Missing Merriman, Williams and Kelsay didn't help against the Giants. But Edwards is in WAY over his head, has been since he took over as DC, and Gailey's misguided sense of loyalty towards him is troubling. We have NO bona fide pass rusher. So I would take issue with your first sentence. This is a passing league and if your defense can't dial up some legitimate pressure on an opposing QB, you are eventually going to pay the price. We can't so we do. Stats prove it. Besides, I don't have any confidence that Edwards would effectively use the aforementioned bona fide pass rusher, so it's a moot point.

And this team needs a new DC. Edwards has been, and remains, inept. He's a linebacker coach who is in way over his head and Chan's misguided sense of loyalty to him is very troubling.

I honestly don't think they have the personnel to blitz effectively. Merriman and Williams being out didn't help. Even so, George Edwards is a wretched DC.Chan has played the loyalty card with him FAR too long.

The O has been moving the chains and is #1 in the league at scoring in the RZ, not to mention #3 overall in scoring, period. I'm pretty sure that when Chan finds a good matchup between our receivers and another team's DB's, he'll turn Fitz loose and capitalize on those matchups. I could be wrong, but I doubt Chan is going to have Fitz throw deep in order to placate the yapping chihuahuas on the wall who just HAVE to find something with the offense to B word about. Yes...the missed tackles reared their ugly heads again last game, just when it seemed the Bills had gotten over that infuriating habit. I agree, we have to put 'em on the ground when we tackle 'em. And delivering forth the royal smacketh on Vick a few times to get his attention wouldn't hurt, either.

He certainly has the potential to go off on us. However...he tends to be somewhat injury prone and he doesn't want to get injured, either. So he may not do a lot of running unless he has a wide open field to do it in (which our defense has been allowing) or late in the game if Philly is behind and he has to. Our D tends to over pursue the QB from the sides of the pocket and leave the middle open. Our DE's don't have the speed to contain Vick on the outside. I hope our game plan takes those two things very seriously.

Key will be containing Vick. Bills have had a bad habit of leaving the middle wide open for QB's to run for 10+ yards and Reid & Vick know it. Our DE's don't have the speed to contain Vick on the edge, either. I don't like this match up at all.
