  1. A Top 5 passing attack combined with this rushing attack would have obliterated NFL offense records. People have lost their minds. Taylor is a very good young quarterback who played in a run-first system. And that run-first system worked and he was a big part of it. Was he perfect throwing the ball this year? No. There was a lot of factors that contributed, but in the end he finished 17th in the NFL in passer rating after finishing 8th a year ago. That's far from terrible.

I would put the odds of finding an upgrade over Taylor in one offseason at about 5%. If the Pegula's and Whaley are willing to gamble with those odds then good luck - I'm not going to support it by renewing my season tickets.

Thing is a top 5 passing attack would come at the expense of rushing attempts. Lots of folks around here cant grasp that causation of total yards is attempts.

  2. Yea it should be pretty easy to get the hottest coordinator right now, with a two time Super Bowl Champion father or a top college candidate who can make $5 million plus a year for 20-30 years to come to a team who:

Had a 1st time head coach quit after two seasons. that the team wanted to bring back but he thought it was too dysfunctional (Second time during the drought by the way).

Have not made the playoffs in 17 years.

Have had 6 different full time head coaches in those 17 years.

Has frequent front office leaks to the media that pins coach and front office against each other and affects the game on the field. An hour before the biggest game of the season, it leaks that Rex is going to get fired. WTF is that?

Finally, hangs their new interim coach completely out to dry to be the face of the franchise after they just fired their HC, who happens to be one of the most famous coaches in sports.

Please try to tell me with some facts why this job is going to be desirable to the top coaching candidates out there?

Sadly your post is spot on.

  3.

Two games, one of which came against the Jags.

It's funny b/c people talk about garbage time stats here with this offense, but last year's game against the Jags was one heaping pile of garbage time trash as the Jags played prevent defense from the 2nd quarter on since they were up by about 3 scores (b/c of EJ and EJ alone).

EJ is good for about a turnover a game, at least. His total TD/total turnover ratio is as bad as it gets.

So we cherry pick 2 games and compare that to an entire season..

  4. Much easier to fall off thag cliff though hitching your wagon to a QB that cant consistently have good football games with his arm.

Put it this way week 1 shady tears a knee you dont think scoring is going to fall off a cliff.

But you took that chance hitching the next two years to a QB that struggles throwing the ball and taking an offense on His back

And still avgs 23ppg on point off a TT led bills offense

Can you please provide the link to the statistics that shows EJ Manual averaged 23 points a game for a season?

  5. I didn't love EJ's play at FSU (I'm an alumnus and fan) and thought he was a good developmental prospect - not a 1st rounder. He was clearly the best available QB that year though - anyone with a brain knew Geno was a trash system QB whose stats were all padded with 5-yard dumps that went for big YAC.

We do know from both of the last 2 seasons is that he's been the best QB on the roster in preseason play. That's not worth a lot, but it's something, and it's certainly worth finding out if he has, in fact, developed some since we last saw him.

If you don't think TT is the long term answer, then keeping EJ around until we find that guy makes a lot of sense.

Refresh my memory didn't his college coach say that he wouldn't be much of an NFL player before we decided we knew more than the man watching him everyday at practice and drafted him.

  6. IMO, the Bills biggest problem, is its loosing culture itself. The Players get accustom to loosing and are not willing to make the sacrifices needed to win. I witnessed that in Saturday’s game. Some players were unwilling to fight for every inch of the field, weather it be on defense or offence, especially when it was needed the most. Some players are more concerned about protecting themselves, then getting a win. That’s a failure on the coaches’ part by allowing this selfishness to go unchecked. Players should be benched this week for their lack of effort and unwillingness to sacrifice for the good of the team during last week’s game. Rex was too soft and had to go. Anytime you hear the term “ A players coach” it means they are soft and will not hold players accountable for lack of effort. I honestly believe he underachieved with this team. He is not their leader; he is their friend. A recipe for failure IMO.[/size]

You think any of them will look at getting benched in this meaningless game as a punishment?

  7.

Eh - weren't they at like midfield when he ran out of bounds though? With 2 minutes left?

Guy has a problem with QB running out of bounds mid field with 2 minutes left??? Isn't that what you are supposed to do in a 2 minute offense conserve Timeouts. I don't know in whose world is it a guarantee you are going to score 40 seconds later.. Guy at this point is just answering without even thinking how stupid it sounds... Figures a response will be accepted no matter how obtuse it is.

  8. Wait pitt QB had the ball in his hands to win a gAme he did it.

Ours didnt so blame defense got it.

And again dont know how many times i have to say it defense is a problem and needs to be addressed. THAT DOESNT MEAN the QB is not a problem

Tyrod Ball in hand to win in Seattle LOST

Tyrod Ball in hand to win MIA LOST

2 wins = playoffs. See still a problem. Fix the problem

Tyrod ball in hand 90 yards and 4 minutes put Bills in lead. Defense-Lost

  9.

I hear you. I was referring specifically to the coaches. Last time we had a really good thing with Schwartz (say what you want about his success elsewhere, but he succeeded here) and didn't make him a priority. Now we have a really good thing with this offensive system, don't want to see that regress.

In short, I don't want to be a dog chasing its tail for another 20yrs seeing the defense be good with a crap offense and a good offense with a crap defense. We need to build on what already works, and fix what doesn't work at the same time.

This will be the 3rd HC Whaley is involved in hiring... Couldn't get a long with the other 2... Third time the charm?
