1. Hence the reason I said he'd turn 28 in March.  :D

Go look up his stats.  He hasn't gotten progressively better.

That's what I get for looking at his stats the day after reading your post.

Anyway, I still think it should make for an interesting situation. Both teams will probably want their guy playing. Just looking at the numbers Leighton put up last year (very impressive stats), he has to start most of the games.

  2. The Sabres got special approval from the league to wear the b/g that one time.  If they come out in b/g this time, while the possibility exists that it may be another 1 time thing, it WON'T be a 3rd jersey.  Color scheme for 3rds have to use team's  uniform/logo colors.  The Sabres currently do not have blue in the color scheme, although they have been adding a gold border around the shatanic goat head in their brochures / etc.

I was thinking the same thing about third jerseys, but then there's that ugly Atlanta 3rd jersey. I've never paid too much attention to their regular jerseys. Is that blue actually in them? The Anahiem 3rd jersey is another one where the color doesn't seem right.

edit: The blue is in the Atlanta jerseys. It's about as sublte as the red eye in the old sabres jerseys. As for Anahiem, I don't see how that jersey fits into their color scheme.

  3. I thought that was a great article.  A change of QB's is not going to turnaround what is happening on the field.  Other than McGahee, every part of that team is playing putrid right now.  Give the kid a chance, if the other parts of the team start clicking, so will JP.

But it's always the QBs fault. :D

  4. Because I'm well connected my friend. And did I ever say that someone from the Sabres told me? Plenty of other groups of people know, NHL, NHLPA, jersey makers, etc.

I knew this was coming, but not until today did I find out from someone that would definitely know.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see it happen, but this is one of those "I'll believe it when I see it" situations. Luckily, we're only 9 hours away.

  5. He's not exactly young.  He'll be 28 in March.  He's had a couple of good seasons at the AAA level but he's never distinguished himself.

The Panthers will want him to be playing and Buffalo will want Leighton playing. That should make for an interesting situation.

Also, 28 is relatively young for a goalie. That's generally the age where they start to thrive.

edit: I just looked him up and he's 27 (March '78). It really doesn't mean much, but I wanted to point that out.

  6. Bartovic is a forward. A Left or Right Winger if I recall correctly. I don't know what the heck they need another goalie for except for the fact that the Sabres are keeping Biron, Miller and Norronen for now and that left Rochester shorthanded,  so they sent the new goalie to Rochester. Maybe Darcy will pull off a trade before Christmas.

Rochester actually has a goalie already. The Panthers are now a parent club for them as well. They have a young goalie, Jean Marc Pelletier that they assigned to Rochester. I don't know much about him, but I think that he was a well regarded prospect a few years back.

  7. Smokescreen my friend, smokescreen. The rule you stated is in deed an NHL rule, but the Sabres had this in the works for a long time. We'll see tomorrow, maybe I'm just looking into a few things too much, but all the signs were there for me to say what I did. I posted months ago that their was a prototype jersey the Sabres had developed a while ago.

As for the money-issue, if they are new blue and gold jerseys, I'm getting mine tomorrow as I'm sure 1000s of others will.

Did you see the pictures of the murals they painted in the arena? It seems like a pretty poor plan to put up all these pictures of uniforms that no one will be wearing.

  8. Just like in the NFL, uniform changes have to be approved on year in advance. They can get special permission to wear the old jerseys like they did a few years back when Golisano took over, but that's it. You won't be seeing anything new (or old) this year.

Ignoring the rules for a second, here's another reason why this won't happen, money. If they were going to change jerseys, they would've announced it so that they could make more money in the Sabre Store.

  9. Bartovic wasn't a defenseman.....?

    465061

That's the second time in the last few weeks that I've seen him listed as a d-man. People really need to do some research. I expect more from TSN.

As for the trade, I'm confused, but I can't wait to see what happens next.

  10. Seriously, what is it going to take for Bills’ coach Mike Mularkey to finally go with Kelly Holcomb over J.P. Losman? I mean Holcomb may not be Jim Kelly (well, maybe compared to Losman he is), but he can at least move the ball down the field and take pressure off of Willis McGahee, which are two things that Losman has failed to do this season. Losman has been “Just Pathetic” in these first 4 games of the 2005 season. How bad has he been? In the first 4 weeks of the season, he has totaled just 433 yards passing, Marc Bulger passed for 442 yards in week 4 alone. His quarterback rating is a paltry 55.9, which is last in the league. And, he has thrown for as many passing TDs (1) as LaDainian Tomlinson. Losman has truly earned the nickname “Just Pathetic” Losman.

Running the ball 16 times. Yeah, there's a ton of pressure on McGahee.

  11. watch it again...its gets funnier each time you see it...the first time i saw it, it was kind fo annoying, and then it grows on you...

    457926

That won't be happening. I wanted to turn it off halfway through, but I kept it on because a bunch of people have said it was good. Now I know that they were wrong.

  12. She was a senior 'ASSOCIATE', which is considerably different.  Probably like VPs at many banking type institutions.

Also, I noticed that Monica Potter & Rhonda Mitra were listed as like 'special guests'.  Does that mean they are writing them out?  Bummer.

    457772

Sorry, I'm not up on all the law firm terminology, but you get the point. She's this somewhat high ranking lawyer at the firm yet we've never seen her before? I guess it's possible, but it still seemed strange to me.

Was Monica Potter listed as a special guest? I say Mitra's name but must have missed Potter. I was assuming that Mitra would be leaving shortly because of this (she'll probably leave with the old boyfriend). Personally, I think writing both of them off the show sucks. At the end of the season, they started to develop a little chemistry with Potter's character and Shore. I would've liked to see where they wanted to go with that.

  13. I don't like some of the changes they made to the show. All of a sudden there's this new character who happens to be a senior partner, yet we never saw her before? Also, Shore was bossing around that other lawyer (I forget his name). Wasn't that guy a senior partner too?

Other than those minor issues, the show was very entertaining. Shatner's still ridiculoulsy funny.
