  1. No Kenny at all. Sometimes they'll do an episode like that where some of the main characters don't even make an appearance.

The first one that comes to mind is the episode where Timmy and Jimmy joined the crips. The big 4 only showed up a couple times to say that they weren't touching this one with a 40 ft pole.

  2. NE- really doubtful that we can win on the road and JP probably gets his next shot there. The good news for him is that it will be hard to do worse than the last time he entered an NE game.  Even with his piss-poor play this year he is a far better QB than the rookie who entered that game.

Just like the Bills, New England can't stop the run. I don't see why Willis can't do the same thing there that he did this past week.

  3. JP is not a rookie, first off.  Secondly, go compare some folks who sat for most of their rookie years and then started their second years.  Favre is a good example.  While he was great, he posted solid numbers his second year, which was his first year starting.

It was more of a general statement about all young QB's, not just JP. Because of the Pittsburgh situation, all rookies are going to get ripped apart if they don't win immediately. Replace the word "rookie" with "young" and my point still stands.

As for your Favre comparison, did he miss a lot of reps due to a broken leg? Just because one player who became a star after sitting out his first season and then put up decent numbers in his second season doesn't mean that the same applies to every single QB out there. There are different factors in play from team to team, player to player.

  4. You're not going to see a wave of numbers retired. This is a publicity move to get some fans back. After Hasek (maybe in the next 10 years), you won't see another one for a while, unless we develop a superstar.

edit: As for Horton, talk to guys like Mike Robitaille and you'll understand why he's up there.

  5. For my money it's the Michal Grosek to the Blackhawks for Doug Gilmour and JP Dumont deal that still makes me laugh.  Friggin GROSEK and we get Killer and Dumont?  Granted, I'm still mad at Killer for not catching up to Kasparaitis, but Dumont has more than tilted that deal in our favor many times over.

We also got part of Gilmour's salary in that deal. Chicago also got a draft pick, but I have no clue who that turned out to be.

  6. :o   I didn't know that (obviously).  Good catch shrader.

I knew he was gone, but I was having trouble finding where he went. Thank god for tsn.

As for Kasper's comments about Connolly, he has looked pretty good so far. He's playing well but hasn't scored (last time I checked, Vanek hasn't either). You can fault him for the powerplay all you want, but he's not the only point man who won't shoot the puck. It's been an ongoing trend for years with this team now. They are always trying to setup that back door pass, but aren't able to improvise when it's not there. I also noticed that Connolly was on the ice for one of the penalty kills last night (2nd period, if I remember correctly). I think that says it all about what Ruff thinks of him.

  7. From what I understand, Regier recently traded a fairly highly rated forward for an AHL level goaltender. Could be a precursor to a larger trade of one of the Sabres goalies. I'd guess Biron if anybody.

If they were going to trade Biron, he'd be the one in the press box each game instead of Mika. If you're going to keep a guy, you don't completely piss him off like they've done with Noronen.

  8. I'm wondering if anyone knows the answer to this. If a player is still in the penalty box at the end of overtime, does that keep him out of the shootout? It really didn't matter in this game, but what if St Louis took his penalty with less than 2 minutes left?

  9. It's pretty easy to get women to like hockey.  Just take them to some games (alone) and spend time explaining the game.  My wife had never been and is now nearly as die hard as I am (though she's more a Rangers' fan than Sabres because her first real season watching the game was 1994 and she really liked watching the Captain).

I can't tell you how many times I've tried. I just always end up meeting the stubborn girls that refuse to go. I follow that up by immediately kicking them to the curb. It's the only way to go.

  10. The EVEN better news is that they got a guy with NHL experience should one of the 2 winners of the goalie sweepstakes gets hurt.  The Amerks would have been ok with Pelletier and Stirling.  This trade keeps the SABRES from crashing if the injury bug strikes.

Not to mention the fact that Leighton's stats last year in the AHL are very impressive. We may have picked up a very solid goalie here. He'll be backing up Miller next year.

  11. I mean that under one name or another, WWE is probably funding TNA and to get it going.  Vince knows that wrestling will never be what it was without competition.  He'll give TNA what they need to slowly build a strong program that will push a rating war like they used to have with WCW.  Worst move he ever made was buying WCW out.

TNA is run by Jeff Jarrett and his father. Vince absolutely hates Jarrett.
