  1. If you are going to sign a previouly underperforming RB- I would take a chance with Chris Brown.

Julius Jones is exactly what we don't want - an inconsistent fumbler

Jones may have dressed for all games, but he sure didn't get the critical carries and was always dinged.

    not thanks

So was Tiki Barber until he started to carry the ball differently. Maybe that's all Thomas needs to do is try the "Tiki Technique". I still believe that it would be a good trade for us. Jones is a solid back. I wouldn't swap picks and take Jones straight up though. They'd have to throw in their 3rd rounder or something else as well. Then we could package a couple of picks together and move up to get someone else we really wanted in the draft, maybe in the early second round. Someone like Eric Wright (CB UNLV), a WR like Steve Smith (USC), or a second LB after we get Beason, Posluzny, or Timmons. Maybe David Harris, ILB from Michigan. Or even Tim Shaw who was Posluzny's running mate at Penn St. and performed exceptionally well in his workouts. Then we could move Posluzny to his position of comfort at OLB, have Shaw at the other OLB position, and Crowell playing the middle. I think that would be a LB core that would be something special for years to come barring serious injury.

  2. I like Julius Jones alot. I'm a big ND fan as well, so I watched almost every college game he played too. He runs hard and has pretty good speed to go along with it. He's pretty agile also. I'd take him over Chris Brown ANY day out of the week. This possibility is interesting too. I heard the king of all draft tards, Mel Kiper, say that the Bengals were eying Beason though. That means he would be off the board at pick #18. Posluzny should be there unless someone moves up to get him. Maybe NE, just to try and stick it to us and because Bruschi is getting old.

  3. With Peterson I worry about the injuries too. Especially the collarbone injury. That part of your body takes a pounding when you play football and his got broken from just diving into the endzone. I'm almost scared to think of our team giving up alot to move up, get him, and pay him primo money because of his durability questions. He is definitely a good RB. But he runs upright, which tends to lead to more injuries.

  4. http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/492975

His ypc went down after his rookie year, but he does play for the Lions. He does seem to be reliable as a receiver out of the backfield though. I was thinking more about Tatum Bell with this thread though, but threw in Jones name because I didn't know if the Lions were maybe a little tired of him. The main question I have about Jones is if he can stay healthy enough to be a major contributor. He's battled injury the past couple of seasons.

  5. The Lions have a plethora of RB's right now with Kevin Jones leading the way. Then this offseason they get Bell in a trade and sign Duckett. Not many moves the Lions have made under Matt Millen make much sense to me, like the addition of both of these running backs. I can understand Duckett to be the "thunder" to go along with the faster more agile Jones, but why Tatum Bell? It makes me believe that they want to have a guy to move for another pick, maybe? I'm not sure. I've heard so much talk of Turner, but what about one of these two guys. I think the Lions would move Bell before Jones though. So I guess I'm asking what would you all think of Tatum Bell being in a Bills uni next year? He's young and he's definitely got speed (runs low 4.3's in the 40). To me, he seemed to be pretty solid in Denver. For some reason though he never seemed to gain the full backing of the staff and they decided to trade him. I don't know if he's got any major "character" issues or not. He just seems like another guy that would feel like he has something to prove and would relish a shot at being "the guy" in a new setting. I don't think Detroit is a place where that will happen with Jones on their roster. Put him in our backfield along with the power running style of A-Train to spell him and I think we might actually have something. Just a thought. What do you guys think?

  6. I think we would take Lynch if Peterson and Willis are off the board. But I'm starting to wonder about the possibility of trading down a few spots to get an extra pick or 2 (maybe from Green Bay so they can grab Lynch?) and taking Posluzny. I'm starting to wonder about the whole "Crowell to MLB" possibility and it's interesting. Marv had success with a LB from "Line Backer U" (Penn St.) some years ago and maybe we get another one who works out as well for our team in the end.

  7. Touchy? I don't care lol I was just putting that out there because I wasn't sure if anyone knew that yet. I wasn't trying to act like a know it all or touchy.

LOL!!! I was just joking around dude. I knew it wasn't serious at all. Just saying that maybe we could take a shot on the guy. None of you can honestly say that Shaud Williams is better than he is.

  8. Chris Henry (RB) from Arizona is what I've been saying this whole time. And we would be able to get him with our 1st pick in the 3rd round. He's 5'-11", 230lbs, ran a 4.36 40-yard dash, and he's only 22 years old. He's got a Jamal Lewis body-type. He had a leg injury a couple of years ago, but has recoved completely. I think he'll be a steal for somebody, whether it's the Bills or whoever.

  9. Meacham is a good WR overall. He has sub 4.4 speed, is 6-3 215lbs., can catch the ball in traffic, and has pretty good leaping ability. I believe he had almost 1,300 yds receiving this past year and that's playing against SEC competition. I think he'll be a good WR for years to come barring serious injury. But I would not take him #12 over all, not with our needs being RB and LB above all else.

  10. Well now he is Domanick Williams. Name change.

He is just as injury prone as Brown is.

Again I think Marv is done with the RB spot unless a trade for Turner happens before the draft. Which as a fan I'm still wrestling with as if I want him. I mean I want him. But for what price? I don't want to give up that #12 spot for him.

So sorry. Didn't know some people were so touchy about dude's name. LOL!!! Anyway, you can't tell me he wouldn't be a decent addition if he comes in for less than a mill a year for a couple of seasons. I'd sign him whether he was Dominick Davis, Dominick Williams, or Saint Dominick if the price was right given the numbers he has put up before in the recent past.

  11. I think that I would take a dhot on Domanick Davis. Two years ago he was the Texans "RB of the Future" and after an injury, he's out. I think we could probably get him for cheap and who knows what could happen when he steps on the field. He almost certainly has to feel he has something to prove to the Texans and the other teams that have passed on him. Why not take a shot on him?

  12. The Giants got Droughns to replace Barber when they already have Jacobs, the Cardinals lost Leonard Davis, the Steelers let go of their consistently Pro Bowl performing LB, and the Jags have done absolutely nothing but re-sign an injury prone RB and a career 3rd string RB. Atleast we have done something to help our young offense. I agree that we're building for the future, but I still don't see how we've done worse than these other teams. That's just my opnion though.

  13. The people we lost that were major contributors to our D was Fletcher and Clements. Besides the first defensive play of the season and a meaningless last game, Spikes was a total non-factor. Clements was a good NFL CB. He played well against the pass and the run from the CB spot and that's HARD to find. He did gamble at the wrong time sometimes though. Fletcher was a tackling machine, but they were all tackles for 4 yard gains by the opponent. Look at his TFL stat from last year and you'll see what I'm talking about. I think Ellison played good for a 6th round rookie that was sorta thrown to the wolves. You even heard Spikes say in his ESPN interview that Crowell is going to be a special player for years to come. I think our FA signings this year have earned us a grade of about a C-C+. We definitely improved our O-Line and that bodes well for all aspects of our offense. Our defense has taken a hit, but not in an irreplacable way. We can get starters out of our 4 first day picks to fill the 3 spots of RB, CB, and MLB. People are also forgetting about Youboty in all of this. He's having a full off-season to get ready as well. He could very well step into Nate's old spot and play good. He is almost in the same mold of Clements as to how his game is, atleast from what I remember seeing from him at Ohio St. He's not afraid to step up against the run and was solid in coverage. He's not a typical "Shut Down" CB, but neither was Nate. He just got paid by the 49ers like he is or something. And with teams basically going to a 2 RB system these days, all we need is a solid young RB to split time with A-Train for now that we can mold into a feature guy by giving him a little "OTJT". We'll get a LB with one of our 1st 2 picks of the draft then address the CB and RB spots with the remaining 1st day choices. On the 2nd day, we'll probably get a 2nd LB, maybe a TE, and then the best remaining players that we feel are on the board.

  14. I think Roscoe is our perfect fit at the Slot WR position. Remember the game against Jacksonville last year? I think he proved his worth to the team that game. Zemaitiis would be a quality addition, but I would like it if the Bills would keep Parrish. I don't think I would make this move. We will still probably be able to get Eric Wright, CB from UNLV, with our second round pick. He's a good cover CB with speed. Hopefully our 1st round pick will be Patrick Willis. Then with our first 3rd rounder we should take Chris Henry (RB out of Arizona). If Willis off the board, I think we go Marshawn Lynch and will pick up a CB even later in the draft because we would address the LB spot with a 2nd round selection taking David Harris (ILB from Michigan). Harris is a big, strong kid that I think would look good in the middle of the Bills defense for years to come. Then in the 3rd round we could go with Josh Wilson out of Maryland or David Irons out of Auburn with out first 3rd. All in all, we really have ALOT of options this year.

  15. Michael Turner IMO is a beast and can step right in with the Bills and be a 1200 yard, 10 TD back....I bet a 2nd rounder and maybe a 4th can get it done.

No way. San Diego has already said they wanted atleast one 1st round pick, if not two. They said something along the lines of maybe settling for a 1st and 2nd or an early 3rd. They really are asking too much for a guy who's never been a feature guy. They're trying to butt-rape somebody and Lord knows I hope the Bills don't bend over.

  16. I say anywhere between the 4th and 6th rounds in the draft. 4th if some one has basically all their needs already filled and can take a shot that early, like Denver did with Clarett a couple years back. I think 5th or 6th round is where he'll end up though.

  17. 1st Round- Patrick Willis / LB / Ole Miss

2nd Round- Justin Harrel / DT / Tennessee

3rd Round- Eric Wright / CB / UNLV

4th Round- Chris Henry / RB / Arizona

6th Round- Derek Schouman / FB / Boise St.

7th Round- Kasey Studdard / OG / Texas

I don't think that Olsen will be around in the 2nd unless hell completely freezes over, though I wish it would  . Irons is a good choice for a RB. He definitely leaves it all on the field every time he plays, but I'm a little unsure about him in the pro game. If we trade McGahee and get another of couple picks I would grab a TE and anyone else that could fill a hole. Just say we get a 3rd and a 5th. I'd try to get Tim Shaw/ LB / Penn St. with the 3rd and Clark Harris / TE / Rutgers with the 5th rounder. I think that would be a good draft for us IMO.

  18. Lynch would be a good pick, but I think that Pittman will be around in the 2nd round when we get back "on the clock". If we trade Willis, we should get atleast a second for him(hopefully). We could probably trade him to one of 3 teams. Either the Texans, Browns, or Packers. That would give us an extra pick to address the other needs that we have as well as get a RB too. That way we could take Blaylock from Texas at #12 to sure up an OG for the next 5-7 years because he is that good.

With the pick we get for trading McGahee, pick Pittman early in the 2nd round. With our second 2nd round pick we could go after a LB or a DT. I think we should go LB and pick up one of these guys Rufus Alexander-Oklahoma, Earl Everett-Florida, Brandon Siler-Florida, or Buster Davis-Florida St. Alexander would be my choice, personally.

After the second round we could pick up help for our DL. Carriker from Nebraska should be around if we look for a DE and maybe Harrell from Tennessee at DT will still probably be on the board in the 3rd round. I'd go after Carriker. I'm not sold on Denney playing opposite of Schoebel at all. I don't think that McCargo has even been given a chance as of yet, so I don't want to pick another DT relatively early in the draft.

4th round we either go after a CB or WR. Maybe DeAndre Jackson from Iowa St. or Eric Wright from UNLV. If WR, then maybe a Jarret Hicks from Texas Tech or Ryne Robinson from Miami of Ohio or maybe even Ryan Moore from "the U" could all be around. This is where it starts to be a toss-up for myself. I would probably get a CB. Jackson probably.

From here out we could look at DT, possibly another OL prospect, hope to find our own version of Colston @ WR. All these thoughts are not even considering what we do in the FA market beforehand. So depending on that, all of this would be subject to change anyway. What do you guys think?
