  1. I watched that game. At first I couldn't believe the lack of effort on the punt return. Guy was race-walking in the vague direction of the punt returner. But then I remembered it was the preseason. You don't want your pro bowl punter blowing out his shoulder trying to stop a punt returner at the 6 yard line in the preseason. He should've been given a raise. kj
  2. He didn't have a "flu." He had influenza. 103 degree fever, too weak to stand. To suggest that he was loafing or called off sick is ignorant. kj
  3. And now I've learned 2 surprising things in this thread.
  4. So by extending the route did he make himself less likely as a target? To make Shady more open? This is entirely new to me.
  5. Is the suggestion that Woods did something different by adjusting his route to make the ILB adjust ("attacked..."), or that the play as designed did that? I really know next to nothing about this game. But I'm curious how much latitude the receiver has there and, if he is adjusting or doing some freelancing, what he would see that would make him do that? Edit: rewatched it, and it is clear you are saying he changed his route. Did he do it to get open, and the by product got Shady open? Or was his intent to get Shady clear of the LB? kj
  6. The "due process" piece came in when he signed a contract agreeing to the terms of the CBA. He surrendered the rights, they weren't taken from him.
  7. Only kinda related, but in 2012 the Bills drafted a linebacker named Nigel and another named Tank, and neither worked out. That will stay with me. kj
  8. Pretty sure NFL rules prohibit a club from participating in two sports in the same city.
  9. Actually he is 100% right. You are comparing two different sets of outcomes as though they have the same impact on win-loss record. If I make 58% of the 2 pt conversions, that doesn't necessarily result in more games won. Going for it all the time and having success greater than 50% only means the team will have scored more points at the end of the year. It doesn't mean that they success will be evenly distributed across every game. In fact, you can guarantee it won't. So your successful conversions will cluster in games against weaker defenses and your unsuccessful ones will cluster in games against stronger defenses. At the end of the season you will point to the extra points scored across the season and shout "analytics!" But your record won't necessarily be better. kj
  10. "Myth"? Nothing mythic about his lack of effort. There is no reason to give Subpar Mario a pass for anything last season. Let's not let the problems with Rec overshadow one of the great check-cashers in a Bills uniform since Billy Joe Hobert. kj
  11. The Rosenhaus thing seems odd to me, and honestly like a publicity stunt. (In talking about The agent here, and not JM.) He signs him and days later discovers he is a train wreck and drops him? Did he do any due diligence? Google search?
  12. It's just a shame BB saddled Brady with the Asterisks because of his giant, amoral, sociopathic ego. The cheating, both the proven and the unproven, will follow Brady forever. And should. kj
  13. Yeah, that's s better way of saying what I was getting at.
  14. Wasn't the 'slap' of them rehiring them worse, though?
  15. Please address the legality of the employee stealing game balls.
  16. What is the right punishment in a situation where a team employee steals game balls right before a game? And how does your proposed punishment disincentivize future behavior of that type?
  17. Just stop. A Patriots employee stole game balls. That only a draft pick was forfeited is a blessing for the Patriots. you're the legalistic one here kj
  18. Nice. That was like a double reverse flea flicker.
