  1. Got it, thanks. And what's the playoffs, 10 races? So you theorhetically could have 5 wins and 5 crashes, and lose out to the guy who finished 4th in all 10 races?
  2. I am not a NASCAR fan at all, I don't bash the sport, I just don't really pay attention. Did I hear correctly on the radio that a driver has won 2 of the first 3 races and is currently 5th in the overall standings? How is this possible? I assume he wiped out in the 3rd race? Would it be possible for someone to win 15 races and a few in the playoffs and yet not win the title? Is it better to just keep finishing in 6th place every week?
  3. I'm hitting the Tampa game on 3/18
  4. Boy I almost forgot how depressing it can be to watch this team at times. The two-week hiatus gave us some incredible hockey, which was understandibly exciting, considering the Olympic stage, the pride of nations, and the extreme talent on the ice. I almost forgot what it was like to watch the Sabres play their "system" and attempt to suck the life out of every game. I'm not a bandwagon jumper by any means, just looking at the situation realistically. I will watch every game until there aren't any more. But man, they have a serious collection of stiffs. Other than Miller and Myers, there is not a player on their roster who I would be sad to see leave via trade. There just aren't any game changers there (not that they'd pick one up by trading some of our junk for other teams' junk...But sometimes a "change of scenery" move can give a stale locker room some life.) However, I'm sure Darcy will continue the "internal improvement" model which has us waiting for Stafford to become Ovechkin, and Clarke MacArthur to become a 35-goal scorer. By the way, Jason Pominville, a "#1" winger who is on the ice in seemingly every critical situation that the Sabres need a goal, has produced 24 even-strength goals in his last 151 games. Just saying. They were a good team and a potential division champ when Ryan Miller was the NHL MVP and had numbers better than 97-98 Dominik Hasek. In recent weeks he's just been "normal", i.e. 3 or 4 goals allowed. The Sabres have proven unable to win those games lately. The score-by-committee model that results in 12 players scoring between 10-18 goals for the season, is a blessing and a curse. Without a dynamic player, the goals are harder to come by when the season is on the line, the checking is tighter, and the points are crucial. I'm not sure what the move is. It can be looked at as a slumping team who needs a boost, and a trade could benefit a stale roster who might be able to ride their goalie on a playoff run. Or, it can be looked at as a team still competing for a division title, and leave them intact and let them finish what they've started. How do you view the current Sabres roster, and what do you expect before the 3pm trade deadline? (By the way, sweet ovation for Miller from the pro-USA Pittsburgh crowd last night)
  5. Jimmy Chamberlain of Smashing Pumpkins, particularly on 1993's Siamese Dream The drumming is unreal on that album.
  6. As a job... I would love to be LeBron James's agent. I think I could be a great agent, and I think that LeBron would be the ideal client. Young, world class talent, transcendant personality, smart, funny, energetic, and a cash cow. Plus, everyone would have to kiss my ass just for the opportunity to kiss LeBron's ass. As a hobby... I would love to own a stable of thoroughbreds, to race, breed, and raise them. Main residence and farm would be in Saratoga, NY with wintertime training at Santa Anita in CA. I have to assume that if I was to make it to that point, I have done pretty well in my life.
  7. So...Other than owning the #1 commodity in the region for 50 years, he has no ties to the community. Got it.
  8. Two thoughts: 1. Lockport has a paper? It's probably three pages of DUI arrests and a fourth page of school board and town planning meeting recaps. 2. This "column" reads like a "Letter to the Editor." Except at least the editor might read those before sending them to print.
  9. Colts #1, Cowboys #2...hahahahahahaha MIAMI—On the heels of their 31-17 win over the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLIV, the New Orleans Saints rose to the third spot in the most recent NFL team power rankings. "With Drew Brees running the offense, this team has what it takes to be among of the best," ESPN.com reporter John Clayton wrote in his entry on the World Champion Saints. "I'm still not convinced their defense can take them all the way to the top, though. As I said in my rankings, I think the Colts are just a better club overall. And of course I like the depth of talent on the Cowboys." Clayton said he expected "big things" from the Saints in the 2010 season.
  10. Two ACC teams and zero PAC 10 teams, and you see little difference in years past???? No UNC, no UCLA???

Conference breakdown: Big East- 5 ranked teams Big 12- 4 Big 10- 4 SEC- 3 MWC- 3 (New Mexico, BYU, UNLV) ACC- 2 WCC- 1 (Gonzaga) Horizon- 1 (Butler) MVC- 1 (No. Iowa) A-10- 1 (Temple) PAC-10- ZERO What I find to be crazy? The long-dominant ACC has only two ranked schools (Duke and GT) and the PAC 10 has ZERO teams who are ranked. In fact, not even one PAC 10 team is in the "Also received votes" category. Hard to believe with longtime basketball powers like UCLA and Arizona (and to a lesser extent, Stanford and Washington) that nobody could crack the rankings this year. In fact, K-State is the only team in the top-13 west of the Mississippi River. There's some pretty decent hoops in Upstate NY. Obviously Cuse is having a great year, but Cornell and Siena are both playing solid ball and have a chance to make some March noise.
  12. I have always assumed overhand was the proper method...It just seems to make sense...You're rolling it towards you, you can see the perforations where you tear the sheets, it's all very easy. Underhand makes no sense, it's harder to tear because you're kinda reaching under the roll...It's a disaster. My girlfriend grew up in a house with underhand, I grew up with overhand...We each install the TP to our personal preference when the roll goes empty...Although I think she's beginning to see the logic of the overhand roll but is holding to the underhand out of principle and tradition. Thank you for confirming that the nation is overwhelmingly overhand.
  13. For standard toilet paper mounts, with the removable "axle" that the roll rests on...Which method do you prefer? My lady and I are at odds on this issue. - The "Overhand Method", so that the TP rolls toward the person, and sheets are torn on the "front" of the roll. - The "Underhand Method", so that the TP rolls away from the person, and sheets are torn on the "back" of the roll. What say ye, Two Bills Drive?
  14. It's hard to believe those initial expectations. No doubt they release the "worst case" scenario so they look brilliant when the thing outlasts it's projections. But you can't really blame them. With the billions upon billions of dollars spent on these projects, taking them from conceptual idea to reality, if they said something was going to provide 5 years of data and it craps out after 2 years, taxpayers go apeshit. It's a fairly decent business practice to keep the masses from getting unruly over unmet expectations. And NASA is hardly alone in this "time skewing" procedure. For example: JetBlue lists their BUF --> JFK flights as depart 1PM, arrive 2:30PM, even though the flying time is 55 minutes. Helps to ensure on-time arrivals and builds in for potential take-off and gate delays, etc.
  15. The potential good news for Salinger fans is the possibility of loads of previously unreleased writings that his family will allow to be published posthumously. HOPEFULLY....
  16. Not sure I've seen him mentioned...And certainly not "the best"...But Jack White can wail
  17. Yeah just a brief search, I think Rivals.com had them at #8 for three straight years, and at #2 for 2008. He also picked up national #1 recruit Jimmy Claussen and national #1 defensive player LB Manti Te'o amongst his recruitng classes. Like you said, justnot a very good HC, and despite Te'o (which was considered a real coup for Weis to steal him from USC) he never got big time defensive talent to South Bend.
  18. Exactly. Somebody asked me at the end of the regular season who I thought the NFL MVP should be. I said Curtis Painter made a better case for Peyton Manning than anybody possibly could have!!
  19. Some of those mentioned here would be at the top of my list. Giants like Hendrix, Clapton, SRV, Page. My personal faves include Duane Allman and Derek Trucks. Completely underrated and somewhat under the radar for being in such a huge band is Mike McCready from Pearl Jam. And give me the Chicago blues of Magic Slim and the Teardrops any day. I saw him at the Kingston Mines in Chicago in November. I left the club at 3:30AM and Slim and the boys had been cookin for 2 hours and were just gettin warmed up.
  20. But don't you think, that if you asked the Colts in week 16, they would rather play the Jets at home in the AFC Championship for chance to go to the Super Bowl? At that point, the Chargers looked like one of the best teams in the league, the Ravens were always dangerous, the Patriots still had Wes Welker, and Houston was fighting with the Jets to be the last team into the mix, and were clicking on both sides of the ball and on a serious winning streak. The Jets had a rookie QB who they were trying to hide, and were without their dynamic all-purpose back Leon Washington. I'd have to say, anybody would've rather played the Jets at that point. Even in week 17, Cincinnatti had to like their chance of getting Sanchez on the road in his first playoff game, rather than beating them to keep them out of the playoffs and then having to face a dangerous Houston team that had won 5 in row. I can appreciate what you're saying about knocking them out when you have the chance...But I think most teams would've preferred to play the Jets and their unsteady rookie QB at that point.
  21. This guy is a douche. Hopefully a Winnepeg Blue Bombers fan ponies up enough loonies to buy his worthless fandom. The best Minnesota Vikings statistic is that they have been to four Super Bowls, and not only have they never won, they have never had a lead in a Super Bowl game! How crazy is that? The coin toss was as good as it got for them.
