  1. Stevie Johnson likes to rap, too. Doesn't make sense to rag on a guy for a hobby of his just because he's not great at football.
  2. I think people should cancel their tickets until the Bills move out of WNY! That will show 'em! I won't be happy until I have no reason to be happy!
  3. Trading your very-early second and an early 4th for a very-late first isn't a big deal. The Pack didn't drop that many spots.
  4. The Bills used the 23rd pick in the 2003 draft on a guy coming off a catstrophic knee injury (that's still difficult to watch). For better or for worse, Willis is no longer with us -- although I wouldn't say that he's "gone to a better place" -- so what is the take-away lesson from all of this? I call the overall situation "The Willis Experiment" because the Bills seemed to go out of their way to take a chance on a guy who would almost certainly not -- and didn't -- play during the 2003 season. Simple: Don't draft severely injured talent, no matter how good he projects. I tend to think that Willis is misunderstood by the haters, but even more misunderstood by the Ravens, but one thing is true: the Bills lost a whole season of productivity from one of their first round draft picks. This is unacceptable, especially considering how things worked out. Of course, if Willis turned into pre-insanity OJ Simpson, I wouldn't be writing this. But the chances of that happening in today's NFL are not worth an entire season of missed action. Now, I'm not here to play the game of who was available when the Bills selected McGahee (Larry Johnson, Dallas Clark, Anquan Boldin, etc...), but I'm a little jilted at the way Mr. McGahee left. The Bills stuck their neck out for this kid in a time when no one was ringing his phone and he ended up taking the low road out of town. I'm not amused. Never again should the Bills take a risk like they did with McGahee. And that is the take-away lesson.
  5. I get the same feeling from this signing as I did last year with....Josh Reed. I want to poke fun, but we all know how Reed worked out. Josh "Hands" Reed! Coy "Stonewall" Wire?
  6. I'll be there tomorrow bright and early (around nooner). There are actually way more Bills fans than we have in the Bills room (yes, we have our own room -- with two huge flatscreen TV's), but some people have a custom of sitting at the bar or going to the back room in the bar. See "yins" there. -Zach
  7. 13-13...second OT.. Iowa starts with the ball this time...
  8. 13-10 CUSE!!! GO DEFENSE!!!
  9. WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! TIE GAME!!!!! OT!!!!
  10. Surprised Shaud made it. Surprised Coy survived again. Surprised Ezekiel got the axe.
  11. If we're in a situation where it matters who we have as the third stringer, it won't make a difference who the third stringer is.
  12. Yeah, the tail-end WR's who might have had a spot as special teams guys... I'm not crazy
  13. This doesn't bode well for the WR's on the cusp...
  14. Thanks, Florida_BillsFan! Just ordered my Lee Evans jersey for $50 after shipping! Great deal.
  15. Maybe there isn't that much difference between a 4th and 5th round OL?
  16. Most of what people say on parody news sites sounds stupid...
  17. Reported by Mike and the Mad Dog on WFAN in NYC. He'll probably take over for Gibbs after he retires again...
  18. Leaving in an hour...Hope to see others there GO BILLS!
  19. Shadyside is probably much like you left it. Doc's is still there and the beneficiary of every external law school event that requires some sort of consumption. The post-bar-exam gathering is there, as well as the 1L orientation "impending doom" party. Deli Company is still alive and kickin' as well, though we did recently just lose Biki (not very popular), which was replaced by a nice resturant too expensive for the likes of me. I'm avoiding Harper, although only because I couldn't get into his class this semester. Jordan will be taking care of all of my evidence needs I'm impressed that you were able to make it out to Cali from Pittsburgh. I'm trying to get into the DC market, and that's tough enough! Still: Small world. Great to hear from a Pitt Law grad. Zach
  20. Looks like I'm living the life of CJPearl2 now. I'm in my second year at Pitt Law School and living in Shadyside. I went to FatHeads for "20c Wing Night" this past summer. Really great time. I'll say hi to Walnut Street for ya Zach
  21. Long time lurker, first time poster. Just wanted to give anyone in the Pittsburgh area the heads-up about the best (public) place to watch the Bills on Sunday in the area: Buffalo Blues on South Highland in Shadyside. A little background: I moved to Pittsburgh last football season, and couldn't find a good place to watch our boys in my area. Finally, my roommate and I (both Bills fans) found Buffalo Blues, but had to battle with Steelers fans (guh) for a decent TV (they have dozens at this bar). Sat through last season at this place and was able to watch the Bills each week, although without sound and on a comparitively small TV. This year, things are MUCH BETTER. Last week, preparing to fight the crowd at the bar, I showed up in my Cornelius Bennett jersey at around 12:15 (bar opens at 12:30 or so). To my surprise, there were a number of Bills fans (7 or so) already waiting for them to open up shop. Apparently, this place is now the offical "Bills Backers" bar (or something). Regardless, because we had such a huge group and a few fans talked to the owner of the bar ahead of time, we were able to get our OWN room (in the front) with a big-screen TV and audio! We had about 20+ last week, but I expect (due to word of mouth) that we'll get more this time around. A truly awesome time, especially for displaced Bills fans who have to deal with "Big Ben" garbage all year. So: If you're in Pittsburgh -- join the club. Had an awesome time last week! Did I mention they have WINGS there? They're actually decent, too. Also some kind of beer special (Something like $4.50 up front for a big glass, $2.50 for refills thereafter...not positive). Information: Buffalo Blues 216 S Highland Ave Pittsburgh, PA 15206-3913 (412) 362-5837 Map: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=216+S+Highla...,0.045417&hl=en Directions by bus (from Campus-Oakland area): Take the 500 or 71D right down 5th Ave to South Highland (away from the city). I know one of those busses actually takes a left on S Highland and can get you closer to the bar, but I'm not sure which. I think it's the 500. Worst case scenario, get off at 5th/Highland and just start walking...Buffalo Blues is like 1/3 mile down the road. Hope to see people there. Zach
