We should at least see how McDermott takes command of the huddle first before saying he's not an elite gunslinger

The comment I responded to talked about HC and QB, so I indicated we don't know what kind of head coach McDermott will be.

  2. For real. I really like Woods, but obviously if you get a good/great player in FA, he is massively overpaid. That is the way of the world these days.

Rather have a top prospect for pennies on the dollar. It is getting to the point where you can only keep players (past rookie contract) if they are merely "role players", give a hometown discount, or are truly elite and get paid. Everyone else hits FA for a payday, and goes to the highest bidder. Further proof that it's coaching and QB that really matter these days, as even elite teams turn over their rosters besides HC and QB.

Analysis is right on target. You resign your A players and C players. The Bs go elsewhere. Too early to say what we have in McDermott. Pretty sure we don't have an elite qb.

They were leaving "no stone unturned" man. I must have missed when they were looking at Glennon, but I remember seeing a thread of some sort that Siemian was to be interviewed or talked to, something along those lines. But some of your post do come off as fact when they are obviously your opinion, which you are entitled to.

I read, but cannot recollect the source, that the Bills and another team (Jets?) were interested in Glennon, but when the salary went beyond 8 to 10 million per year, they dropped out. I think it's clear OBD valued Taylor at a reduced price only, whether one calls that surmise or fact.

  4. Sheltered.....or just asked to be a game manager?

Look.....down the road Wentz might end up being the better qb.....but last year? Wentz started off strong then struggled.

Once again....speaking like you have some kind of a inside source on things

    You dont

    Stop acting like you do

Sheltered and game manager are not mutually exclusive. I agree Wentz struggled latter half of the season. Eagles picked up some nice FA WRs.

    We'll see.

  5. I am okay with Mike Williams at #10. The folks who say he is a player who "sucks" are engaged in hyperbole or not serious people.

I prefer Watson or Mahomes and Zay Jones in the second. Ideally, trade back, pick a qb later in the first, draft wr and best db available with second round picks.

That may not be possible and in any event, is unlikely to happen. Imo, Taylor's revised contract is a perfect bridge qb contract, but it only becomes so if your developmental qb is on the team. Most likely, that is not C. Jones.

  6. Don't be impatient. Nylander was the youngest hockey player in the AHL. It's just going to take time for him to physically mature. He comes from a hockey family so he knows what it takes to play in the big league. When he is ready, maybe in 2019, he is going to be a top two line player. This is the case where you have to trust the process and allow him the right amount of developmental time.

Well, if you're a Buffalo sports' fan, you are forced to learn patience. I'm okay waiting.

  7. Given the parameters of the question, I would choose Adams. He won't be there at #10. In several threads, I have posted my preference to trade down and get an extra second.

I personally think Mahomes has potential to become a franchise qb. Unlike most of the other fellas who like him, I also think Watson is a good qb prospect, his arm velocity test notwithstanding. I'd like to get one of these qbs. I would go after Zay Jones and best db with the other early picks.

  8. I think the Bills will have a terrific prospect that "falls" to #10.

    Marshon Lattimore

    Jamal Adams

    Rueben Foster

    Malik Hooker

    Corey Davis

I wouldn't be upset with any of them.

I don't buy the interest in O.J. Howard. I think that was likely put out by the Bills as an early rumor. I have a sneaky feeling the Bills love Corey Davis and their need for a legit WR is probably the biggest hole on the roster. Imagine a season where Sammy Watkins gets knicked up and has to miss a month. Our WR group with him is pretty bad, without him it'd be historically bad. I really like the odds of Corey Davis being the guy at #10, because I think he'll still be on the board.

There are so many good, fast, athletic CB's and S's in this draft I kind of think it makes more sense to get Corey Davis w/ the #1 and solidify our WR group and then come back with our 2nd pick and get a guy in the secondary that can come in a compete for major playing time.

BTW I love the CB/FS out of Washington, Kevin King. He had one of the most impressive combines I've seen. Tall, fast, quick, long arms........he'd be a great chess piece in a pass happy league.

Funny too, because this guy was in absolutely no mock drafts at all & now I see him starting to pop up in some 1st round mocks, still hoping there's a chance he's there at #42.

I'd be shocked if Adams, Hooker, and Lattimore aren't gone before #10. Foster might be there. I prefer Mike Williams, but WR is a good possibility, imo. I'm one of those who thinks qb need trumps all the other needs, of which we have many. I'd like to trade back and pick up an extra second. Find a way to draft Mahomes or Watson. Doubt any of that happens, however. Bills are picking #44 in the second round, btw.

  9. Gotham Bill, Your suspicions about my estimation off TT are wrong. I'm not down on him, far from it. I'm glad he is staying. When discussing TT you have to view him in the realm of what are your goals? He's the type of qb who will allow your team to be respectable. What he is not going to do is elevate your team and make it a contending team. I challenge you to watch good qbs play and the type of offenses they run. Our passing offense in comparison is primitive because of his limitations. Being the best rushing offense is a stat that translates into being at best an 8-8 caliber team in the modern NFL.

TT is the perfect bridge qb. When you have that caliber of qb that is the most propitious time to get a more upside qb prospect on board because you have the time to develop him.

For a long time this organization has acted as if it is oblivious to the imperative of having a legitimate franchise qb. Every year their stunted approach to building a roster results in the same outcome. Other teams such as Oakland get their qb and pass us by. We stubbornly cling to the outdated approach to the game with the same results. This timidity to seriously address the qb position is simply stupid. Enough is enough.

This is right on target. I hope OBD gets it.

    But they probably don't.

  10.

I agree, I think they go WR Zay Jones or Chris Godwin in round 2.

I think there's a decent chance Lattimore is gone before 10; Adams and Hooker as well.

If that happens, I suspect they go WR or Howard at 10.

Personally, I would try to trade back and pick up an extra second.

I would take Watson or Mahomes, then WR and best db or wlb in the second.
