Perhaps I'm dense, but I don't see how backing Obama is an advantage over getting an agreement with Bush and co about a timetable.

AFAIK, Maliki has the most to gain by getting the troops out of Iraq - its his best chance at getting re-elected, regardless of whether its Bush, McCain, or Obama who does it.

Seeing all the big media outlets pick Tech is making me lose faith, especially since one of their players said this in an article I read this morning: "It's hard to forget about it like Coach Leach is telling us to do," senior receiver Eric Morris said. "We've finally got exposure and I think this is our year. I have to block all the outside stuff from my mind, though, and just focus on our first game against Eastern Washington." This has the makings of a disaster.

I've got the feeling McCain and Bush are going to try to undermine Obama's Iraq position in the coming months by announcing a time line for withdraw in conjunction with the Iraqis, and then saying Obama was stupid to support it without talking to the troops on the ground.

I was actually pretty surprised by Ernest Graham last year - I didn't think he'd amount to much, but as it turns out, he's a pretty decent RB. I do agree with you that age could catch up to their offense - but if it doesn't, I could see them finishing ~15th or so in offense, top 10 in defense, which would win them a lot of games I'd think.

I dunno, I think their offense is pretty decent. They've got a nice run game, their OL should be improved, they might actually have a TE in the passing game this year, and they were 3rd in points allowed last year.

What I meant by my sarcastic remark is that picking the right players matters 100x more than the position. That's not to say the position doesn't matter - picking a RB in round 1 when you already have a strong starting RB is, IMO, silly (I'm looking at you Donahoe). So is picking a kicker, punter, or special teams gunner in the first round. Outside of that, though, it doesn't bother me what a team chooses to build through FA versus through the draft, as long as they have well-rounded drafts.

I, too, think Mizzou will lose one or two this season - but will ultimately make the big 12 championship game, because they're way ahead of the rest of the North. Kansas lost so much, I'm not convinced they'll be good again this year. I don't think Mizzou will play them in the conference championship. I didn't realize the big mags were going to jump on the bandwagon, I wrote up a Big 12 preview for Rich a while ago, and I've got Mizzou vs Tech in the Big 12 championship game. I think Tech could be scary, finally having a defense to match their offense.

Tougher than UB?!?! I kid, I kid. I don't think theres anyway that Illinois is going to be a tougher game than Kansas though. Rivalry games are always tough, and with both teams looking to be good again this year, you'll have your hands full.

Congrats, you don't agree we were in playoff contention. There were people on the board split into two separate camps last year as well - those who felt the 6-6 record was a sign of progress, and those who didn't. Using "3-9 teams were still in playoff contention see!!!!!" is as silly as can be as well. You don't agree that the Bills were really in playoff contention - fine. That's subjective.
