Sabres & NHL 2017-18 - Entry Draft on June 22
apuszczalowski replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in Off the Wall Archives
The Leafs didn't tank the season. They were sellers at the deadline when they were out. Kessel was the only big assett they sold off before the season, phaneuf and others were dealt at the deadline. They got lucky and won the lottery. They did go into the season intending to lose and be the worst team to get the top pick. The Sabres went full tank and even admitted their goal was McDavid. If this is all part of a continued rebuild, why does anyone care that they are bad? They aren't supposed to be good until the prospects are ready so why does any of this matter? And wjybshould it be poor Pegs? He just has to come out and say keep spending your money these next few years while we are horribly bad cause it's all about a few years when the prospects are all good and we are a juggernaut -

Ford makes you sign the deal so they are the only ones to profit cause they have more buyers then cars and know that many would buy it just to flip it for a profit -

Poor Pegs? Maybe he should have stuck to drilling wells He allowed the team to get to this point and continues to let them get worse. He signed off on the idea of "tanking" Maybe he needs to turn around and tell the guys he has running things that they are not going to accept them sitting around and wait a few years to see if the prospects will amount to anything. They need to start showing results now -
Out of the top tier QBs in the league, how many started right away? Both Mannings, Cam Newton, Ben? Did Brees start right away in SD? Rivers sat behind Brees Brady behind Bledsoe Rodgers behind Favre Peterman sat behind Taylor..... Now how many guys taken in the 1st round turn out to be franchise QBs? How many bounce around or flame out as busts?
-
Just because they were a backup to a great QB it doesn't mean they will automatically become great themselves if they aren't good to begin with. I don't think anyone expected Painter to be a high level NFL starter. Manning was one of the best QBs ever to play, but he isn't a miracle worker. Do you think it's a better option for a rookie QB to come into the league and be thrown right in to start, or to spend his time sitting behind and watching someone like Jay Cutler? Again, very few QBs are going to sit down and groom (take the rookie by the hand and teach them personally) but many will At least have conversations with the rookie and the rookie will be able to watch and learn from how the player practices and goes about his day that you hope the rookie will see this and learn that they need to do things similar to have the best chance to succeed.

Lol, I have faith that they will do this one right. As for SS, I actually fell asleep watching a chunk of it, I did get a digital copy of it through google play that also came with an extended version only because it was on sale cheap. -
I knew about TNA being Impact because it was the name of their weekly show IIRC And I had read that there was a deal with Corgan to buy a portion and take TNA over that he was screwed over with apparently which eventually led him to getting NWA when I saw a few minutes of Impact recently, I thought there was like a merger of 4 different 'brands' that were part of it or something. Really confusing It seems like ROH might be the only thing close to being any sort of competition/alternative to WWE, which isn't saying much. Noticed ROH has or had a bunch of former WWE guys

That's what I mean though. It should have been a huge hit just because of what it is, a comic book movie that are all the rage right now with a bunch of popular characters. Sure there are some lesser known in there but everything just seemed so poorly done when it should have been easy to do. The thing with these kinds of movies is that many don't need academy award caliber acting and detailed plots to succeed. Just lots of action and cool explosions usually get it done with not difficult storylines to follow -

If you can re sign him to a fair deal then thats what i would do first, if its going to cost a fortune or you will have to bid in FA for him, get assetts now for him while you can. Its not like they are winni g with him here now anyways -
Just watching the starter work can be considered grooming the replacement. You don't think Rodgers learned anything watching how Favre went about his days with the team? Do you think a rookie wouldn't learn anything getting to watch how Manning prepares and goes about his time with the team? Very few take the rookie under their wings and sit down teaching the rookie, but havung that player around to watch and occasionally talk to usually helps more then just throwing them out on day one to start. Not many outside of the elite guys ever step in on day one and are effective. I'm sure even Brady would tell you it helped getting to watch Bledsoe every day.

I don't know if I would say that. The way the Browns are going they could have one playoff appearance in 60 years, if the team lasts that long.... They do have a Pro Bowl QB, it's not like Watkins and Darby were guys who deserved to be there because of their amazing career numbers..... -

Saw an article that the TSN guys said Sabres are telling teams they would be willing to retain salary in a Kane trade. To me that's sounding like they know there's no hope this year and will use $$ to entice teams to give up some better assetts in deals I Saw someone suggest Kane to the Islanders with Ho-Sang and/or someone else coming back. With Snow someone who seems to easily get fleeced in deals, I would inquire. I would like to see Ho-Sang here, watched him a lot here in Niagara with the Ice Dogs as long as he has developed and doesn't go back to being lazy -

So much hype, and so much potential. I think it would have been tougher to make it a failure then to make it a hit. -

But the Browns made the playoffs one of those years! -
At least if they stuck with Manning they could still draft one of the better guys and have Manning there for him to learn from. Its not like they were going to go on a tear and win all the remaining games and pass a bunch of teams. They can know what they have in Webb from practices during the week, At least enough to know if he has potential to possibly be a starter or a career backup and if they should grab a better QB in the draft.

Good in the regular season, but what had he or the team done in the playoffs? I dont think he had gotten out of the 1st round, not until McCarron played and they one the one game -
Wow, 53 starts from Fitz? Didn't think it was that much It's funny how even as a bridge QB to have an early draft pick sit behind, people here wouldn't want Manning, bit would rather Bridgewater or Keenum? One guy who missed almost 2 full seasons, and another career backup who has gotten hot for a few games playing for a very good team... The problem with when they got Bledsoe wasn't the move to get him, he still played well for them, the problem was that they weren't doing everything possible to make sure they had options to replace him when they got to the end of the bridge.....

Oh wow, they got to the playoffs only to lose that game one time since they came back into the league, hold your heads high Browns fans, at least your not the Bills who haven't made the playoffs but at least make it past september/October almost every year still "in the hunt". At least the Bills give fans hope every year that maybe they will make the playoffs instead of hope that maybe this season they will win more then 2-3 games..... Even then they got their QB and then another allowing them to let rhe first one go, and they have only one playoff win over that time IIRC. And wasn't that win credited to the backup and not the current starter? -

Might have better reviews then Suicide Squad and be more entertaining then Ben Afflect as Batman. -
Haven't really followed much wrestling in years but was highly confused with the new TNA/Impact wrestling. Did TNA fold and form with other companies or something? I only noticed when I caught part of one of the shows on tv and reading an article about Smashing Pumpkins singer Billy Corgan buying another promotion after he was screwed over getting TNA/Impact

Avengers: Infinity War Trailer
apuszczalowski replied to Mark Vader's topic in Off the Wall Archives
From what I read yesterday, the 4th will be the final movie in the contract of all the original avengers and I thought I heard before it was the second half of infinity war being split in 2. Its probably pretty tough to not do it that way if the maon guys come back after something that is supposed to be so big as Infinity war. Either way, since all the movies tie into each other, it is a continuation no matter what, kinda like how many consider Civil War to be Avengers 2 1/2 instead of Captain America 3. Its not like it matters, right now Marvel could release a movie of any of the Avengers out doing normal everyday stuff for a few hours and it would make Billions while DC will have another super hyped movie come out and be considered a flop by blockbuster movie standards...... -

The Browns have had one season since coming back into the league where they made the playoffs, and have been drafting near the top ever since. Maybe people realise that just because you draft near the top of the draft it doesn't mean your getting anything good. Ryan Leaf was once debated on as whether he or Peyton Manning would go #1 overall. Vince young was a #1, there's plenty others too. Much better spend your seasons hoping for 0-16 then atleast having a sliver of hope your team might make the playoffs this year -

That's because unlike what most want to think and believe here, the Bills aren't and haven't bee a bad team. They are mediocre and just not good enough to make the playoffs. But because Bills fans love misery, they like to believe they have been horrible and comparable to the Browns dumpster tire fire -

The helmet is also orange.... But technically the logo is not on the helmet, they just wear the orange helmets and use the orange helmet as a logo when needed since just the color orange is not a logo...
