Love these!
That is a nice hockey sweater -- and royal blue is simply the only color the Sabres should rock.
Too bad the team is awful.

Literally do WHATEVER it takes to get Rosen. There are only good pocket passers like that every 5-10 years. Don't mess around. Both 1st's and our extra 2nd might get it done. Make it happen
I would absolutely make that trade, but I suspect Rosen will go #1 overall. I'm not really sure that's enough and if it's the Browns or Giants, I think they just take Rosen.

My hot take is you build around Tyrod and Shady with every last pick you got. Not against getting a QB in the draft but trading up and getting the wrong guy would be very ugly.
I don't think people ever ask themselves in a realistic way how they would feel if we traded up and got a horrible QB.
Implicit in the argument is actually drafting a franchise qb. Obviously, there is risk, but what we have is not good enough.

I think they have to take a QB this year. I know the GM/coach are likely on 5 yr contracts, but if they pass on an early QB this year, you'd be in year 3 (2019) before selecting one and by then the seat may be getting a little hot, not to mention growing pains of a rookie QB.
The Bills pick is probably going to be in the 10-15 range (I think they about 7-9 regardless of QB). The Chiefs will probably select around 20 depending on how they finish.
Trade partners are likely Giants/Colts/49ers/Bears. Each is rather poor this year and will probably not be looking at QB (I know about Eli and Luck, but I think both teams will resist a QB).
Cleveland sits at #1 and has to take a QB. At some point, they have to start trying to win games, not stockpiling future picks.
If the Bills sit in the top 10, I could see them trying to package something to move up with one of the teams mentioned above. That'd probably take both 1st rd picks and something else. I'd probably only do it for Rosen/Darnold (if he declares). After those 2, I think Jackson/Allen/Mayfield/Rudolph fall into the 2nd group. They may sit tight and see who falls to them.
Don't care about the 5 yr contract. Seat will be flaming, not "a little hot." Giants are almost certain to take a qb and if the Colts aren't sold on Luck returning to health, they may be looking as well. Browns, Cards, Jets, if you go through the league, lots of teams need qb. I agree Bears and 49ers are potential trade partners; Colts, too, if they are okay with Luck.

Depressing analysis going on here and it's difficult to find any room to disagree. I am largely in the both coaching and talent camp. Better hope the new scouts are really good at finding gems and the coaching staff figures out how to coach talented players that sometimes require putting up with rather than trading them off for low round draft picks.

Stay put and draft Lamar Jackson. And please don’t bring Dennison back to ruin his development forever.
Well, he's not my first choice. I'd rather trade up and get Rosen -- probably not happening. I prefer Mayfield if he falls to us. Jackson has a chance, though, and I'd take him. If Brownies let Hue Jackson go, I think he'd make a fine OC.

I’m finally coming around to the fact that the Browns have more talent now than the Bills on their offensive and defensive lines. I think if they played each other the Bills may still win because of Kizer and their skill players being bad/inexperienced and they turn the ball over a ton. But I’m convinced the Browns would win the battle at the LOS. Sadly.
As far as Hue, he’s best suited to be an OC not a HC.
He'll likely be available. We should look into it.

Easily Rosen.
Rosen, Mayfield, Rudolph, Darnold.
That's a solid ranking. Just find a way and get one of them.

Hmm, he doesn't look all that bright...
He looks like a pleasant, decent fella. As for brights, we'll see, but his Wonderlic score was fairly good and he seems able to read a defense and see the field, which will be a change for us.

How many other teams had a defense with 3 turnovers in so many straight games?
Taylor is a .500 QB that needs help to win.
Make him a QB. Is that fact or fiction?
Church of Tyrod
or
in a kinder term (mine)
Champions of Taylor.
Thanks for clarifying.

and what exactly are 5th round rookies known for? more good than bad? PUH-LEASE..... i guess this whole argument hinges on if you think a rookie will come in and actually be any good. sorry not buying it.
with that said. my fanhood isn't tied to taylor nor has it been tied to any other player in my life so i wait in anticipation to see what happens tomorrow and will be all in for Peterman or whomever else is starting.... i just find comical that people are buying in so hard on a rook.
COT = Cult of Tyrod, I believe. I have consistently thought Tyrod was not a franchise qb and probably really a decent backup. Nonetheless, I was happy when he seemed to play well and prior to the last few games, he exceeded my expectations. I have enough real life problems and have no desire to become embroiled in message board silliness. I like Tyrod as a person. He's just not that good and it appears defenses have figured him out. He is also not really suited for the offense Dennison is using. Peterman fits the offense. The majority of fans are eager for a new face and the second-string qb is always popular until he actually has to play. I think Peterman has an inside straight kind of chance to surprise and I hope he does.

Gruden seems to love just about every QB but it's not a secret most pundits and experts had a much higher grade on NP than 5th round, some projecting as high as late 1st/high 2nd rounder.
Certainly, any view of a fella going by SaviorPeterman I take as 100% objective.
J/k, I am hoping we found the proverbial overlooked gem. At minimum, Peterman's skill set matches WCO much better than Tyrod's.

One of three things are about to happen:
1. Peterman bombs and the team finishes with 5-6 wins and a Top 10 draft pick and knowing they need to choose a franchise QB in the draft (win)
2. The team stays the same and either squeaks into the playoffs or just misses them, in which case the Bills have the option of taking a QB in the 2018 draft
3. Peterman lights it up and is the next Kirk Cousins or Dak Prescott and the team rolls into the playoffs and making a bit of a run and the team doesn't need to draft a QB in 2018
The quality of the 2018 qb draft doesn't appear as desirable as it did before the season. Nonetheless, I like the win-win-win scenarios.

What McD was effectively saying in trading or choosing not to retain the players he did was that he couldn't win with those guys.
A cursory glance at the records of the teams that acquired the young talented veterans the Bills jettisoned does not seem to support that conclusion.
Yes, it's not at all a good sign.

In the CFL, probably.

It's not over because the AFC is full of not very good teams. If we can rise above pathetic, we might squeak in and then get crushed.

I think it was difficult for the Defense to maintain any level of intensity in the 2nd half when they see:
- 3 plays (int)
- 3 plays (out)
- 3 plays (out)
Offense under Taylor had the ball for a whopping 3:44 in the 2nd half and did worse than nothing.
Saints during that part of the game had it 21:23.
IMO, they gave up on the offense doing their job.
So is it the team quit on Taylor? The whole unit, the OC? Can't really answer these rhetorical questions, but I wonder if there is confidence that with better personnel the offense will function well or at least not be a complete disaster.

I was hoping the mirage was not a mirage, but in general its hard to argue against this.

Seems like every 5-7 years we have to go thru this "one man can't possibly make a difference" phase when it comes to run defense.
I don't know how much more obvious it can be than what you saw in Jax and Buff games the past couple weeks.
They effectively swapped run defenses when Dareus changed sides.
Well, fine, but we got rid of a fella who was not zealous for the process and picked up a cool sixth round draft pick that could escalate to a fifth!

We're about to get the worst case scenario here: 7 wins, a middle pick, no clarity in the QB position, and more holes than draft picks to fill them on both sides of the ball (QB, RG, RT, WR2, RB2, DT, DT, LB, LB, CB2, CB3)...
This "rebuild" is looking like it's going to take longer than most want... and the fan blowback will be even worse now after a hot start and (what appears to be) a traditional Buffalo fizzle down the stretch.
Yep. This ^^^^^^^ in spades.

We obviously confused defending your dirt with playing like dirt. Simple mistake.

If you are over thirty and that unrealistic about what has gone on here, you probably should just go ahead and buy the depends.
BTW I am 45
Well, I agree with Dr. K's assessment. Snarky and nasty at 45 is not a good look, either.

No. In the real world when you tear down a roster the way they have here, it will take a couple of good drafts stacked together before you start to see measurable results. Personally I am okay with that. It is a fresh approach and a departure from what has gone on here for the last decade and a half. I think it takes a set of big brass balls too cosidering most of our fanbase is bipolar and prone to knee jerk reactions.
How old are you? I was fine with that sort of thinking when I was in my thirties. Now I'd like to see a decent team before I am wearing Depends.

Where is Charlie Brown? He'll set you all straight.

I agree with you that Cousins will probably end up with a deal similar to Luck's, but the point I was making is that Cousins is at least as good as Luck, has no injury history, and can be signed as a F/A without surrendering a single draft pick.
1 hour ago, GunnerBill said:I agree that halfway through this season it is hard to argue against him as a top 10 Quarterback and for me he fits rightly in my Franchise category. I'm not quite ready to go top 5... and I still really, really rate Andrew Luck who has played on a terrible Colts team.
I'd happily take Cousins in Buffalo. I think he is a definite upgrade and before this season began I was not convinced he was much of one.
I have not watched a lot of Cousins this year. I like his leadership qualities, though I had assumed previously he benefitted from system and a nice wr corps. If he is as good as you fellas surmise, obviously you ought to make a play for him. Lot of teams looking for qb, though. Still like Luck and if Irsay was unhinged enough to unload him below market value you'd have to at least inquire. Taylor has outperformed what I anticipated, but I'd still like to upgrade at the most important position in football.

Tyrod to start vs Chiefs

They really need to fix the O-line. Tyrod is not a good qb, imo, but he makes the execrable line look better than it is, which is not to say he makes them look good. I don't think it is doing Peterman a service throwing him back out there if they can't protect him. DIfficult to have confidence in this regime, but we're stuck with it so hoping for the best.
