I would be just as scared of riots in rural areas should Obama win. There is a certain amount of venom just below the surface on both sides that have each's yahoos on edge.

Did get written up for grilling one of Mayor Brown's cronies at one point on a contract issue. The reporter never talked to him, just used the deposition. My brother just asked the same question 20 different ways till the guy finally answered in exasperation.

I can appreciate your concerns on this deal and over Obama... should be a separate thread, but in lieu of that, I don't believe McCain's words on this either, although he will be more committed to getting all the troops out when it is time, support for them when they get home after military service is not a Republican strong suit. I don't think, if he is elected that the Dems will want to open themselves up to much criticism on this front, so I expect them to make a real effort to support the troops, too many Dem veterans already serving as congresscritters. That being said, it appears that Obama is listening to Powell on that front... we shall see, it is still an issue open to interpretation.

Actually that seems reasonable, but I what I was balking about was extending the lowered interest only loan for 5 years before it becomes unaffordable through a likely interest rate hike... More borrow and put off the foreclosure till a later date... It may help out the bank, the government and the short term econ crisis, but I don't see how it solves the long term problem of the homeowner being over their heads, whose ever fault it was for giving them the loan in the first place.

Sounds like the Bank executives protection act. Unless there is some real guarantees for homeowners who have lost their equity, what good does this do??? If I am in this situation, I still put the keys on the counter and walk away. Guarantee me a lower payment and interest rate for the life of the loan and then we'll talk.
