our d has been in pretty tough so far. that really was a bad fumble timing wise. god if we had come down and scored it would have just changed the whole thing.

we are pretty terrible on O. that 1st down loss run and the two screens that followed, the D knew the entire time, even went offside momentarily on the run.

trent has sht the bed the past 3 weeks, but we really do need to get some running game going. losing the middle of our line isn't helping any.

minni's great o and d lines and run heavy play calling haven't gotten them jack. we have (for the most part, turnovers aside) solid qb play and decent pass blocking and WRs. our D has held up well except for the horrible zona game, our special teams have been muted but are still strong. if we are stingy with the ball, kick FGs in the redzone, and don't turn it over we are 7-1. that's exactly the position our gm and coaching has put us in. small mistakes lead to big losses.

anybody who doesn't this, or harps on about other minor details clearly doesn't understand the game.

nah. all of these Our X is Y bad, our A is B terrible posts are essentially saying we could use better players. no sheet. everyone could. we could use the good players we have (2 oline, 1 Dline, 1 CB) who are hurt right now. the bottom line is we have to win with the teeam we have. the question is "Can we?". the answer is yes, but we can't lose the ball like we have. we have to go for zero result plays (run for it, throw the ball away) rather than negative plays (sacks, turnvoers). it's that simple, great teams get beaten when they turn the ball over. that's our weakness and that's what cost us our 2 division losses.

so you think if we didn't turn the ball over like we did the past two weeks we would still lose?

i disagree. if we don't cough the ball up like we did the past 2 weeks we are 7-1. we would have had 100+ more yards on O, a longer TOP and at least 10 more points in each of the last 2 games if we didn't turn the ball over. all those other details are good, but we simply need to not turn the ball over (or at least do it a lot less) to win.

we need at least one more interior lineman. that said, if we had less terrible red zone cough ups of the ball and bad turnovers in general the past 2 weeks we'd be 7-1 and then you would be talking about how the jets and fish paid too much for their line. these criticisms are penny wise and pound poor. we pass well, run badly, and if we hold onto the ball we win.

i was at the game, great tail gate. i agree, our d line is not disruptive enough, our LBs aren't playing great (of course having 3 on IR is a big part of that), and our secondary needs to figure itself out (i think either scott continues to improve or we get a new SS. mcgee and mcloving with youboty as our nickle is the future, and those guys can really play). on o our running has been terrible, we are playing musical backs too much, our o line has flat out sucked for way too many plays this year (with peters falling from best in the afc to maybe top 12) and we still have only one WR. all that said, we lost this week soley due to turnovers. TURNOVERS TURNOVERS TURNOVERS. THAT'S IT. the pick in the jets redzone cost us at least 10 if not 14 total points. the fumble cost us 3 if not 6 points. the failed conversion cost us 3 if not 6. that's 16 to 26 points net differential on turnovers. we lost by just over half the smaller number there. no coach or team is perfect, but all this crying over who should return kicks and how bad our coaches are is really missing the point, we have to take care of the football.

i've been re watching out games. peters has been garbage, he looks like a rookie with good talent. that safety we gave up WAS ON A THREE MAN RUSH, and it didn't take more than 2 seconds for the sack to occur, it wasn't a long time. peters was right up over porter and just stank. no disruption and got beat to the inside with his ass in his own endzone. i think if we score on that drive we win the game, and peters made that impossible. i know some of the chubby chasers on this board want to cut whitner and pay peters 10 a year, but he's been sheet this season.
