you WANT your young guys to go in with a vanilla plan and get pushed around as much as possible. i'd like to see a better performance of course, but our young raw line let up no sacks with vanilla play calling (which is a ten strength) and we had the one bad block by the rook. zero sacks is very very good. i'm not worried yet, but we need harris at LB and maybin to come in IMO that will give us a whole lot more speed and nastyness.

i think it's a matter of time before he and poz are our hunter killer missile tandem.
-
yes it was a bad pass, but evans is in no way a go anywhere guy. he's faded on plenty of slants in his career and his huge fall off in production from year to year shows it.
-
bad pass but evans could have done a bit more for the ball, he's not a go over the middle guy, is he?
-
only preseason yada yada yada, but poz really looks like the guy he was his jr year in penn state. very instinctive, just a beast.
-
smart, strong, mobile, hostile, and motivated. that's the new cutting edge nfl line, not the over paid peters types -- you want 5 guys as a unit (and particularly 3 in the middle who are machines), not some super star idiot and some softies.
-
peters went undrafted in spite of playing at a big SEC program. everyone knew his talents but no one drafted him, why? because he' a lazy punk who's as dumb as a rock. he's going to get dinged up and suck for philly sooner or later. bank on it.

Random, anonymous scout rips Maybin
colin replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
the point that always stood out to me about maybin is that he is insanely quick off the snap -- guys compared him to kearse as a rookie. yes he is undersized and will be weak against the run, but that's understood. if he gets off the ball and works hard, he can be that last little extra pass rush we need to make our entire d better. he's also very aggressive and doesn't quit on plays -- combined with a healthy schoble that's our shot at having a scary d this year. -
i laughed at that too!!! i didn't know a guy could post w peter's peter in his mouth.

So, why can't the Bills make the playoffs?
colin replied to DIE HARD 1967's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
we need more power plays on D (sacks, fumbles, interceptions), and more TDs on O (which means the passing game, although the running game is a growing strength and will help). now trent needs to step up in a big way, and our young oline needs to be stout, and our new DE and FS have to make a positive contribution. all that said, trent is older and wiser, our "talent" on the o line played poorly last year, and we are adding a rookie with huge speed in the pass rush and aaron schoble should be back and healthy, adding a ton to our pass rush. on O (where we really need the improvement, and where we get the most results for each unit of improvement) hardy, jackson, and trent are all a bit older and better, and we add TO to compliment evans. IMO that is what is going to make our O good, our special teams will still be great, and our D will be good as well. that's plenty to get us to the play offs. now we just have to do it. -
I am sick of hearing about how our coaching sucks....
colin replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
the point about coaches being great based on their players (and maily QB) is a fact. coaches are important, but their game day contributions are way over rated. having good players and having them prepared trumps game day things that get blown out of proportion, and we as fans don't really see how well prepared and motivated the team is over the course of the week. if we make the playoffs this year, i say keep dick, if we don't i am all for canning him. that result will come down to more than just his contribution, but that's the way it works. -
Worried about the O-line? Read this article
colin replied to toddgurley's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
the issue i had w our old line is the same line that did well and at times great in 07 sucked in 08. that's because even tho we had some physically talented guys, we had lazy idiots all over the place. nyg, green bay of old, ne, and carolina are all teams that go for hard working nasty smart guys and have success. dallas blo, philly, and the jests try (or tried in our case) to have physical studs at oline and have both up and down years because of it. i much prefer to have cheaper tough smart guys on the line than expensive wonder kids on the O line. they are super important as a group, but they don't make the plays, they just help them happen. you want your physical freaks where they can make the biggest individual impact -- with the ball or rushing the passer/taking the ball away. -
Does Eli Manning Deserve To Be The Highest Paid QB...
colin replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i'm mixed on eli. he has great tools and at times is just awesome, but is horribly inconsistent. now, he plays in the ultra aggressive gilbride system, and that same system has made iffy linemen and ok running backs top rated Ds in 4 different cities (including b lo!) -- so that's is part of it. w the giants O, while they are up and down and all over the place, they always seem to have a shot in each game. they are capable (due to the option routes, risk taking, open play, and running constantly out of passing formations) of scoring at any time. the way to look at it is -- what are you gonna do if you are the giants? let him walk? of course he is gonna get bank. -
that broad in the pic looks like miss piggy

Anyone Agree with Tim Graham on This?
colin replied to toddgurley's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i dont think anyone is questioning his talent, but just watch the sacks porter had against him last year. they were all fuggin horrible. we will be a better team in 09 than 08 without peters. -
Anyone Agree with Tim Graham on This?
colin replied to toddgurley's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
here's my (awesome) take -- i think my boy Bill in NYC might smack the back of my head a lil on this, but ultimately will agree. you don't need super athletes to play LT or OL in general. it helps, and they certainly have to have a rare set of tools (length, height, size, feet, strength, etc.) -- but you don't need athletic freaks who can do things that other great athletes just can't do. you need that on the D line. the reason for that is the super freaks show their talent (bruce smith, kearse, etc) on individual plays that you hope are game changing. you want the disruptive rush or hit that knocks the ball loose. On the oline, you want CONSISTENCY above all else. if i have a guy who never blows anyone off the line once, but gets in his mans face, plays hard and smart, and gets his assignment almost every time, then i want 4 more and will ride them deep into the playoffs. now a truly great lt (jones, munoz) combines the super talent with football smarts, effort, nastyness, consistency, hustle, a love of the game, dedication, and all that. the thing is, lots of very good olines have zero super star talents, but everyone plays so that the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. jason peters is a super freak athlete. he is like the gilbert brown of the oline. he has freakish ability and quicks, and nastiness. the thing is he is dumb, lazy, does not love the game, and imo is not a natural football guy in terms of his mentality and attitude. i watched every single sack and close to sack of the bills last year on the nfl replay re cutter. he got destroyed one on one vs OLBs lines up wide at least 12 times in the season (and it seems like for half of porters sacks -- leading to 2 division losses). he blows guys away enough of the time, but then sucks ass often enough to blow drives and cause turnovers. add in that he quit on us (the worst thing a guy can do, knock vick and owens all you want, they always bring max effort). i want nasty, smart, aggressive, hungry, football guys on my oline. j peters only brings the nasty and aggressive part, but lacks all the rest. the same way the giants running game can get super charged by subtracting barber, our o line can become the tough mauling unit we all want without peters. go mutha effing bills baby! -
i think raji has a ton of ability, but i also think maybin has a shot at being a jayson taylor kind of super pass rushing terror. those are guys you just can't replace.

The decade's 25 most overrated players
colin replied to TheLynchTrain's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i would say moulds, law, and brown are all good enough to not be over rated. -

Does our Defensive Front Seven Cut It?
colin replied to offde-fence's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
our front seven will be effective this year. with our two aarons stepping up and rushing the passer on 3rd and long we will go from good but vulnerable in spots to top 5-10, with many more turnovers. -
in the bible it says bellicheat will be tied up in his underwear in a subway ticket booth and will be sprayed with lighter fluid and set ablaze with my buffalo bills stainless steel lighter.

How do we compare to the Jets and Dolphins?
colin replied to billsfan89's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
we are better than both of those teams. we can run on them, we can pass on them, we can (now) rush them as they pass, and our secondary matches up well with their thin skill talent. we pwn them on special teams. 4-0 vs them this year. -
the bottom line is i fcking hate the faketriots, billecheat, and gaydy. i want them all the feel pain and terror as they suffer a bone crushing loss to the newly dynastic buffalo bills this season in the monday night opener. i want brady and giselle to break out in face herpes and die from boiling blood from the guilt of being evil. i want all the cheating players on the pats lines to have their testicles explode at the glory hole while they slip out from their wives after we play them. billecheat will have his eyes eaten by fire ants while demons humiliate him for eternity. i will then go on a walk for the bills across america where i chest kick a different random stranger decked out in full pats gear ever 4 strides.

rj was a fragile guy who held the ball too long who had great qb skills. jp was a fragile guy who held the ball too long who had zero qb skills. jp is the worst qb to ever get 30+ starts. he sucked the most.
