  1. Year End Predicitions: Bills: 11-5 Dow Jones Industrial Average: 50,000 oops I mean 5,000
  2. Basing a coach's competence by the way he addresses the media is ridiculous. In fact, the better coaches in the league are ALL bland say-nothings. I live in Philly and Andy Reid is constantly villified for saying those exact same nothings week in and week out but still has the highest winning percentage in the NFL. Ditto for Bellichick. Get over it. What do you want him to do, throw a few players or an asst. coach under the bus every week? Give nothing away, dont divide the team, keep it even keel...fine with me.
  3. Agreed. Losman and McCargo were both trade-ups into the 1st round. Lets put the kabash on that strategy in the future. I'd be interested to see a list of "2nd pick" first rounders around the league and how they have fared. Brady Quinn comes to mind as a recent example, jury still out on that one although he hasnt played his way onto the field.
  4. Simply fishing for upset specials. He also mentioned Raiders over SD and Texans over JVille. Pandering to the betting audience.
  5. The over/under is a concussion by halfway through the 3rd quarter.
  6. Still shaking my head over Gilbride winning a Super Bowl.
  7. I'm for all purpose yardage and the backs are getting are getting more involved in the passing game and playing in space. Is Jackson reminding anyone else of Larry Centers, the last time our offense could score from anywhere on the field?
  8. Is it all up to our new OC? Sorry, couldnt resist.
  9. Edwards and Pennington are practically the same QB- decent game mangers, and to this point below average arms. JP's gun and ability to stretch the field is a nice change of pace in case of a Trent injury, and thats good to have with a backup. Opposing teams will not have game planned for it. I put forth last year's game against the Jets as an example.
  10. I agree for the most part. I would add that the "it takes 3 years to develop" rule of thumb constantly rolled out on this board probably applies more to a receiver stepping up to becoming a #1 than being able to contribute as a #2 or in the slot because of the extra skills involved in taking on constant double teams at the NFL level.
  11. I live in Philly, and for all those who wished for Brinson Buckner at the draft be glad they didnt. Hugh Douglas called him a "little B word" on a radio show the other day, and said he was having trouble picking up the defense in the easiest position to learn in football.
  12. Went dark for me halfway thru the 2nd quarter, did this happen to anyone else?
  13. Jerret Bell of USA Today like much of the national media fails to even mention JP in his sidebar about the first round quarterback class of 2004 and their development ahead of Rivers. JP is becoming the Ken O'Brien of the draft of 2004, a complete afterthought vis a vis the talent drafted with him even though he's starting. Although, I had to be reminded that O'Brien (and Eason and Blackledge) were all drafted ahead of Marino in '83. Cant help but find it irritating.
  14. Thanks, glad to be here. My level of pessism and seething jealousy for our northern rival has reached a point where it wouldn't surprise me if Tucker won offensive comeback player of the year for the Pats. Billychick and Mularkey could switch teams and he'd still mark us down for two W's a year....whats that saying, he'd taken his'n and whoop our'n...
  15. Has anyone commented on Billychick's quiet signing of Ross Tucker for the Pats? He sees value where Donahoe sees crap and vice versa and guess who has the better track record. I cant believe Im reduced to saying this but releasing Tucker, especially for Bennie Anderson, was yet another step back for a creampuff O-line and now we are probably going to pay double for it. Billychick must be laughing in Whitey's nightmares....
