Best QB/player the Bills have had in a decade and a half and still getting better. Great leader, great player, fun to watch, most exciting, great ambassador of the Bills. But .... away with him ... bring me another ... like he's a court jester.

I don't like Tyrod... but I'm not sure what choice we have. Unless they find a QB in the middle part of the draft like Dak Prescott that unexpectedly starts out of the middle of nowhere, they're essentially stuck with him. I don't like Cutler. Rivers and Romo will command more money than TT and I'm not really sure they are more than Bledsoe-type caretarker quarterbacks.
EJ will be gone. Hard to gauge Cardale Jones in one quarter of action, but he seemed pretty raw and I wouldn't enter next season with him as the #1 quarterback. They probably pick up a quarterback in the draft, and bring in a journeyman, Kelly Holcomb-esque guy to compete with TT for the starting job.

Maybe my math is off, but after his 2 starts last year I'm pretty sure he's started 16 games and the Bills have an overall record of 6-10 when he starts.
10 starts in 2013
4 starts in 2014
2 starts in 2015
And 1 start this year and out the door.

I think you have it right in your second sentence - Rex needs the players to be exactly right. I think our players couldn't do what Rex was asking them to do because they're the wrong players for it.
I know Dareus has lots of talent, but I think in the NFL the difference between superstar and JAG is probably milliseconds. When he's doing what he does best, he's good, when he's trying to fill a different role he's just those few milliseconds slower that he's lunchpail. Which would be OK in Rex's D if we had the versatile, stud pass-rushing LB and the "island" shutdown corners he needs, but we don't. And even if we did at one point of the season, by the time injuries go down, we won't have exactly the right guys.
Which is why in todays NFL the scheme must adjust successfully to the players.
You're also correct that Rex and the coaching staff's execution of the scheme was a problem.

And if it's true Whaley wasn't thrilled with Rex, I expect that being unable or unwilling to work with the players on the roster (example: Russ Cockrell, drafted by Whaley in 2014, looked promising, poor fit for Rex's scheme, cut, and now playing a lot for Pittsburgh) would be a big reason why.
That is the problem. They were successful the year before Rex. When Rex got here they didn't continue with that success immediately and never bought in.. Probably some players were internally vocal about it and as a group just always looking in the rear view mirror at their past success...

A horse in the barn always has more potential than a horse at the track. Jones on the sidelines = future potential. Whaley doesn't want to go into this offseason with these QB questions answered.

Ole Ryan needs to understand batting practice doesnt mean a bat is involved it means a fight you are 100% certain you are to win. Like Ryan vs me the next time I am in Virginia Beach. Let me know Ryan and I can let you take out some frustrations on me.
