% false. It totally depends on your situation and the market where you live. Sometimes you are better off renting, sometimes you are better off buying.

    There is nothing wrong with taking a loss, it doesn't mean you made a bad investment, you just didn't live there long enough to see a return. It happens. In a market like WNY, you'll typically have to live in a home for about 5 years before you see any type of return when you sell.

    If you own waterfront property in WNY you will see a bit more appreciation over a 3 year period. I doubt very highly Stogan is living on Grand Island. While I don't work in real estate in WNY, I do in NC and have friends in WNY that do so I am familair with the market up there.

    It absolutely depends on where you live, the real esate market is local in nature. Dude lives in WNY.

    If you are selling after 3 years, you would have been better off renting. The only thing you have been paying is interest on the loan, not principal. You'll take a loss.

    If we cut ourselves off from foreign oil and drilled up in Alaska, the amount of oil up there would not even last the US two years, and that is if you use VERY generous estimates. There just isn't that much up there. People think it is our own private Saudi Arabi up north. It isn't.

    Do you know how much it would cost to extract oil from Alaska or squeeze it out of shale? The reason it hasn't been done isn't because some hippie is crying, it is because it isn't cost effective. You honestly think some tree hugger could stop big oil?

    The fact that our dollar is in the tank and we felt the need to invade the middle east has a hell of a lot more to do with it than the Chinese, although they are becoming an increasingly large factor.

    They think Kraft will be able to sue everybody now, including the Herald and Spector for claiming they taped more than then claimed they did. It is really quite pathedic. Good times!! I think the second post on this page just about sums it up.
