Milano was never a Free Agent tho. That's the point. The guys that hit the market do so to get overpaid. We have re-signed White, Milano, Dawkins, and Johnson to good value deals because they DONT hit free agency. And if they had hit free agency, whatever team they went to would have paid more than we did in the extension. Yes, I agree, you can find good value free agents, but it is almost never on day 1 of free agency. We'll see what the Saffold deal looks like...

Especially when we're talking about the #3-4 WR, which will be the #4-5 option. -
No. That's not how contracts and dead cap work. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/star-lotulelei-12294/ Look at the Dead Cap column, and subtract it from Cap Hit column to get your savings.

LOL, because we're 2.5 hours into the pre-tampering period? Beane NEVER makes big splashes in the first 2 hours. It isnt worth the money it takes to overpay and land one of the big names right away. Lots of time in Free Agency to find guys. Maybe in the 2nd tier, but I wouldnt call it the "dumpster". -
Not sure making the 1TDT hole on the roster is worth the $1.5M it would get us. At least not at this moment.

I dont expect any Bills news today, or even this week. This is when the prices are highest. Beane hasnt done much on previous opening days, I don't see him doing anything when we have our smallest cap space of his tenure so far. Maybe once the big names go for big prices, we'll make moves on the 2nd tier market.

He should have started all last year, but since he can play EVERY position on the OL, the coaches thought he was more valuable as a backup (taking 1 roster sport to cover 3 guys) instead of risking him to injury as a starter. "Genius" I'm guessing he'll start a lot more this year. True. I'm firmly in the "the salary cap is a myth" camp, and know Beane can get creative. I'm just not sure the squeeze is worth the juice for who is out there.

How aggressive can we really be in FA? I would expect an early draft pick tho, if that's what you mean.

And not a single player left on the team that played with AW now that Hughes is no longer under contract. -

And dont forget about Knox as a Receiving option. After those 4, there arent a lot of balls to go around. Although I'm not sure about McKenzie in the slot and would like to see a real slot WR brought in.

It will get there. It does every year. Is what it is. -
That's what the 2nd tier guys are for. Another Bates/Boettger/DWilliams type, or 2. And a 1st or 2nd round G would most definitely be a starter. With the number of CBs and C/Gs the Bills have met with, we will be looking for starters at both positions from this draft.

Nah. Mods will/should consolidate this to a "Moves around the league" thread.
