  1. I assume those that want McCown over TT are also hoping the team tanks to get a 'guaranteed great' QB in the draft?

You mean The great QB coming out next draft from that left coast school who hasnt had a QB play a single down in 51 consecutive Super Bowls? Then be suprised when it doesnt work out?

  2. Before the game I told my wife how it would go. At the end of the half it would be a blowout for Atlanta but the pats would win. They always claim coaches make adjustments at the half. No the script just changes at the half. No I didn't watch it or any other game is season.

So have you retired on all the Moneyline bets you made on the Pats at 10/1 and up in the 2nd half?

  3.

Nope. McCoy ran for 5.4 ypc....a career high.....just to get the numbers that he got.....and he still missed time with leg injuries again this year despite only having to carry the ball 200 times. 1500-2000 yards requires a 300+ carry back and he's not that guy any longer. That is for the beasts of the game. McCoy is a scat back that has had to get smaller the past couple of years to keep the scat in his game. Zeke he ain't.

Gillisie averaged 5.7 vs McCoy 5.4 this year and last year Karlos averaged 5.6 vs McCoy 4.4

Compare that to 2016 Levian Bel 4.9 vs D. Williams 3.5

    2016 Zeke 5.1 vs. Alfred Morris 3.5

How much of what McCoy achieved is due to the system he is in the last 2 years as opposed to him being the "Best"?

  4. Brady is in WAY better shape than Romo. He is also the best qb, whether we like it or not, who ever lived.

Amazing the details that are completely ignored... Romo hasn't played a full season since 2014 and is one hit away from possible paralysis but since he is younger than Brady he will revert to 2014 form... Same people that clamored and defended EJ Manual...

  5. Great question! I think that the Bills having an interest in Romo is a ticket selling move. He is 90 years old and brittle, but he's a big name. By the time he is hospitalized and out for the year, the season tickets will have been sold. This move has Brandon written all over it and Whaley will be happy to oblige by throwing away more draft picks.

Meanwhile Whaley will draft Romo's successor this year and with a new coach and potential future QB on the roster there is no way he is fired after just one season. Brandon/Whaley just bought themselves at least 2 more years... The healing doesnt start until the swamp is drained.

  6. You are misreading the situation here GunnerBill. This devotion to Taylor does not exist. It looks like it because so many have to deal with ridiculous nonsense by a few of the anti TT crowd who literally manipulate information, make up stuff, and simply state false things to do anything to get people behind the idea of cutting Taylor all together. They simply post passing yard rankings and completely ignore the production with his legs, the impact he has on the run game, and the facts that we were one of the highest scoring teams in the league with him under center. They do everything in their power to devalue any production, scoring, etc that Taylor achieved. Its these stupid posts that bring out the people defending against that non sense.

The vast majority, including myself, feel that Taylor has holes and areas he needs to improve on and I havent seen anyone speak of Taylor as if he's irreplaceable. But, we also know that our defense was a far bigger problem and that we can compete this year with even a modest improvement to the D. We also recognize that Taylor has had to deal with his best playmakers frequently being injured, terrible RT performances, 2 OC's (really 3 going back to Balt) in 2 seasons here, and dealt with a some injuries on himself. And he still has less than 2 full seasons of starts under his belt. So there is still reason to believe he can improve in some of his weaker areas moving forward as well.

With a better coaching staff suited for the personnel on the D, the return of Shaq and Rags to start the season, Dareus here the full year, and what ever additions we make in FA/Draft in the secondary...its easy to expect a reasonable improvement from the D, if not a significant one. At QB however, there is no easy path to a better option right now over TT. No one is opposed to finding one, but the reality is that they don't grow on trees and good QB's are not typically available.

You see, the biggest difference here is the anti TT crowd (which is really only the same few boasters) have made ridiculous absolute declarations about him, labeled him the biggest problem, and will change any story to serve that agenda at all times. While the rest of us look at him logically and realize we could do a LOT worse than TT, there isn't a clear better QB to replace him with, and that this draft is not an ideal year to cut a guy like TT and go all in on a questionable prospect.

Post of the year and last year also.
  7. Thinking about trying a couple swordfish steaks tonight. I usually marinate in teriyaki sauce and grill the steaks while basting with melted butter and minced garlic. I really like the flavor that this method provides. I have never tried them in the sous vide. Any suggestions? I have the time and temp but I am unsure about what to put in the bag with the steaks. Should I just put a little teriyaki, butter and garlic powder? Or wait until I sear the steaks to add the butter and garlic?

I'd marinate as usual and sous vide with the garlic. I'd wait on the butter use during the sear.

  8. Nonsense. To progress from being really good to great you have to have a top rated quarterback. Atlanta made that progression with Ryan, filling the holes in around him. Taylor is not a top rated quarterback and is unlikely to become one by next season. The fact he may not be retained by the Bills validates that. So fill in all the holes around TT and you'll still likely not be in the Bowl next season.

If he is not retained the only thing that is vindicated are those that think Whaley is a !@#$ing idiot.

  9.

No offense, but actually I would say you are wrong about this...you see I DO know the answers to those questions, and I don't think you do. I think you assume and believe your assumptions based on your opinion of him, but I actually know the exact answers to those questions you presented and have posted that information quite a bit. I don't say this out of disrespect, but it gets really old around here when people claim factors that don't actually add up. I am not going to go into all of them because you can read about them in other threads where I posted them. But I will address one here to show you what I mean and also because a few people keep posting nonsense about this particular item.

Garbage Time: I hate this false claim, its utter non sense, and I don't blame you as I am sure you believe it, but the truth is that it did not occur basically at all the entire season. Garbage Time is when a team is losing bad and then compiles easy points at the end of the game of those bad losses while the D essentially pulled some players and played soft because the outcome was already decided.

    1. 8 Losses with TT as the QB.

    2. 6 of them were by 6 points or LESS. None of those games consisted of "garbage time", they were all 1 score losses and games we were in late into them.

    3. The other 2 losses by more than 6 were to Oakland and New England.

    4. In Oakland we were up 24-9 in the 3rd quarter and the D gave up 4 straight touchdowns. The Bills scored ZERO in the 4th...so cross this game off the list of garbage time.

    5. Against NE, we only scored just 7 points in the 4th quarter. So, at most as we sit right now, there were a total of 7 points out of the 399 we scored on the season that qualify for "garbage time".

    6. We were FIFTH in the NFL in scoring under Taylor, and every team in the NFL has "garbage points" opportunities. NONE of you have backed out ANY garbage time from ANY other team. Yet the Bills only amassed SEVEN points in garbage time, which is nothing and has NO change in our offensive scoring ranking even BEFORE you back out the teams ahead of us garbage time.

    Screw it...lets address another.

How did we score so much and lose so many games: Lets look at the REAL defense. That means lets check the 15 games other than the ONE fluke shutout that was an anomaly because the Pats were without Brady, Gronk and had a 3rd string rookie QB with an injured hand. Yes, we can overlook this fluke because those are extreme circumstances (NE and Brady dropped 41 on us a few weeks later) and not a TRUE indicator of how we played the other 15 games if we want to asses WHY we lost despite our scoring power.

    1. We gave up 25.2 POINTS per game, which is 26th in the NFL. Under TT, we scored at least 25 points in 10 of his 15 starts and averaged 26.4 points per game. But when your D surrenders points at will and is at the bottom of the league, it makes it really hard for a team to win. NOTE: If Brady plays week 4 and hits his average production against us, we drop even lower. If he does what he did to us a few weeks later we fall to 28th in the NFL.

    2. We were a running team. A running team that still averaged over 26.4 points per game, which is both hard and rare to average so many points when running is first form of attack. When your Defense keeps surrendering points, its puts more pressure on a run first team to have to KEEP scoring, and late in games, have to score fast because the D put you in a tough position.

Screw it: Time of Possession (TOP): As a running team, we were still explosive and had many quick strike drives in both the passing game and running game. Our TOP was poor because our D was awful. Show me a bad D where the team had a great TOP ratio...go ahead, try and find one.

Well now we are almost through your list, so lets finish.

Why did he run so much: Already answered above, but in case it wasnt clear...that was our offensive design in the first place. Tyrod is not perfect by any means, and he left opportunities on the field when he ran too soon, but he also has less than 2 seasons of starts under his belt and can easily improve in this area. But the main answer was that our offense was built around him being a major contributor with his legs and he created a TON of points and plays that would have been lost if not for his legs.

How many times did we score wen we needed a score to take a lead or win a game? First off, this is not a stat that falls directly on a QB. Second, someone posted an article about how Aaron Rodgers is 0-35 against teams with winning records when down 1 point in the 4th quarter...so CLEARLY, this is not just a QB stat because we KNOW Rodgers is Elite. More importantly, how many times did penalties kill drives by other players? How many times did we have the lead late and our D gave up points to lose the lead putting the pressure back on the offense? How many times did Taylor get the ball and have 1 or no timeouts because Rex wasted them earlier or we had injuries cost us some. How many times did a missed XP or FG by carpenter make it so we needed a TD instead of a FG? How many times was Taylor without a healthy Sammy or other playmakers?

There are a LOT of factors that go into this, not just what did TT do. And lets not forget, he is a young QB in terms of on field experience and still developing and had to do so with a turbulent staff, 2 OC's in 2 seasons, and without his best play makers often hurt.

    :thumbsup::worthy:

  10.

    2017 Bills Schedule
Away - New York Jets, New England Patriots, Miami Dolphins, Kansas City Chiefs, San Diego Chargers, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, Cincinnati Bengals
Home - Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, New England Patriots, Denver Broncos, Oakland Raiders, New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tennessee Titans

For those who want to pick up the option, take a look at this 2017 schedule and tell me a realistic number of wins for the Bills with Tyrod Taylor starting. IMO, the win total is 6 wins, 7 wins tops.

Jets, Dolphins, Chargers, Panthers, Broncos, Saints, Titans are the 7 games that are potentially realistic wins (this is expecting splitting wins with the Jets and Dolphins). I think this is a very fair projection.

So the question is, if Taylor QBs the Bills to 7 wins, is the front office (or Bills fans) going to stomach him being the 2018 starter? Odds are probably not. So now you're on the hook in 2018 for 18 million in cap money of which could have gone to stacking the offensive line and bolstering the roster in free agency to help out a third year QB like Jones or a newly drafted QB.

I know that fans want to believe in Taylor, but if fans are being truly realistic, there is just no way you can pick up the option because the odds are Taylor won't be the starter in 2018 and you'll need that money to help out the team in other areas.

#1BillsFan running up the white flag in January.... The games will be played starting in September not last month. Many things can happen to both our team and those on this list before then.

  11. He won't restructure

Well then that shows a major lack of confidence on this part now doesn't it. I do not happen to agree with you and you gave no reasons to support your position.

I'd be happy with that so long as the raise was reasonable. I'd give him an extra $2-3m in 2017 to be able to get out cheaply after that season if he would take that. If he lights it up next year then you tag him.

Actually those were the exact numbers I had in mind
